Seeing the sights in Huntsville

Using the computer terminal at the library was a simple process for Jen, all it took was to get her hands on the machine and mental power then took over.  Cooing softly as she coaxes the information from it like a friend.  With a list of places to go and a general map of locations printed she was soon back and spread it out for people to see.

Hotel 9 or Swamper Paradise I think for clean up first.  Then either Golden Age or Combat Craft for the mountaineer to go in for repairs.  Armaments next to get armour sorted.  After that we see where we are with funds, check over the gear we have that might be tradable.  How does that sound to people?

Looking about the group with a bright smile.

"Combat Craft's local, so they might ask less questions. Annnnd, Hotel Nine seems fine to me, can't be any worse than barracks." Killian states without real heat or conviction, more or less prepared to go along to get along, under the circumstances - not least because he's still dealing with more than a little culture shock, what with one thing and another.

After waiting until the information to be recovered Theresa doesn't take long in assessing it before she finds the next relevant steps for herself to take.
”I have little or know interest in or way to help in the technology side of things so I will be making a trip to Huntsville Wizardry, and very likely checking Fielding's Shop to see if I can find someone who can buy fix or customize some of the things we found, we probably don't want to all go but if someone else has business there two or at most three would not likely be a problem.”

I and my armor could use a good hosing out, Nutball says.  I wonder if they have some of those armored clothes, like I saw in Kingsdale once.  That might be good to wear under other armor.
He looks at Killian.  You know, extra protection.

"Triax made stuff like that, I remember." Killian agrees, glancing at Nutball as the man remarks on the stuff, "Ridiculously expensive for what you got, but subtle... Annnd..." here, he frowns, thinking "Bandito Arms, too. The Black Market folks. They made a walking around coat. Slightly heavier but a shit-load stronger and cheaper.."

Douglas looks over the map closely, almost studying it.  He listens closely as the others speak in turns.  Finally, he chimes in.  "I do like the idea of washing up first.  For that, Carlson's and Nine both sound fine to me.  Maybe the Paradise place if we have cash to spare.  Golden Age would likely have the advantage of a one stop shop, able to fix up our ride and armor, as well as re-charge and re-arm.  If that don't suite your fancy, and it's fine by me if it don't, then we'll need to visit multiple shops.  Combat Craft, Armaments, & Munitions, to take care of the Mountaineer, armor, and ammo, respectively.
He pauses a moment, then looks at Theresa.  "I doubt I need anything from those places, but I sure wouldn't mind tagging along if you want some company.  My whole family is silly with mages and psychics."
Looking at Jennifer, he asks a final question. "Any chance we could each get a copy of this map?  I fer one would appreciate having it on hand."

Douglas blinks, looking very much like he has come to a big realization, maybe even a revelation.  "Well, shucks!  Maybe I should get me one of those!  I 'spose it would be mighty handy to have around, wouldn't it?"  he responds, his big grin looking slightly sheepish.

Re: Seeing the sights in Huntsville

The Mountaineer made its way along the avenue. People stared at the state of the big vehicle. Some laughed. Some gave them an affirming nod or a thumbs up. Others simply gawked. It no time they were passing the Hotel 9 on their way to Carlson's Rest.

The Hotel 9 wasn't too busy. The structure was a big squared off U shape with three levels. The place resembled an old fashioned roadside hotel with plane construction and little embellishment. The whole property was surrounded by a twelve foot tall solid wall topped with barbed wire. It was a fort, everything was made from fiber reinforced ultra-crete concrete used in bunkers and vaults. The ground floor was a single door marked 'office' and then there were 20 other doors numbered 1 through 20. The second level held fifteen rooms numbered 21 through 35. While the top floor only had twelve rooms numbered 36 through 47. Simple

The area in the U was the motorpool and it sported rental tools, lifts, and plenty of parking. A pair of guards walked the premises in Plastic Man armor and carrying NG 57 Ion guns. Grenades hung from their bandoliers. It wasn't much, but it made the right statement about being in the wrong place.

They drove on, passing a pair of horse mounted cyber knights that seemed to be locked in a mental dialogue. One was human, as would be expected, but the other was a helmeted DB with a brutish build and deep green skin.

Soon they could see the Carlson's Rest ahead. It was a tall, multistory log structure. It looked as much like an old fashioned hunting lodge as possible. There was a large porch that bordered a deep parking area obviously designed for large hunting vehicles or cargo trucks. A sign over the door was lit up and said in big neon letters 'NO VACANCY'. The parking area was half full with trucks, buggies, and a few trailers and people were coming and going busily. Stacks of hides, cases of ordnance, coolers of meat and organs, barrels of water and fuel, and portable lockers holding weapons for hunting dinosaurs crowded the porch. Evidently a hunting company was in town.

