Log 3-6 Mechanon Mounds 2

You head south.  The tubular passage twists and turns, but you continue south.

Finally the passage opens into an oddly shaped room (#16):


The ceiling here is a full 20 meters high,
and it needs to be, because in the center
of the area is a huge, 10 meter high metallic
and crystal structure which looks something like
 a bipedal robot.

In one huge hand it holds a laser gun;
in the other it holds an enormous crystal
wrapped with a golden wire coil. There are 12 worker robots
in the area around this central figure.
They appear to be doing nothing but staring at it.

There are two passageway exits to the east,
one just north of the other.


The combat robots are still far behind you, probably just arriving at the prison cell and finding it empty, but you realize they may get close within the next minute or two.

Frisky says, "Live and let live, I say.  If they're not interested in us, let's keep ahead of those combat robots, and let's keep going south."  He points to the hall on the south side.  "All roads lead to Rome, isn't that what you humans say?"

Frisky isn't really interested in the statue of the robot at the moment, nor at disturbing it, delaying and bringing more trouble on the party.

Bartja agrees.  "Let's hit the southern tunnel and try to avoid those combat bots," he says.

Before moving out Desiraye turns to the three, now freed prisoners, "Listen to me!  We need you three to stop arguing.  It is true, we're working with each of your races to fight a greater evil and all have agreed to do so with us and each other.  You three need to start working together, and with us now!  We need to try and contact the persons who have imprisoned you to try and help us fight that greater evil.  We don't want to destroy what might help us fight later.  Let's go Bartja," Desiraye says as she turns and heads down the corridor.

You head east on the southern hall.

As you round the corner in the corridor, you see before you a large, irregularly constructed door. In front of the door stand three combat robots.  They are completely motionless.  They carry sonic disruptors, and you can see laser rifles slung over their shoulders.

When you come into view, the three combat robots jump to life, swinging the sonic disruptors in your direction to fire!

"On for.....!  Back, back to the diamond shaped room!"  Sergi begins to move back covering the Combots with his pistol.

"Fall back!," Becka yelled, glad to have remained armed and at the rear of the group.  Making eye contact with Desiraye, she adds, "I'm taking the first shot I see."

The party retreats into the diamond shaped room.  The attack bots follow.  They fire:

One of the robots miss.  The other hits...Kri'lik, for 24 damage.  The third one's sonic disruptor vibrates and explodes in its hand.  It charges forward with its bare...fists...metallic and crystalline hands.

The other robots in the room are still staring mesmerized at the giant statue, unaware of the battle around them.

Dropping clumsily to one knee, Becka raises her weapon to take a shot at a robot.

OOC: While trying to focus on the robots that are still armed, she will take the most opportune shot that presents itself.

The force of the hit knocks to Vrusk nearly off his many feet. "I'm hit! Oh god it hurts!! AGHHH!" The professor then tries to make his way for cover, putting anything he can between himself and the robots. Hes pretty sure another hit like that and he is done for.

Finding cover where I can and then try an heal myself. Only 11 STA left.

Desiraye lines up the other armed combat robot in her sights and fires a shot at it with her laser rifle.

Frisky fires at the nearest robot.  "I want to get through that security door," he comments as he tries to circle around behind the combat bots.

Bartja also fires at the closest robot, using one of the prone robots as cover.

"Alright, everyone calm down before someone or thing gets seriously bent!"

After running back and forth with the others, S'Krllk decides to attempt to utilize one of the "worshipper 'bots". Circling the statue in an attempt to avoid the combat, he'll begin an examination of the worshipping robots to try to either communicate with it or suborn it to his own means.

A barrage of gunfire ensues...

In the midst of the smoke and flying lasers and disrupter blasts, your new Edestekai friend is fatally hit and falls to the floor.  You are able to take down the three combat bots.

Meanwhile, the noise has alerted the combat bots still trying to find you.  They are weaving through the turning corridors to the north.

Frisky makes it to the door and...unlocks it!
