The most tragic thing about the “swallow n spiders per year” myth is that it originated as an example of an outlandish claim that people could take as fact when spread online, only to see that fictional statistic spread online and taken as fact.

Fascinating! My IRL field is Infectious Disease so the crossover with MRSA is very interesting to me. A lot of people aren't aware that S. aureus spp. are pretty common to carry as part of the skin biome (like 33% of people-ish), with about 2% of individuals carrying MRSA in their nose.

Ah! Both Redmond and Lone Star were chosen arbitrarily based on what came to mind the soonest. I’ll revise the post accordingly.

Edit: Going with San Lorenzo and Knight Errant. If San Lorenzo is indeed barrens then it is the one that appears to be the closest to San Francisco. And Knight Errant is the only security company whose name I recognize offhand.
