Re: Household

Name: Daelor Araleos
Heritage: Son of Taemyx Araleos, who migrated from Volantis and managed to rebuild his fortune on the shores of the Vale.
Age: 42 Middle Aged
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 210
Status: 5

Spouse: Visenya - daughter of a Pentoshi Merchant Jaehaerys Tartalor.
Their marriage was arranged because both families share a direct lineage to Old Valyria.
Children: Aegon - Son; Daenys - Daughter

Daelor’ s Appearance: Silver hair with a pale complexion. His violet eyes provide a cool glare in negotiations. He bears a scar on the right side of his neck neck.

As steward for House Sylvayne he is seen around their domain managing the back room affairs. He prefers to speak bluntly and with precision.

Daelor served the Sylvayne House for over 20 years, initially as a clerk helping with the bookkeeping for the mines. When House Sylvayne were called to arms during Robert’s rebellion, he emptied his savings to purchase a suit of armor. With no training to speak of he survived a grievous wound at the Battle of the Bells.

During the intense fighting at the Battle of the Bells (282 AL), Daelor found himself fighting alongside Hoster Tully. He managed to shield Lord Tully from a mortal wound but nearly perished himself with a gash on the side of his neck.

He returned home after the war to discover Visenya heavy with child. Shortly after their marriage, their daughter Daenys was born.

288 AL Traveled to Pentos for trade negotiations and brought his family to see their ancestral homes.

Just reposting this with changes

I could come up with our Master-at-Arms, though it will take a day or two since real life is kinda tough at the moment.

@Red, I guess Gold could have spend some time looking over your shoulder, though he'd probably be bored rather fast and went hunting or practicing.

Assuming you bought literacy (language 3) :P

Daelor was named steward around 5 (291 AL) years ago, a few years after his trade contracts began to reap rewards.

You're supposed to post your character sheet in the PM I've created for character creation so that we can discuss it there. When we have done that, I will open the character sheet.

Re: Household

Gray, as no one other than Green seems to be interested in creating one of the important NC characters for the house, feel free to create another one.

Gold posted a list of who's who for the House. Are those the important roles/characters you want for the House? Is someone missing? Or should someone be removed from that list?

In reply to Silver (msg # 72):

I'm sure there would be some NPC squires. We can't have an influential noble house with no knights, and there's always squires about when there are knights.

Re: Household

We have Cavalry, 20 men and horses, and at least I think they are all knights. Adding to that we have Gray's Cadre of 10, which have at least one knight. Assuming about 30 knights, there will be a number of squires.

Do all of them have their own squire? If they share, how many knights can a squire take care of?

Have we named the father of the House (that is the father of Purple's and Green's characters)? I couldn't find it if we have and I want to consolidate the official information so that we can find it long term.

Re: Household

Based on your two suggestions and the words that can be made by the letters in those two names, as provided by https://scrabblewordfinder.org/solver, I have created your father. His name is even taken from those letters.

His name is Devon and his parents were Derrick and Alysanne nee Stark (a second cousin once removed to Ned Stark). Northern women seem to be popular in the family. Vance and Rodrik were his two uncles. And though there are cousins and second cousins, none of the above individuals are still alive.

From a young age, Devon liked playing with the family dogs and spent more time than appropriate for the heir of the house with them. Grandfather Derrick bought some hunting dogs and a war hound from House Cragborn to direct his son's attention. Though the overkindness, love, and candor he had picked up from the dogs never left him.

Growing up, Devon became a good hunter and a great warrior. But in his spare time he drank too much, he diced too much, and he danced too much.

He was married twice. Purple and Green are children of his second wife. There are no children from the first. Not that anyone ever talks of her. You don't even know what happened to her.

Some months ago, while Devon was out on a hunt with some others, they were attacked by an overwhelming force. And though the hunting party was more skilled and had better weapons, they were sorely outnumbered and out of armor.

The hunting party was able to kill a large number of their attackers, but all of them suffered many wounds. And one of Devon's wounds festered. It had a rancid smell. He clung to life for a couple of months before succumbing. At the rare times he was out of bed, stinking up the castle, he walked with a cane. His favorite dog always with him.

A portion of his character sheet (he is more experienced than a starting character):

Animal Handling 4 - Riding 2B, Train 4B
Deception 1
Fighting 5 - Long Blades 4B
Marksmanship 5 - Bows 4B
Stealth 4 - Sneak 4B
Survival 5 - Hunt 4B, Track 2B

Accurate, Anointed, Blood of Valyria, Fast, Great Hunter, Head of House.
Bound to the Bottle, Honor-Bound.

Re: Household

Here's another one.

Maester Artos.

He is young. Barely old enough to call himself a Maester. And his chain is the shortest chain you've ever had the displeasure of seeing. He is creepy! And you are as likely to find him in his study, in the rookery, or watching you take a bath.

He has a knack for getting into places he's not supposed to be. Like your bathroom.

But since day one, he has been loyal to the House and has completed his tasks quickly. Anticipating unspoken needs and requirements.

Re: Household

I guess I like Arrowmark best.

Here's our lady mother:
Alicent Graceford is from the Reach, and was her husband's closest advisor when it came to matters of politics. Growing up, her father raised her to be a useful tool for her house, blessing her with political skills but also leaving her with a difficult childhood. When she was eighteen she was married of to Lord Sylvayn, half the world away, which was very difficult for her at first. Her relation with the Lord Sylvan eventually grew to be affectionate, although it was never really a matter of love, and the two worked well together. Sharra's careful, innocent ladylike upbringing is partially her mother's doing, in an attempt to give Sharra the childhood she herself would have enjoyed having.

Being from the Reach, Alicent retained an affection for the finer things in life (none of the Vale's wines seem to meet her standards) and for leisurely pursuits like tournaments that she could never quite satisfy in the Vale. She may have influenced her son's affection for hunting, another pastime she enjoys (if in a controlled way; she doesn't like traipsing through the woods for too long).

Re: Household

So the castle is called Arrowmark. And I have two more NC characters.

Septon Arlan is over 70 years old (Very Old) and frail. He has served the House for decades. He is knowledgeable, pious, and the conscience of the House. One of the senior advisors to the Head of the House.

Ser Ben Stone is the Master-At-Arms. At 31 years of age, he is a renowned warrior and a more than competent commander. No one knows his father, but the blood of Old Valyria runs strong in his veins, as his silver hair and purple eyes can attest. He keeps his hair much shorter than what is fashionable.

Septa Moirane is the tutor serving the house. She also happens to be the best healer the house has. She is pious and strong-willed. She knows religion, history, and legends.

Re: Household

Here's a list of a few servants of lesser station.

Alesander is 25 years old and the second most important servant in the stables and kennels.
Valen is 12 years old and a fairly new addition to the stables and kennels.
Benedict is 17 years old and an apprentice to the smith.
Joy is 21 and works in the kitchens.
Myrielle is 15 and is training as a lady's maid.

What all five have in common is that they were born in the household, to five different families. And these five all have the silver hair and purple eyes of Old Valyria, but none of their parents do.

Re: Household

The household has two trackers. They are brothers. Josua (27 years old) and Thaddeus (25 years old). There may, of course, be others who know how to track, but the brothers do it for a living.
