Okay, here we go! I figured it would be fastest to just resurrect my old game that I had no takers for at the time.

At the end of her backstory I left her in Atlantic City, using her powers to cheat at poker.  She can't manipulate the deck, so she can't win every hand (and wouldn't want to even if she could, people would start to get suspicious!).  But she can know what cards everyone else is holding.  She's trying to play it relatively subtle, just winning enough every few nights to keep her fed and pay for her room at the casino hotel for a while.

Also she's not 21, and does not really look 21, so she has to occasionally psychically nudge the security staff to let her keep playing.

Just one more thing... my game are, in general, set at "General..." I'm not big on sexytime//romance games/plots.

No problem with me.  I mean, I wouldn't mind if Lucy were to be pursued romantically, but it's not a thing she's prioritizing (for obvious reasons) and I wouldn't be the slightest bit interested in playing out any sexytimes explicitly or graphically at all.  The only thing that would concern me about a General rating would be Lucy's tendency to cuss just amazingly abusively.  She has a mouth like a longshoreman (in two languages!).  Would a Mature rating (definitely not Adult though) be comfortable for you?

I just like to stick to General to avoid sex and gore etc.

I'm definitely on board with that understanding.

Honestly the rating doesn't really make a difference to me?  I just don't have a clear sense of where RPoL's line is drawn about dirty words, and I wouldn't want either of us to get on the wrong side of the mods whenever Lucy bitches anyone out.  :)

I'm in US Central time, but I work overnights.  But also a lot of times I can get a post or two in at my desk in the early mornings.  So my schedule will likely seem very weird.

I recently discovered the game THE BLOODY-HANDED NAME OF BRONZE, and fell in love with its concepts.

(Of course, it's well-known in certain circles that the rules are a little confusing, so I tinkered with them and clarified everything I could think of to clarify.)

But I'm dying to play (my version).

That does look like a fascinating game!  And I definitely appreciate the offer.  But I probably should let you give that spot to someone else, I only let myself join a pretty small number of games before I get spread too thin and start to let things slide, and I'm right about at that cap now.  Thanks for thinking of me though!

The next time she comes to Hector, there may be a surprise or two-- too early yet to say the number, size, or good/bad ratio of the surprise or surprises.

I've played bit of poker in RL.  Lucy is probably better at it than me, but I sorta kinda have a clue what I'm talking about.

Also I just wanted to say that I'm liking the game so far!  I have no clue at all yet what direction it's going, which is great.

The most poker I've played was against the dealer on an Intellivision from the late 1970s.

Basically this ultra-winter weather (makes the brain want to hibernate) and power outages (disrupts work schedule, also family needs extra-entertaining) has disrupted my schedule... I'll do my best, but this weekend I won't have 5 spare hours per day to play like I usually do lately...

Ooo, gotcha.  Are you in TX with the thoroughly jacked up power grid there?  I have two friends who both moved to TX recently from nearer to me (I'm in Wisconsin) who are amused and frustrated by Texans reacting in shock and horror to what's basically just a routine February here.  :)

Well a small part of it is that Texas isn't part of the national grid, but that's probably as much a good thing as a bad thing

The big problem is that no one paid extra to making sure that the big giant wind turbines couldn't freeze up

So they saved money by not paying for the no-freeze-up thing

1. Texans (who aren't me) don't know how to DRIVE on slippery AT ALL

2. Texans like the IDEA of fireplaces, but they know they'll probably never use them... So they have no staying-warm skills when there's no power

Oh, definitely I'm not cutting on anybody, this sort of weather is definitely a big deal to anyone who isn't used to it, especially if their whole infrastructure is institutionally not used to it.  Wasn't meaning to slight anybody for sure.

It has incidentally come to my attention that frozen-up turbines aren't the entire problem nor even most of the problem. Don't really understand what is, when we can apparently handle the electrical output of everyone having their air conditioning on in 108-degree heat in the summer (not that air conditioning can cope with that, but it's on), but...

Sorry for the delay, but this is the first day in days where I've woken up feeling fine.

Sounds weak in this era of a global pandemic which I don't have, but feeling bad is feeling bad and feeling fine is feeling fine, so heck with it, I felt bad and now I don't.

Been a busy couple of days here, sorry!  I'll get a post up tonight though, probably overnight.

Soooo....  I've kept telling myself that I'm going to have time to get back to RPoL gaming any day now, but changes to my work schedule have seemed to make that sort of a vain hope.  I'm enjoying this game and my character but I'm thinking it may be unrealistic for me to be able to get back to it for a while.  It may be best to let this go on hiatus for now, or I'll totally understand if you'd rather just close it out and invest your GMing bandwidth elsewhere.  I feel like I've kind of jerked you around a bit here and I apologize for that, I'm just having a pretty stressful couple of months.
