Log 3-1 STARSPAWN OF VOLTURNUS

STARSPAWN OF VOLTURNUS

The two days pass since the destruction of the Sathar Artifact, and the Eorna have searched for a way to counter the Sathar threat. The Great Mission of the Eorna was to develop a race on Volturnus capable of defeating the Sathar. The Ul-Mor, the Kurabanda, and the Edestekai are the results of Eorna genetic experi- ments. As yet, none are capable of single-handedly defeating the Sathar. However, the Eorna have devised a plan that seems to present the only possible hope of saving Volturnus and its inhabitants from destruction at the hands of the Sathar.

The plan is to unite the races of Volturnus in a common effort against the Sathar. Although the races are suspicious of each other, it is possible that you, as impartial aliens, could overcome these suspicions and help them to fight the Sathar. If your party is willing to go to the Mechanons, the Ul-Mor, the Kurabanda, and the Edestekai and convince them to fight the Sathar, the Eorna will offer the following assistance:

The Eorna will contact the Ul-Mor, The Kurabanda, and the Edestekai and persuade them to listen to the proposals you will bring. However, it will be up to you to convince these races to join the anti-Sathar coalition. the Eorna are not yet prepared to allow their true nature to be known to the races involved in the Great Mission.

The Eorna will provide you with a complete map of Volturnus, showing the probable location of the Mechanon complex. The Eorna once built a planetary defense system to defend against attack from space. It is not knwon how much of this system is still operative, but the system's master control is in the hands of the Mechanons. You will have to determine how to activate the system once you enter the Mechanon complex, since the Mechanons may have modified the equipment.

The Eorna will equip each of you with a polyvox programmed for the languages of the Ul-Mor, the Kurabanda, and the Edestekai.

The Eorna will supply you with enough jetcopters to carry your entire party.  They do not care in which order you contact the races, but you must hurry.

While you are gone, the Eorna will build what weapons they can and will also capture and take cybernetic control of various dangerous beasts who can be used in the battle against the Sathar.

Once you have succeded in uniting the races of Volturnus, the battle will be fought near the ruins of the city of Volkos. As the only center of advanced civilization on the planet, the Eorna complex must be protected.

Re: Log 3-1 STARSPAWN OF VOLTURNUS

As the party leaves the Eorna and head for the jetcopters, Bartja interjects his opinions (as he is want to do frequently).

"Some of us have passed the test to become Ul-Mor.  I think we should go there first.  In fact, I think we should visit the three races first to bring them together.  Once we've secured that alliance, then I think we should seek out these Mechanons.  They're an unknown factor that quite frankly scares the bujeezes out of me.  Robots that are sentient?  Thats just wrong!"

After the harrowing experiences, Frisky remained silent for a long time.  He nodded with Bartja's suggestions.  Then he says, "Problem is, though, that most of us joined the group later and didn't pass the test.  Maybe they won't notice?"  He looks around at the other new members of the crew.

Desiraye steps up next to Bartja.  "I agree.  We need to get as many of the races together as we can to have any kind of chance.  The numbers will help but, we'll be at a disadvantage with their weapons.  Most of them are still using archaic weapons.  Beggars can't be choosers I guess huh?"

Desiraye then turns to Fr'ssky, "Those of us who have passed the tests will do most of the negotiating Fr'ssky.  The rest can just be there to support us in case we overlook something."

Re: Log 3-1 STARSPAWN OF VOLTURNUS

The party decides to go to the Ul-Mor first.  You arrive safely at the Ul-Mor settlement, where you are greeted by Athru, an Ul-Mor chieftain.

Before you can begin saying anything, he says to you:  "You are lucky Ul-Mor members.  You arrive at fortunate time.  You have good fortune to arrive in time to witness the Great Game, one of the most important rituals of the Ul-Mor.  This spectacle and ritual is held only once per year. The fiercest warriors from every Ul-Mor tribe compete in the Great Game. The winner of the game has the coming New Year named after him, and is allowed to have the sacred vision during the "Time Of One-ness," the annual Ul-Mor festival of mating.  You will watch the Great Game, no?"

The professor listened to the Ul-Mor chieftain quietly from behind the others. He was quite intrigued by their race, this being the first time he has seen their kind before.

Desiraye will nod to Athru, "Of course we shall watch the game!  We are honored to be allowed to view this ritual Athru!"

Re: Log 3-1 STARSPAWN OF VOLTURNUS

Bartja nods and turns to Desi and the others.  In a low voice he suggests "maybe we should play in the game?  If we can win it, we can use the leverage to bring the Ul-Mor into the alliance we're trying to form." It doesn't really matter if the Ul-Mor "hear" him, given their telepathic mind-reading abilities....

OOC:  FYI, in case you didn't notice, none of you have actually even explained to Athru that a Sathar Fleet is on its way.

quote:
Before you can begin saying anything

He is blissfully ignorant of that at the moment.  ;)

Athru says, "Alliance?  What alliance.  Your words confuse me."
