Its been about a year since the group ventured into town upon a small airship to start their lives over, a new start. Afterwards they parted ways, bonding in time. The elf Xander got a job within the main library. He's been seen with another elf-a female one. Perhaps his mentor? A old friend? Maybe a lover? Its hard to tell. Brock got a job at the gear shop, the gnome allowing him to stay in the second floor with food and drink provided in exchange for watching the shop and keeping it safe. Not a bad job for the rogue and little has happened. Its pretty boring but safe. Vermina found a sewer area to sleep. Despite being a sewer, its rather quaint despite the water coming down washing some of her belongings away. She isn't there often but it seems safe. And Bucko lives within the slums in a small one room area. Its a shack, but theres others as well making it so its hard to really find it. A good sign for the goblin trying to lay low. Often he is fishing but find a good spot is tough so he slips into the main threshold at night to fish but he hasn't had much luck but makes enough to live off of being in a flying city or rather floating. Its probably man-made, the pond uses probably syphoned from rain. He does at times find frogs, good food for him and amazing to sell to passerbyes. The four of them at times conversed but they are from so many different worlds, keeping them apart.

It is odd how all of them are gathered together but not sure of it. Ironically. Perhaps pressed together by some unknown force. But they are close yet far away. Its odd.

Darkness begins to form and rain start to come. Bucko is sitting outside near his makeshift fish stand nearbye the tavern, trying to sell his wares but few pay him any attention. He sighs as a white cat slips up and lands in front of a fish. It licks its lips. Oddly, its white and has blue eyes. Bucko oddly recognizes the cat as a dark form seems to appear nearbye. Garbed in a dark blue cloak with a white trim, it looks down at the goblin "Its been some time, Bucko." It takes off the hood revealing a old friend-Xander. He kneels down to the goblin and watches him for a moment. No emotion across his ageless face. The goblins gun rests under the fish stand as well. Well he always has to be prepared but not for Xander. He's the goblins friend despite the elves and goblins don't normally get along but for the elf he made a exception. He pulls out some chocolate, something Bucko hasn't seen and he offers it to the goblin "I need your help." He's got several scrolls, staff and everything he needs. Man on a mission.

THE TAVERN

Within the confines of the tavern, there's several people lining the walls. A barkeep stands across from the door leading out. Burly human wipes off the countertop as several waitresses go to each table. They wipe down some of them, ask for orders at times. A bard sits in the corner providing some music. Vermina sits alone, cards out in front of her. A young woman sits across from her, wanting to have her fortune read. She looks like a human, watching the ratling.

THE GEAR SHOP

Coming down the stairs is Brokk. The gnome looks up from his workshop, something drapped in a small wheelbarrow hovering there. Brokk has seen it before but its usually uncovered. He leans back in his swivel chair and takes off his goggles "Eh? Brokk! Got somethin' for someone. Can you take to the tavern? Yah can have the night off as well. What do you say? Drinks and food are on me. Yah done a good job so its deserved. Apparently its for a goblin? All paid for but I'm rather busy. Yah been here for some time, think its time fer you to get it off. Got a letter fer it. No name, just want it delivered. Seems like it was paid for from the library. The tavern keeper knows me so its all good. Whatcha say?"

 Vermina spouts some generic fortune nonsense. It is more than likely the woman won't believe any of it, but who knows. The ratling is still new at pulling this hustle. Even if the woman is a skeptic, She still might be convinced to purchase a charm or something.

15:54, Today: Vermina Longtail rolled 9 using 1d20+1.  Bluff.

"What's going on boss?" Brokk answers the Gnome as he descends the stairs to the main shop area.  "Free meal and a night off?  Hell yeah, I'll take that!  So just deliver the wheelbarrow to a Goblin?  That doesn't seem to hard.  Let me get my stuff and I'll get to it."

Brokk will grab his things and take off to the tavern for a well deserved meal and some down time.

Bucko hands a fish over to the cat while smiling broadly at the elf...."Greetings graceful tree dancer....You wish to buy all my fish?."

Bucko starts and then laughs....

He stands up and moves close to the elf, before whispering "Xander, What you has need of hot lead for now?"

Bucko enjoys fishing and it is a pleasant past time for him as a man, weird when did he start thinking of himself in that term...a man with a musket needs to take his time and sometimes sit...plus from a distance a pole in the hands of a fisherman looks innocent enough..and if he times the rise and fall of the water, he can make a shot even in those instances....or the wind blowing a limb.

NEAR THE TAVERN
Its raining out and nightime as the rain pours down upon them....

The elf watches this strange goblin and is whispered to. "I'm not a treedancer, Bucko.  And unfortunatly I am here for fish..." Xander nods his head "Someone  I know went missing. After she left, I was able to find out from her notes about a possible plague brewing and some people have turned up dead. But not where she may be. I am rather concerned of her safety. It isn't like her to dissapear without a word." He seems distraught an concerned.

