Battle Strategy Thread

Here's a thread so you guys can discuss your strategy and come up with a final decision.  I'm still deciding whether to create a map or just eyeball it using the map they recommend.

I think the first step is to list each of our combat skills so the most qualified gets the best weapon.

I'm currently Giro Weapons 2, Lazer 2

Re: Battle Strategy Thread

OK, looking like me and Frr'sky are the better shooters of the group... I suggest for those don't have some level of skill take some in a weapon for this encounter if you can...

The Robotics, Tech, and Med skills are all going to be useful to us as well... Just think you should be able to defend yourselves in some way if needed.  This last encounter is not a pretty one from what I recall...

Sergi, you got any other skills besides the weapon skills you listed?

Sorry - I got caught sleeping. =)

As Desiraye can attest - and thank you for the XP guidance - Becka is sorely in need of some weapon skills.  Luckily I have some XP to dole out, so I may be able to address that.  Per Desiraye, I will skill up in Beam weapons...

... as soon as I figure out the math. :p

Re: Battle Strategy Thread

As all warfare is based on deception, we should attempt to appear unable to attack. If we expose a small force off to one side of the gun, when the defenders of the emplacement are enticed to attack the "bait force", we take out the operators of the gun, and then either turn the weapon or destroy it.
If we manage to take the gun, we should begin to fire on the center of their line, so that we may divide their forces. At the same time, the intended aerial maneuvers should be performed as quickly as possible to take advantage of the confusion.
Also, it would be good of us to remember that no battle plan ever survives the first contact with the enemy.

WOW!  All of this coming from the Projectile Level-1 guy?  LOL, just joking and you're right on the mark with your statement!  I like the idea of a "bait force" making a diversionary attack (perhaps the robots or some of them?).  We can either then go after the gun to try and capture it and use it or just destroy it and put it out of commission.

I would prefer concentrating on the command structure after the gun is knocked out.  That makes us flexible and them inflexible.

In point of fact, everything S'Krllk stated is paraphrased from Sun Tzu and Von Moltke. His personal preference will still be to run away as fast as possible while trilling like an egg-bearer.

Re: Battle Strategy Thread

OK, how about this so far...

We got Fr'rssky on the Heavy Laser +1 Combot as support

We got Bartja and Sergi on the Rocoiless Rifle +1 Combot as support

Desiraye will lead the rest of the force (PC's and remainder of the Combots) on foot and attempt to assault the cannon and the area, very slowly...

Targets:
1). Cannon
2). Warbots (500 STA)
3). Combat Robots (100 STA)
4). Cybots (100 STA)

Cannon is obviously the main objective.  We can either destroy or capture it.  The Warbots are secondary targets and I'm thinking after one [1] round of our support weapons firing at the cannon, one of the two weapons switches their targets to the big warbots who will be the toughest todestroy by the ground party due to STA and its weapons package.

Anyone got anything else or we go with this?

When in doubt, you can simply fire from where you are at and have your combots do the same, all concentrated on a single foe.  A couple people doing that will probably help the others focused on a more complicated strategy.

Just pick what you will want to shoot at from the list of different icons on the map.

Desiraye can get to cover under the second embankment.  It's full cover there.  There's not room for both robots though.

I'm fairly "map st00pid" so I'll go with whatever is closest as long as a friendly target isn't nearby / in between.

Sorry, I've read through the threads a few times and I'm just not "getting" it.  Combat is my weakest point and I'm floundering without Lerku.

Don't send the other robot until Desiraye can move up more... I don't want to waste the robots because I think they're decent cover fire those lacking the skill levels right now...
