Household

The final step of house creation is the Household step. This is where we talk about who your characters are and what roles they fill. We talk about what other roles are filled in your household. We can also cover your hamlet. Have we named the hamlet? If not, we need to do that.

What are their names?
How do they fit in with the rest of house?
What function do they fill?
What shapes their identity?

The focus in this thread is the narrative elements of these characters. For your characters, you may reveal as much or as little as you would like. For the Narrator Characters, we need to know what we need to know.

In particular, we need to know if we have characters who fill the following roles: Lord, Lady,  other family members, Castellan, Steward, Maester, Septon, Master-at-Arms, Master-of-Horse, Master-of-the-Hunt, Kennelmaster, Vassal Knights, and others.

Some roles may not be filled in the Household. One person can fill more than one role if the sum of those roles in your Household isn't too heavy a burden.

Does the House have any rivals or allies? The Dramatis Personae thread has the list of known noble houses in the nearby area.

We also have House Cragborn(?) as our bannermen and House Quintaine of the Riverlands (from Silver's character idea)  who seem like alies, if perhaps somewhat strained.

Yes, both of those houses exist too. My Dramatis Personae thread haven't included player created houses, but I can add those too if you like.

I have no strong feelings on the matter at present.

So I know Sylvayn's former lord had died (somewhat recently?), but did we determine how that happened? I would like for Lady Sylvayn (Eladra jumps to mind as a name) to still be alive, though that may predominantly be because I have seen so many D&D characters with orphaned backstories.

I have a memory of him dying in combat, but I'm not entirely sure if that's what we decided or if that's just what I imagined.

I don't think we've decided that Lady Sylvayn is alive or dead.

Currently, I am considering Ser Corwyn Sylvayn, one of three brothers who were from the previous generation of Sylvayns (the elder being the former lord, and the younger or his twin being Brown's late husband).

My initial thoughts are of a younger, European spin of Iroh from "Avatar: The Last Airbender". A former soldier, or knight in this case, who now seeks a life of peace and wisdom after experiencing more than enough conflict. Fiercely loyal to his family and a believer in knightly morality and that the strong should protect the weak.

And from what I understand, with Silver's character as your squire. You asked about having more than one squire in one of the other threads, is that your plan?

Not specifically, just curious in case others were interested in playing squires (which don't have to be children, btw) or if it were something I would want to pursue as a story arch down the road.

As second son I’ll play someone who always knew that his brother would inherit and so never really bothered to pay attention in any of his history lessons. I’m not entirely sure about his name yet but he’ll focus on archery, leading men into battle and drinking with the officers and the occasional rank and file soldier.

Yes, if I remember correctly then we added that our late father died fighting a couple of mountain tribesmen.
I think our mother should still be alive as the Narrator will have someone we can ignore or listen to.
