REMINDER OF THE BATTLEFIELD:


As soon as you return from the center lines you receive word via an Ul-Mor rider, that the Eorna skirmish line on your right flank is in serious trouble. Some new monsters have been unleashed by the Sathar, and the Eorna are totally unable to stand against them. Already they are dying and retreating. Soon these monsters will turn the flank of the Edestekai, unhinging the entire line of your
army! The Eorna desperately need your help.

As you approach the scene of the crisis, you are able to see several of the huge monsters. They are enormous cybots, apparently part reptilian, part robot. They are rampaging through the Eorna front. This hideous creation of the Sathar has a huge metallic head with eyes that blaze firth laser beams. Flames shoot from its "mouth" which is full of horrid metallic teeth. The creature's appearance suggests the name:  cybodragon!

While you are dispatching a desperate call for reinforcements, you see a Sathar ground vehicle roar up behind one of the cybodragons. Two Sathar technicians emerge from the vehicle and the cybodragon comes to a halt. The technicians slither up the sides of the now stilled beast and remove a plate from the back of its head. An object is removed from inside, and another inserted in its place. The technicians get back into their vehicle and the monster continues its attack. The technicians head for the next cybodragon.  It is obvious that the power required by such a creation is enormous. That Sathar vehicle holds the supply of extra power packs! The only way to halt the cybodragon attack is to destroy or capture that truck immediately.



SITUATION:  The Sathar have attacked the weakest point of the Volturnus forces' line with their cybodragons. At this instant, the cybodragon nearest you has ceased attacking, awaiting new power packs from the Sathar mobile supply unit (the ground truck). Of course, there is still sporadic firing, and the cybodragon is still a formidable foe, for it retains its flame thrower and melee
capabilities. Once recharged, its laser weapons will also function again.

GOAL:  You must destroy or capture the mobile supply unit. This will prevent the Sathar from providing new power packs for the cybodragon. It will also give an example to the other troops, for it enough such trucks can be knocked out, the
Sathar forces will soon be out of ammunition!


Here is the map.  On this map, ignore the #4 and related icons/arrows.  You are looking at #3 with the related eorna forces.



You are approaching from the point where the word "highway" is.  You still have the recoiless rifle, but it is not set up yet (1 turn to set up).

The refueling truck will take one turn to reach the cybodragon.  It is approaching from the bottom area of the ancient road.  After reaching the southern cybodragon, it must remain with it for 4 turns before refueling is complete.  You have essentially 5 rounds to make a go of this.  There are 10 sathar, 2 at each of the places marked, and two on the truck.

Bartja sets up the recoiless rifle to fire at the truck when it's up and ready.

 Throwing an idea out to the others as Bartja sets up the rifle, Kri'lik says, "Perhaps now would be a good time to call in our air cover and perhaps send in those megasauruses under Eorna control."

"Agreed!  Let's call in the air cover and set up the recoiless rifle," Desiraye says as she switches out power packs/belt on her laser rifle.

Seeing the veteran warrior Desiraye checking her power usage, professor Kri'lik does the same for his beam weapons switching SEU sources as needed.

"Groovy, lets hit that truck with everything we have then mop up the rest!"

Emboldened by his previous success, or maybe just knocked silly by the concussion waves of nearby explosions, S'Krllk begins to approach the cybodragon that has run out of ammunition. Perhaps he believes he can turn it against the Sathar, or perhaps he's just a distraction to allow the Sathar to waste ammo on.

ROUND 1

In the ensuing fight, you get weapons set up and loaded and call the air strike.

The Eorna begin firing at the 10 Sathar, which keeps them temporarily occupied in finding cover and firing back.

The 2 megasauruses are unleashed to attack the Sathar and begin descending to do that.

ROUND 2
Desiraye and Bartja hit the truck.  A hole is blown into one side, and Desiraye nearly, but not quite, hits the driver.  Instead, her laser melts the glass, slowing down the truck slightly as the Sathar rolls down the window and sticks its head out to stear.

The megasauruses will arrive next round.  One of the Sathar is killed and one injured.  The Sathar seem to be coordinating their attack on one Eorna at a time, and one of the Eorna is killed.

The Sathar look in your direction as you attack the truck, and one waves an arm in your direction.

5 Sathar turn toward you while the remaining 4 continue to attack the Eorna and megasauruses.

OOC: Sorry for the delays; I've been traveling on business and am going out of town again today.  I tend to work all the time without any internet access when I travel.

Bartja will continue to fire at the truck as long as he is able.

 Kri'lik watches the enemy Sathar split their forces. Now is as good a time as any to be heroic, the professor comments to himself. As the Sathar split in two Kr'lik shifts his aim upon the enemy slugs who are engaged with his Eorna allies.

"Die you Sathar scum!" He yells at the enemy in their own language.

 The doctor takes aim and fires his laser rifle at the nearest sathar attacking the eorna.

Desiraye tries tomake herself as small as she can to the oncoming Sathar fire while she tries to return accurate fire at them.

Becka runs forward until she has a good clear shot of the nearest sathar.  Then she fires at it after taking careful aim.

ROUND 3
The 5 sathar open fire on you...

Becka is hit for 42 damage.
Desiraye is hit for 36 damage.
Bartja is hit for 12 damage.

The truck has reached the strange cybodragon now, and its driver and passenger (both Sathar) are powering up the cybodragon.

Desiraye hits one of the 5 Sathar.  Sergi hits the same one.  The sathar goes down, leaving only 4.

Kri'lik hits another sathar, wounding it.

Bartja hits the vehicle with the recoilless for 66 structural points of damage.

(Your air strike will arrive next round.  You already see them gliding in.  But more Sathar are also coming closer to get into position behind the others.)

The sathar manage to shoot down one of the megalasaurs, but not before it rips a sathar body to shreds.  One of the Eorna is hit by two shots, and he also collapses.

The Eorna manage to take out two more Sathar, leaving just 1 (plus the 4 aiming at you).

But then the 5 replacements step into place.  4 of them aim at the eorna and their strange dinosaur creature.  1 joins the ranks of those aiming at you.

Bartja continues to fire at the truck, keeping the recoiless trained on it to ensure better accuracy.

Desiraye winces from the hit from one of the Sathar rifles but, she continues to return accurate fire back on the advancing enemies at her and her companions.  "HIT 'EM HARD!" Desiraye yells out to her companions around her.

Becka fires again at the nearest Sathar.

S'Krllk wavers between attempting to do in the Sathar, and fleeing the cybodragon, until he remembers a phrase oft repeated by some previous humans he had occasion to see... "discretion is the better part of valor".
Therefore, S'Krllk attempts to sneak back away from the hideous death that surely awaited him.

Sergi will continue to fire at the Sathar, giving cover to our heroic RR gunner and trying to be as small a target as possible.

Professor Kri'lik continues to concentrate his efforts on aidding the Eorna. That is unless one of his allies calls for medical aid.
