Re: OOC: part 2

so, folks, what's the plan? I think we are down to 2 options: The controlled water room, with faerie and lightning eel, or the plug in the wall of a passage, covered in mildly acidic slime and waiting to be pushed out of the way.

Re: OOC: part 2

might as well push the plug. The surety of acid burns is not that dissimilar from the surety of getting manhandled by a fae

Re: OOC: part 2

Are we already there, or still at the stairwell, since Damen offered to check the door?

I'm fine with abandoning the door and concentrating on the plug, I just want to make sure where we are.

well, with Damen having something related to the water door in mind, I assume you're still there.

But I need to know what it is he's doing.

Damen would go around to the bowed out door and knock on it.

Moved to the IC thread.

Ok, folks, the Holiday makes this a 5 day weekend, starting now. I'll update Monday, and deal with what I can over the next few days as it comes up.

it looks, like about 20 minutes left on the water walking, if I'm reading my notes properly.

So... use a patch, hit it with the decanter, or what?

OOC: part 2

Yes, and but without a bucket and brush, I'm not sure how Create Water would do it. The acid is on a wall.

Re: OOC: part 2

DM I have to ask if there is any value to trying to getting us to think up a creative solution for applying water to a wall? I mean truly.

Re: OOC: part 2

No. The fire hose feature of the decanter is the best method.

But Thalassa presented a non water method, as well, so I need to know which is being used.

The question isn't how to apply the water, it's are you using the water, or the other method?

Looks like it. :-(

Sorry -- I know I argued for a dungeon crawl because I thought it would be a fun change of pace, but like you said, it seems to have killed the game.

I can never seem to finish a dungeon. you folks are only about a third of the way. Almost out of the poison gas, though.

Re: OOC: part 2

That's the thing -- we don't have a lot of people who post at all anymore. Ahuatzi hasn't logged in for a month, and Marvek has logged in but hasn't posted for two months. So in practice we're down to three players.

I don't think that's enough to go on. To me, it often feels like I'm suggesting something, nobody really responds, and ultimately I just do what I suggested myself. That's fine for a while, because I know everyone is busy, but I don't want that to be the status quo for the rest of the game.

In hindsight, maybe a dungeon really isn't a good fit for a pbp game. There's all these little details to check out, which would take five minutes in a tabletop game, but when each of these details takes a day or more to explore, it just kills the momentum. (Or maybe I'm just looking for an explanation and have no idea what I'm talking about.)

Re: OOC: part 2

I always have bad luck in a dungeon. It just peters out like this has. Outdoors with the ability to drop an encounter when things get slow (in addition to whatever might have been plotted) tends to work better.

I think I'll stick to ships for a bit. With Spelljammer out, again, I can build small asteroid dungeons of less than a dozen rooms, if that, and not have to worry about dungeon inertia killings things.

Re: OOC: part 2

Yeah, I saw that you were running a Spelljammer game. I don't know much about Spelljammer, but it looks interesting. I hope it works out!

And if this is it for this game, thanks for running it! It was fun, even if we didn't get to the dinosaurs. :-)

Re: OOC: part 2

I don't generally approve of running more than one game at a time, as one or the other generally gets more attention which isn't fair to players in the other (and I really hope I avoided that here, but I doubt it) but it was Spelljammer.

Turns out I'm the only one in the last 4 months since it came out to even advertise the setting, which is odd.