As the elf talks, the rogue starts to come down the lane with a floating wheelbarrow and what lies inside is covered up. There's a few people on the lane but no one pays him any attention as he looks like someone with a package dropping it off. Brokk sees the goblin by his stand and the elf with its back to him talking to Bucko. His cat takes the fish and starts to munch on it looking like a kid with a treat. Chomp chomp chomp.

A young woman comes out and she grabs her cloak and darts off seeming to be in a good mood.

THE TAVERN
"You think I will find the one? When? Where? Who?" The woman seem to be thrilled beliving Vermina. She does buy a charm and looks into her coin pouch. She fiddles with it and drops 5 silver for it "Sorry I'm just excited. Thank you!" She smiles and runs off and out the door. The keep watches her leave and shakes his head. But everyone is in it for money. And he oddly has a charm. The waitresses are busy, the bard continues to play and it seems like the night is going well.

Brokk spots a qoblin in the street and he approaches talking to and person.  "Well, well, well!  It's been a while hasn't it Bucko?  I'm making a delivery to the tavern.  Have you seen any other Goblins around?"

 Vermina happily took the silver pieces, pockets most of them before putting her cards away, then got up to approach the bar. The little rat girl struggled to get the Bartender's attention. Finally, She was able to present a Silver to the Bartender and speak.

"Excuse me sir, may I have some food, please?"

Bucko notes the seriousness in Xanders tone....
"You want help to find her then?  Can you say what she looks like or do you have something better for me to start looking.  I will not make too many waves about it."   Not sure what the local equivalent of a photo is.....


At the mention of notes, and papers Bucko has a memory of a time in a wharehouse some time ago....

"Do you have her notes or copies you can share....Might help me track her down....."


Bucko perks up as the half orc appears...
"Brokk...yes been months I think did you want a few fish for your dinner?"

Bucko is set to string up some fish and wrap them in paper for the half-orc...
He is intentionally not introducing the elf and half orc..

Grokk looks at the fish being bundled up by the Goblin.  "As long as it's fresh Bucko, I wouldn't mind a fresh fish dinner.  When I get done with mybusiness from the Gnome, I'll see if they can cook it.  How have you been?"  He looks towards the Elf and gives him a nod without saying anything.

Brokk reiterates, "Have you seen any other Goblins besides yourself?"

NEAR THE TAVERN

"Its for Bucko. Bought by the library." The man stands up, water pouring down for above and he turns and looks at Brokk "You forgot me alright I see?" His blue eyes watches the half-orc as his cat leaps up onto his shoulder and stares at him as well. His eyes look down to the goblin and he shows the picture to the half-orc and goblin "There was no definate evidence, Bucko. So I do not have it written down. Do you know how to read? Not to be rude."

"What do yah want to drink? I got stew an' bread. Beef stew. Yah look like you need it." The innkeeper looks at the silver and slides it back to you and noticing her torn clothing.

Brokk again looks at the Elf, "Xander, right?  Sorry, it's been awhile.  So, I'm delivering this to Bucko?  Bucko, this would appear to be yours then." Brokk points towards the floating wheelbarrow.

Bucko shakes his head no
“I have not seen very many goblins at all, I think they do not like it much in the wide open spaces..”


Bucko considers the thing being delivered….
“Too small to be a boat… who sends it?”


“Hard to keep any powder at all around goblins they can’t keep their hands off the stuff….”

“The gnome at the shop said it was paid for by the library.  Can we’re get out of the rain and get some grub and ale,” Brook ask’s getting wetter by the minute.

 "The Beef Stew would be fine, thank you."

 Vermina has been doing alright, but still was hitting harder times. This payday was a godsend and Actually being able to eat a warm meal today was going to be fantastic.

The wet mage thinks he's been completely ignored by Bucko as he did say who bought him what is within the floating wheelbarrow and he nods to Brokk then looks at Bucko "Again yes it was paid for by the library that I am a member of for Bucko. Do you understand?" Seems time has done something to the goblin. He puts a hand over covered something and pulls it to the side revealing...

The waitress bring out after a few minutes some beef stew and water for Vermina. The keep nods his head and goes back to work "No charge. Enjoy." Seems like a good fellow, helping out whomever needs it. The bard keeps playing, people are conversing.

Bucko has never understood the races compunction against being rained on other than the challenge of  keeping the powder dry.....

Bucko dumps the remaining fish into his crate under the table...which he has scrawled the word "B A I T" on the side of.....apparently his letters are improving....


He leads the new mount with him as well,

as the group heads indoors....

