Player Discussion* (OOC)

GM:
(OOC)
I expect there may be some questions as this is the first combat many of you have tried with this system so please ask away in the OOC thread, thanks.

I'll throw a few out.

1) I gather from the way you've teed up this encounter, we can fire our rifles for the first attack, and (presumably) maintain position and continue to fire in subsequent rounds, until the enemy engages us?

2) at that point I would fight with bayonet (since it seems to be the best option, compared to rifle butt, knife, or fists - at least for my character), although we could choose any of those alternatives if we had reason to do so?

3) After we fire a round, do we need to indicate that we are re-loading before taking another shot? Or is that a given?

4) does re-loading take a round, or can we re-load and fire in the same round?

Non-combat question: do you still want us to hold off for now, on using the XP we have gained?

I went ahead and made an attack roll using the hyperlink. Unless there are any modifiers in this encounter, it appears to be a miss, so I didn't roll for damage. Also, I wasn't sure what to do about INIT.

Is the cannon loaded or is there any order to do so now the shit hits the fan. After being an accecory to all the npc's talking it feels wrong to break formation just to be present with the riflemen. I got a cannon and i plan to use it ;-)

Unless stated otherwise, combat is handled one round at a time.

The combat resolution thread will list all combat modifiers, +15% is already added to aimed rifle shots.

Combat rounds are 6 seconds, it takes a full round to reload a rifle (which is probably too fast) and you need to state when you are reloading.

There is a link for Initiative top right of your sheets, it will say Initiative Mod+ a number, should be easy to find.

The Canon is outside, it is not yet loaded, none of the Yankee leaders have indicated any desire to fire at unarmed civilians.  Brian can stay outside if you prefer.

There has been no time or opportunity to spend any X points, I will let everyone know when you can.

Yes for most of you the bayonet would be the best melee weapon.

My INIT mod is 6, but there's no link in my CS. It's possible I inadvertently deleted it when I typed the "6" in the box.

Your character sheets combat rolls for rifles include, half DEX, plus 15% aimed shot + weapon skill level.  It does not include range, wounds, cover etc

Characters with pistols will have the option of a single aimed shot, or three rapid fire shots.

Melee weapons have weapon 'to hot' modifiers (see the combat resolution thread), these are included on your character sheets as well as skill level.

Map Group 0 is the city square of Suzdal with the church on one side and palace on the other.  The canon and most of the troops are camped in front of the palace.

Map Group 1 is the corridor inside the palace where the fighting is taking place.

Hey folks! I'm glad to be in the game. I read three or four of the books about a decade ago and love the setting. I am looking forward to a great game with a superb GM and wonderful group of players.

I still have some tweaking to do but there is a basic layout of Fort Lincoln in the Main Map group, the city square in Group 0 and a Map of the area from the city of Suzdal to Fort Lincoln in Group 1.

Just in case I was too vague, you are all part of the group assigned to unloading the ship.  I'll give everyone a chance to make a post, perhaps you want to speculate among yourselves about what kind of skills you think you want to improve or ask about who might be able to tutor you etc but you don't have to spend any points yet, you can save them for later.
