I just ordered a copy of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" rpg, having heard a lot of good things about it. However, I'm only 2/3 of the way through the second book, and have never watched an episode of the TV series. Does the rule book contain spoilers that will destroy my soul and make me wish I'd never cracked the cover?

Yes, it does. Big time.

I'm looking through my copy, trying to figure out how far you need to read, to get ahead of the game books.

I don't see anythig from A Dance With Dragons, so you only need to read the first four books.

However, if you join a game, you'll pretty much have to avoid the OOC thread like a plague colony, as the other players will certainly post spoilers from all books and episodes.
