Changes - Up for Discussion
FORM LETTERS
There have been some complaints about the messages sent to users regarding portrait rejections. To cut down on that, I'm going to move to a 'form email' to send out in response to submissions.
This is what I've come up with so far (items in green italics are commentary only):
For acceptances -
Thank you for your recent submission(s).
Your portrait(s) has/have been added to the gallery. You can find (it/them):
For rejections (partial or total)-
We were unable to accept the other submission(s) due to:
We were unable to accept your submission(s) due to:
Reasons
-Image clarity when formatted to the proper pixels and/or file size.
I think we'll create a thread on this board to link to that includes tips - pencil drawings/watercolors/other light mediums do not resize well, the larger the submission, the better chance we have of 'tweaking' it to an acceptible level of quality, etc.
-There is a portrait already in the gallery that is considered a duplicate or reasonably similar to your submission.
Another item in the thread that seeks to explain the difference between portraits of the same actor in radically different character roles (ie, Kiefer Southerland in Three Musketeer garb vs. Kiefer Southerland in Young Guns with hat & bandanna vs. random publicity still where the difference is minimal (expression, hair color, hair length, etc.)
-Your submissons exceed the maximum allowed per portrait update cycle (currently 3). You may re-submit those not used if you choose.
I'm wrestling with this one - right now my current inclination is that we'll choose the best three (or 2 if the maximum number changes).
Commentary is welcome.
