Re: OOC: part 2

Folks, it's been a couple weeks since most of you ahve posted. Are you still there?

Meanwhile, we seem to be stopped by a little water, and, while there is a solution, Thalassa isn't getting any response form you all, so...

I"d too in an encounter just to stir things up, but the way things are going, I'm afraid Thalassa would ahve to do the fight herself.

Re: OOC: part 2

I have posted but in the pursuit of clarity my desire to post something to the effect of 'keep moving' in 3 different ways every time we encounter something marginally untoward is nonexistent.

Re: OOC: part 2

In reply to Hedwig Bancroft (msg # 736):

Right now Thalassa has a question pending that no one has answered. And until she decides ow to proceed (which is what the question is asking) we're frozen in time.

To wit: Should she recast Water Walking or start swimming, or what?

This is why I avoid dungeons. Happens every time. I have no idea why.

OOC: part 2

OK, folks, to be sure you are aware of the ramifications before I update:

Thalassa's number of shape changes are severely limited. They refresh after a short rest, but that means an hour in the Haze doing nothing but sucking in the poison air. That means Thalassa only has one shape change left (she has use don already: Giant octopus to open the first door).

If Thalassa is traveling in animal for for the next hour or so, she can't speak. That means she can't post to the IC thread, and she can't lead the party, check doors, etc., someone else will have to.

So...are we still excluding here from the next Water Walk? If so, is she still taking a small bird shape to fly about in?  Also, if so, who's going to be taking the lead of the humanoid part of the party?

OOC: part 2

Right now my plan is to turn into a bird, fly to the other side of the water room, and then change back as soon as everyone is safely on the other side.

I don't know if that's a good plan. But I figure that at least my animal shapes are usually not the only solution to a problem. On the other hand, if we get to a point where we need to move away some mud or take something from a fountain and we're all affected by Water Walk, then we're definitely stuck for an hour. (Or someone has to cast Dispel Magic.)

Of course, now that I think about it, another option would be for someone to carry Thalassa across the water. :-) Then she wouldn't have to change shape, and we'd still have someone without Water Walk if it becomes relevant.

Ahuatzi could carry Thalassa across, I'm sure he's strong enough.

Re: OOC: part 2

Want to update but not firing on all cylinders. We have turned back from the door bowed by water pressure and returned to the mud room. There are only two doors: the one we initially entered through and the one we exited out of?

Re: OOC: part 2

In reply to Hedwig Bancroft (msg # 745):

Actually, no. You stopped at the water room. The Water Walk faded, and there was quite a bit of hesitation. New Water Walk, you took he lead, and...examined around the door without going through the Water Room. I'm not entirely sure why.

That is where we are now. Still a few away from the Mud Room

Only two doors in the Water Room, however. The one you are at and the one you need to got through.

Mud Room has 4, and one of them you haven't done, yet, because of the WaterWalk and the mud blocking it...which is why Thalassa is NOT covered by Water Walk, this time.

Shape Water could have worked.....

Moved by DM from IC, as it was an OOC Thought bubble, not IC at all.

Re: OOC: part 2

In reply to Damen Iourdanos (msg # 748):

Probably not. What they describe as a solution would take the geyser effect from a decanter of endless water.

I'm giving Marvek overnight to respond, then, if necessary, I'll NPC him. He hasn't checked in for 2 weeks, so we may have lost him.

This dungeon seems to be killing things. Hopefully we can get something going after this door. I'll read ahead.

Re: OOC: part 2

This may sound silly, but i'm waiting for omeone to tell me they are looking in.

Thalassa, specifically as the rest of you are strung out up the stairs and out of line of sight of most of the room.

Now, I COULD just assume you look in...but what if the room has a Medusa in it?

Seriously, such things are no win for a DM: If I wait, I'm being silly. Of course you look in. If I don't and some visually delivered bad thing is in there, I'm the bad guy because you never said you wee going to look.

Besides, it's saturday, we have time

Thalassa has offered two options: She can go instead, or you folks can Dispel the WaterWalk spell.  Assuming someone has Dispel prepped, of course.

Or, can the caster just dispel it?  Plus, by the new rules, either if us should be able to recast it with an available spell slot.