Re: Seeing the sights in Huntsville

With the slightly careful dignity of someone who doesn't want to be seen sticking his head out of the window because of the inevitable jokes, Killian sits by the door and looks out over the street, his ears perking a little as he spies the precautions around Hotel 9, growling in soft approval "Alright, it's not a fortress but I like it." and then glancing at Carlsons with a snort, "Which looks to make the decision for us. Let's get moving, the sooner we're clean the happier I'll be. I just hope they have a decent hair dryer."

Nutball shrugs.  The bunker motel seems fine to me, he says.  It's just a question of how expensive it will be for all if us.  Considering the competition is already busy and full.

Hand comps aren't always easy to keep in the wilds, and not to useful if your not studying something or have some good saved shows and movies.  But I guess they are friendly to have about. Jen commented in reply to Douglas.

As the trip turned into a 'U' turn Jen shrugs.

I would say it will be cheaper than trying one of the more expensive places where you might have to pay for a couple of days to stay.  We just want that clean up.  Finding lodgings comes later.  It will be good to get the grime off and feel fresh.

Seeing the sights in Huntsville

Turning around in the big vehicle drew more stares. It took up one lane and part of another on the old blacktop that was one four main roads in the town. As they neared the Hotel 9 a billboard lit up advertising 'Ever had an interest in the age old ways of magic? Ever wanted to fight the good fight and advance the cause of good and justice in the world? Do you have a desire to see the evil fascists of the Coalition face their crimes? Rush to your Federation recruiting office. You could be the next hero of the Federation in the fight to expand freedom and happiness in North America'.

The Hotel 9 parking lot guards came over to open the gate and shouted up to the vehicle, "You'll have to parking over there in the temporary parking until you have your room and have paid for motorpool privileges."

An attendant came walking out of the door marked 'OFFICE' and made her way towards the Mountaineer. The attendant was a tall, lean woman. She wore a babydoll style dress of some sort of dark material that shimmered in the sunlight and a pair of old fashioned Navy 'chukka' boots. Tattoos in eldritch patterns wrapped her body. That they seemed to have deeply red luminescence was the least quality noticeable about the young woman. She had long pointed ears, her skin was a shade of blue-green none of them had ever seen before, and her eyes glowed softly as if there were tiny blue bulbs inside her skull.

"Hello, I'm Haneato Altropedosia. The people here call me Neato Torpedo." She smiled in truly disarming manner. "As you can see, I'm not from around here. Don't let that fool you, though, if you ignore your bill I will hunt you down and take ever dollar out of your ass. Now, what services can the Hotel 9 provide for you?"

The strange woman walked around the Mountaineer making a tisking noise. She stopped in front of the vehicle again and began typing into her hand computer.

"Six rooms, basic needs for hygiene and two meals everyday, motorpool access and tool rental everyday." She typed in a few other things and then looked back up to the vehicle. "That'll sixty FedMag Dollars or seventy credits, Coalition or Worth, per day. I'll need six hundred, or seven hundred, as a deposit with the vehicle as collateral and you have to pay up your current bill weekly. No whore in the gates after midnight, no explosive traps on premises, and no business on Hotel 9 grounds. Any questions?"

As the Mountaineer came into view of the Carlson's Rest, Douglas gave an approving whistle, quickly followed by another that sounded downright disappointed, as he saw the 'NO VACANCY' sign.  He silently nodded agreement with the others.
As the blue-green lady came walking towards them, his eyebrows shot up, as his signature smile seemed to faltered for a moment.  He was able to recover his friendly expression before she introduced herself.  He listened as she laid out the rules.  At Hawkins prompt, he tipped his hat & spoke up.  "Any rules against pets, like dogs?  She's well trained, if that matters."  He gave Princess a scratch behind the ear as he asked, who responded with a friendly bark of her own.

Snorting at the billboard, Killian more or less sticks to the middle of the group rather than draw too much attention or too many questions to himself, though he does give their hostess a slightly uneasy look as she's laying out her spiel - not that it generates an actual comment from him, since he'd begun to work out that not every DBee needed shooting well before he became one himself and the fact that obviously magical and uncanny individuals still put the hairs on the back of his neck up is Doc Bradford's fault, not hers.

 And therefore, "No questions."

No real questions other than what sort of meals they are, I don't do good with the veggies is all.  Better I know now so I can plan on getting stuff in if needed is all.  Otherwise I think that all sounds fine.