"Some boys will steal half of my bait, I pretend to care and they pretend to be afraid....."

 Vermina was a bit surprised at the free meal, but was not about to complain. She got to eating, but also took a quick assessment of her environment.

Brokk shakes his head, "Good!  My task is completed!  Now, it's time to relax."  He takes the fish from Bucko and heads inside the tavern.

Walking into the tavern is the goblin, half-orc and elf. They haven't been seen together in months. Upon seeing the witch, Xander smiles. He goes up to Vermina and gives her a hug. His face looks like he's a bit tired and the three of them are covered in rain "Vermina..." The elf sits across from her and motions for Bucko and Brokk to sit, the construct given to the goblin sits down next to him "I need your help. Bucko agreed as well. And I need your help as well, Brokk." He pulls out a picture and places it in front of the ratling. He lets her know she is missing and lets the half-orc and ratling know she was concerned about her well being and about a plague he knows nothing about and that he doesn't know where she is and that its not like her to let him know. He tells her she was a libarian as well and that some people turned up dead ranging from nobles to regular people. The elf places his hands down in front of her, waiting for them to respond. Xander's cat sits upon his shoulder and seems to mimic him, both of their blue eyes seem to shine slightly and its white coat.

Two waitresses walk over, asking if they need anything. The tavern keeper watches them for a moment, a odd variety gathered together. He then goes back to his nightly duties. The bard keeps playing a tune, others seem to converse.

Bucko takes in the picture as it is laid on the table.....

Bucko starts talking and just as suddenly stammers himself to a halt...

"Pretty precious, too much to be in bad places where bad things......"

He recovers...
"Bet she found some super interesting runes carved under the city somewhere an is just not done looking yet....."

He grabs his hot drink and sips on it before he says something else stupid.....

"Librarians some got skills to get themselves out of trouble, is she an investigator or got some tricks and wiles that can get he out of trouble?  If so we might want to bring a weapon for her when we finds her..."

Bucko casts his fish onto the iron grate over the fire....

The elf watches the goblin start to cook. He goes to say something."Under the city? We're way up from the ground. Thousands of feet or more..." He shakes his head as the goblin just spits out something about librarians yet he is one. Who'd be the one to ask? A librarian "You believe librarians are the best right, Bucko? You are talking to one. I just like simple things like painting. Reading and writing. Not all librarians are the same, Bucko. She's a good..." Xander puts his hands together "A good friend. If something happened to her, it must be something bad. Selena is her name. Quiet, always polite. Never harmed anyone. I hope nothing happened to her."

Brokk sighs.  "I usually don't get much a call for help, for too much these days.  Especially from a Librarian, even more so, from an Elf!  I'll clear it with the Gnome where I work.  He seems to have some respect for you Librarians so it might be an easy sell.  Plus, it gets me out of that shop for a little but.  So yeah, I'll help you find your 'friend'."

The keep stops as Bucko throws it into the fire and starts to cook. He doesn't seem happy and yells out "Hey! Yah trying to take my customers?" The bard stops as he hears the tavern owner yell and all the other customers seems surprised. Trying to hold back, the keep grumbles something under his breath "I'll let it slide and stop taking drinks!" He noticed the goblin grabbing a drink from another table. He walks over and takes Bucko's drink and bring it back to the bar, empting it out.

The two waitresses look surprised as the goblin throws it into the fire on the grate. They stand there and wait for orders from the elf, ratling, half-orc and goblin. Noticing Vermina eating and drinking, they keep waiting on Xander, Brokk and Bucko and one of them speaks out quietly "Excuse me. Drinks? Food? Wait. No just drinks?" The keep throws a towel over its shoulder "Three ales?"

The elf looks at the keep and then to the waitresses "Two ales. Cider please for me." He then looks at Brokk and nods "I'm your friend, Brokk. Not a elf. Or a librarian. Your friend. And thank you, its appreciated. I know each of you are busy and I don't want to intervene, but I trust all of you and I wouldn't have asked but its important to me. And I'd do it for you as well." He takes the picture, pocketing it.

Nodding their heads, one of them goes behind the bar and starts to get the three drinks. The other wanders off, going table to table and everyone goes about getting the food and drinks. The bard starts to play again as the barkeep nods his head.

With the undue attention of the owner, Bucko promptly stacks 4 silver coins on the table and waves to the barmaid....

"What you says Xander?  I just asked if she had some good skills o gettin by one her own, I mets the librabrians, and you helps me know letters, so I understand very little, but hopes she is maybe mage or wizard or is ok and does well enough for us to finds her, and brings her home.   Not say anything bout all librarians....

Once the barmaid arrives....
"2 silvers for cooking fire, and 2 silvers for drinks?"

