The Pattern Room
"Now don't touch it, even in jest. The pattern burns hotter then any fire, or lightning strike. In Rebma it is like lightning in the water itself. I can tell you a bit about the Pattern now that we are here to look at it."
She gestures out to it the place near the beginning, "That is the start of it were you would begin your walk. You will feel a connection to it which is hard to describe. Like a force pulling your feet down. One cannot swim a Pattern even in Rebma. There are three great tides, they probably go by a different name here but the tides will try to halt you, they will push back against you. One is physical, one is mental, and one spiritual. Once you get past a tide things will go easier for a short while. Do not get overconfident. Watch your feet when you walk and always keep them on the Pattern. Once you start do not stop, you will die if you do."
She walks about the pattern never touching it but motioning to Amber's Pattern's veils. What she refers to as great tides.
"The hardest tide is near the end, you can't really see the end from here. At the center you can ask it to take you anywhere. Trust me, you will be so exhausted from walking it that you won't want to ask it to send you anyplace but your nice comfy bed. This is personal, don't have it send you to the enemy or anything vague like that. If you go to say the commander of these Gray Men you will be too exhausted to fight effectively. Do yourself a favor and so the rest of us don't worry about you, have it send you to your bed where you can sleep off the Pattern walk. When you get to the end you will know the powers you have at your disposal. It will also slow your aging to a crawl."
After her speech she takes notes, draws sketches and otherwise studies the pattern in a pseudo scientific and mystical way. Seeming very intent on her studies of it.
