Kade takes a huge lungful of blessed air even as Saviour bursts in through the just-opened door, to his enthousiastic greeting: “We saved!” he declares to one and all.

... And then he spots Regen lying on the floor and rushes to help prop him up with a worried Jax... “Bad?”

OOC: How is Regen? Is he still alive?
08:05, Today: Kade SpiritShaker rolled 20 with the Tunnels & Trolls, Saving Throws system (2 & 2, 5 & 5, 2 & 4).  Curse of the pharaohs (LK 27). – Wow

Re: Third Delve

Biror and Korg cry out in pain; both feel as though their bodies are on fire and are driven to their knees in agony. The staff falls from Biror's grip and it lands on the floor at Thea's feet. The sensation passes as quickly as it came, but the damage is done (Biror -4 CON, Korg -8 CON).

Kade rushes over to where Regen has fallen, where Jax has kneeled over him and rolled him over. Checking him carefully, Kade realizes that he is dead.

Re: Third Delve

Thea, having been heavily staggered by the gas, and only now recovered enough to think straight and to once again use her magical training to study both the sarcophagus and then the magical staff on the floor, the former to to determine what had just happened, and the latter to see if there was anything unusual about the staff that she needed to know before she risked touching it.

OOC: casting Omnipotent Eye twice (assuming we have time to do so), expending 1 WIZ each for the two items

Re: Third Delve

In reply to Thurek Ironmonger (msg # 315):

"Helped with stars in sky," Kade sadly remembers... He goes to close Regen's eyes but then startles to his feet when the others cry out in pain!

"Bad power? Where?" Trying to see an invisible enemy, short swords at the ready, testing the air. "Where atama? Get out of big box and hurt Kade's friends? Lakulmia - Lakulmia! - find for Kade!"

OOC: Kade and savior will thoroughly search in, over and around the sarcophagus for an invisible ennemy while Thea does her thing. :)
While he's at it, any secret compartment or passage within the sarcophagus itself perchance?

Re: Third Delve

Thea uses her magic to find the secrets of the sarcophagus and the staff.

Thea senses that there is something else hidden about the sarcophagus. She can still sense magic coming from it, an item perhaps. She does not sense any more magical traps.

The staff tells Thea that's it's name is Nubis and that it would be happy to serve her; anything to get out of this tomb. The staff itself is made of highly polished black wood. It's 4' long at is topped by a golden hawk with very small emeralds for eyes.

Kade searches the area around the sarcophagus and inside.

At the foot of the inside of the sarcophagus, Kade finds a secret compartment. Opening it, he discovers a scroll. Thea and Korg sense that it is magical.

Re: Third Delve

"There's something still inside the sarcophagus, something magical, an item perhaps" Thea says as she reaches forward to grab the staff.  "I believe the curse on the sarcophagus itself," she spares a glance at the corpse of the fallen Regan, "has been expended and is no longer a threat, at least for the moment."

Holding the staff in her hand, she continues.  "This staff is named Nubis, and it is willing to assist us, as it is quite eager to leave this tomb."

OOC: hopefully I'm not coming off as too greedy in picking up/claiming the staff - when it fell from Biror's hands she wasn't certain at the time if that was just a result of the sarcophagus curse, or if it was something inherent to the staff.  The fact that the staff is mentally communicating with her mentally is something she's taking as a good sign for her to use it.

Does Biror have a magic staff?  If not, Thea can give him the one that she had been using.

Slowly, Biror gets up and looks again inside the sarcophagus, looking for clues while others decipher the scroll.
10:51, Today: Biror rolled 6 with the Tunnels & Trolls, Saving Throws system.  Looking for clues.
Biror is not really interested in a magic staff, preferring melee or range weapons. At any rate, he was about to offer it to Thea.

Re: Third Delve

"No find hidden atama," Kade sadly reports to the dwarf as he looks inside. Saviour too looks puzzled. "Only slidy-" openinng gesture "- with long-long leaf?" He unfurls the found scroll with a dramatic flick, then, if it's not a map of some kind, tosses it over his tiny shoulder and right out of the sarcophagus! (for Thea or korg to pick up if they want :) ). "How is Old One? Bad pain come back soon?"

The non-stop mysteries of the tomb, plus the recent death, seem to be getting to him.

He wipes the sweat from his brow, almost panting in the ongoing heat.

OOC: I think the extra item might be the scroll, do we already found it? Might be wrong about that though

Thea turns her attention to the growing flame from the pot with her magical senses.

Expending another point of WIZ via Omnipotent Eye toward the pot, to see what is causing the flame to increase.

OOC: yeah, somehow I had missed a couple of posts when I wrote my last post, it's probably the scroll that Thea was detecting.  Apologies for the confusion.

The scroll falls to the floor and rolls away from the sarcophagus. Kade and Biror find nothing else of note inside the sarcophagus. Not even a body oddly enough...

The flame in the pot rises even higher, reaching up over six feet. Thea senses summoning magic at work. Then the flames part and out steps a massive blackened figure with blazing red eyes.

Biror:
"What... What are you?" he asks, as if in a dream.

"Who you?" agrees Kade with an accusing finger. He's flipped up on top of the other end of the opened big box, one feet on each corner so he's about level with the new apparition. "Fire Eye Atama one that hurt Kade's friends before?"

Saviour barks once from the back.
