Players will start at 1st level as per RAW

1. Pick a race (as per Core, Player's Handbook and Sword Coast Adventure Guide)
   
2. Pick a class  (same as above)
   
3. Pick Ability Scores (we will use the 27pt buy variant as per PHB)
   
4. Pick a Background
   
5. Pick Equipment (either taking class defaults or creating custom list)

Allowed Sources
Currently I am allowing the following books:

• Core Rules (duh)
• Player's Handbook
• Sword Coast Adventure Guide
• Xanathar's Guide to Everything

Anything else you can suggest but in general I don't like expanding beyond the core set too much, especially with 3rd party publishing that tends to not be very balanced either mechanically or with lore.

Also NO PSIONICS. PERIOD.

This game will be set in the Forgotten Realms at the Southern tip of the Sword Coast. I highly encourage doing some research on the Forgotten Realms wiki to get up to speed with recent events and find some details to help tie your character to the setting. If you are not familiar with the setting feel free to just put placeholders in your character bio and we can work together to fill those in.

I am allowing any alignment with the caveat that the purpose of the game is to make Heroes. It's right there in the title of the game. If you can convincingly swing a Chaotic Evil necromancer as a heroic character then kudos to you but this is not a game intended to become a hobo murder simulator. If you choose to be evil you will need to be very smart about it and be open to a path of sifting your alignment towards good as you progress through the story.
