Bugs In The System 1-12

Ellen is clearly shaken by what just happened. She leads you back to the bridge so you can avoid the radioactive robot.  "The robot itself will remain dangerously radioactive for some time," she says, anxious to leave the engine area.

She checks back at the bridge and says, "We need to protect the product we've brought in.  By-Chem relief ship arrives in..."  She checks the Computer, and says, "...12 days."

DAY 114

BY-CHEM RELIEF SHIP ARRIVES:  DAY 126

She is tired, and it has been a long day. She suggests everyone rest for the night.  "Baralou is gone.  The danger is over."  She is haggard and clearly unnerved to be the last surviving crew member, other than the infected robot that just left in the workpod.

Then Ellen's eyes open wide.  "Oh, no," she says.  "The computer shows that there has been a breach in the hull on deck 8.  The workpod has attached itself there and broken through the hull."

You can see the red buttons flashing on a map of the ship.

She continues, "The elevator was just used to go to Deck 7.  Someone -- it's gotta be Baralou -- is on the computer there, and -- "

The computer screen in front of Ellen goes blank.

"We've lost access," she says.  "Baralou's on the ship somewhere, and she's got full access of the computers, but...but..."  Ellen takes a deep breath.  "But Deck 7 also contains the master controls for the life support system in the ship and has the only lifeboat."  Her voice falls to a contemplative whisper, "And Barlou is the only one of us who doesn't need life support."

Re: Bugs In The System 1-12

Just after Ellen finishes speaking, you see a blinking light near the elevator.  It is being used.  Baralou is on the move, but you don't know what she's done on or to Deck 7.  Because of the hull breach, there is no air or air pressure on Deck 7 and appropriate precautions will be necessary.

Sergi contemplates the situation and says, "We may need to split up.  Some to go chase down Baralou and some to go down and fix whatever Baralou did to mess up Deck 7.  What do you think?"

"I agree. Im not much good in a fire fight though." The Doc says as he pats his laser pistol. He does reach down and reactivate his screen defenses. "I'll go where needed however."

"Guess I got the Frak 'em up team then," Desiraye says as they begin to split and end this.

"I'll go with the repair team. We'll need to suit up, but maybe I can repair the hull breach so we won't need to stay suited long. Actually, considering that Baralou's been messing with life support, we should probably all suit up."

The doctor nods in agreement when S'Krllk mentions the suits. "You are correct in your statement." he then follows the other Vrusk to the suits.

So I see that Desi, Kuurn, and Sergi are going after Baralou.  Where are you going to go?

The others, unless specified otherwise, will go try to repair the life support area.

Sergi says, "If she's trying to mess with the ship in a way to get us killed, my best guess is she's going to deck 5 where all those master control computers are located.  Why don't we check there?"

Desiraye nods at Sergi's suggestion as she gears up to the hilt.  "Good a place as any to start.  We need to know any hiding places that Baralou might favor on the ship Ellen.

I want max load out on weapons and ammo.  No telling who or what he's, it;s git with him so, I want to take him out as quick as possible without punching a hole in the ship.  Bring some personal life support with you too!

Also, I'm going to need another laser pistol to replace the one I lost, few powerclips too.  Make sure you all have fresh power sources for your screens."

Re: Bugs In The System 1-12

Those going to life support find that they've got a big problem.  Baralou has locked you out of the computer system.  At the computers and life support, you realize that Baralou must be able to access these remotely, wirelessly.  In other words, she can access the ships computers and control electronic functions just by being in the vicinity of what she wants to control, or close to a ship computer.

You can only guess that she, as a robot with an artificial intelligence, has been infected by the Matrix too.

However, to release the computers and fix life support, you need to take down Baralou first.

Life support indicates you have 2 hours left until things get critical aboard Moneyspider.  The areas will be affected as follows:

Deck 8: currently no oxygen or life support.
Deck 7: 30 min. remaining
Deck 6: 1 hour remaining
Deck 5: 1 hour remaining
Deck 4: 1 hour, 15 min.
Deck 3: 1 hour, 30 min.
Deck 2: 2 hours
Deck 1: 2 hours

Snobol: unaffected

Those going to the stronghold area have perhaps an even greater problem.  The security robot stands there (in M14), calls out, "Security Breach!" and starts to advance toward you.

The security robot has an upright cylindrical body. As you recall from the encounter on Flotsom, its metallic "skin" is electrified like a stunstick. (Anyone touched must make a Stamina check or be stunned (unless protected by a gauss screen or A/S implant). The skin is powered by the same battery as the screen.

The doors to M15 are closed.  M15 holds key chemicals in tanks, and also has the main computer server for the ship and the main life support server.

Sergi draws his laser pistol and fires at the security robot.  He circles around the room to the southwest area.  "Let's surround the thing," he suggests as he does this.

Re: Bugs In The System 1-12

Kri'lik opens up a comm channel to those headed to the stronghold. "We've got a bit of a problem in life support. It appears Baralou may be able to access the ships computers remotely and we are locked out. Oh and we have only about 2 hours untill all life support is turned off on all decks of the ship. Didnt want to add any pressure to you all..."