"Yes we are Xander.  Not many people like me can claim a friend like you.  Do you have any idea why she might've left?" Brokk asks waiting for his ale and food.

 Vermina looked up to see some people She recognized. Either they say by her or the little rat girl in ratty old clothes took what was left of her stew and came to join them. A soft smile rose on her face for the first time in quite a long time.

"I know you... It's been a long time"

Upon seeing the goblin with the money, one takes the coins and nods. She gives the barkeep the money and he grumbles and nods as well.

Once the waitress comes over with the two ales and cider, it then leaves. Xander sips his drink and stares at it it as Vermina speaks up. He smiles "Will you help?" His eyes dart back to Bucko trying to understand him and he gets a nod "Not sure but she loves knowledge. She could find it in the libary. But she chose to go look elsewhere. It makes little sense." Xander puts his hands on his drink "Maybe the slums?"

Brokk nods to the ratgirl, "Hello Vermina!  Might as well join us in a meal while we discuss business."

Bucko perfectly times the flipping of his fish on the grate, and effortlessly flips it, the skin and scales of the fish protect it from the heat.....


"Bucko will help look for girl.  Hope she is ok."

Once again Bucko clams himself up and stops talking as suddenly as he started.....

"Do we want to ask around and see who maybe has seen her on the day she was last seen going?"

 Vermina continued eating, glad to be around "Friends" again. She at least knew them and was more than happy to try to get closer. She had heard of this discussion about the missing girl, but didn't really have anything to contribute, so She jut kept eating and listening for now. She would be happy to help her acquaintances as best as She could. She almost wished her fortune-telling was real so She could divine where this girl was.

"Maybe a good start Bucko.  Have you checked into her room to see if anything was missing or why she left?  Do you know if she was researching anything for herself or someone else?" Brokk asks Xander.

Bucko satisfied his fish has cooked through brings it onto a platter and splits it open, carefully removing the spine and thin ribs.....

"Have some!  Yes have some.  Bucko likes fish to not be raw and wriggling."

He carefully removes what is obviously the fish eggs and eats those as well....

In true goblin fashion he ends by crunching on the tail fin....

"Xander has her notes and papers knows what she say she was looking into, might tell us lots if some reads her secrets in her diary?"

Taking a deep breath, Xander looks at Bucko "You make it sound like I know where she is, what she is doing and why. I don't. Her notes that I do not have are in her room. There is no rhyme or reason and doesn't say where she is. Just random notes. With enough time I might be able to piece together something but there is no location. I do not know where she is." He tries to make it known to the goblin but its a lot of words for Bucko to swallow. He ponders something and he looks at his friends "Always wanted to find something other then the library for knowledge. Some place for knowledge to dwell. Maybe a seer? I could ask at the library. Maybe the slums. I don't know. We should head to the gear shop as well. Maybe we can get some help there. Ideas?" He seems saddened.

Bucko holds up one finger...

"We ask around and canvas the whole city individually or groups and see if anyone says they sees her and when,make notes....or try to make notes."


Bucko holds up a second finger...
"She tracks plague maybe, so we find patients who dies and maybe they all dies in some place that narrows where we look.  The part of town where mystery is."

Bucko holds up a third finger....
"Bucko out of ideas......"
He grabs another pieces of fish....

Bucko looks at Xander...
he is  confused but not saying he will puzzle it out later on....

"There is no plague I know of. Yet where did you hear of it? It a longshot but if she is trying to find this plague, going to the slums is a idea. Not sure why she would go alone, could be dangerous. So much to do...so much..." Xander looks at his mug, and sips it quietly "I am sorry if I berated you, Bucko. It was not my intent. Forgive me alright?" His eyes go to the goblin and then to the half-orc and ratfolk.

A high pitched whine feels the dark raining night outside. With Brokk living in the gear shop it sounds familiar. Almost saw-like.

As the group discusses where and who to possibly talk to, the door is slammed open and a dwarf falls into the room. His chest is barely moving, blood coming down the side of his face. He coughs and looks down, pulling his hand away from it. One large gash across his chest. More blood comes into his mouth and his head falls. The dwarf's eyes stare at the group but he is not moving and they seem to glaze over.

Thinking that the Dwarf has already expired, Brokk rushes over to the door where he entered and looks outside to see what he can see.

Bucko is thinking of his answer when the problem starts, he had just closed his eyes to think when he heard a noise, he hoped up and took a step and realized his musket was still where he had left it.......

He moves to both retrieve and load it.

Brokk looks surpised and with his back to the wall by the door, he tells them what he sees and lets the group know one of their sawblades was covered in blood-most likely from the dead dwarf! And theres two of them about 30' away in the dark, rainy night.

 Vermina draws a card and mutters to it then holds it out. The card glows before a Giant Spider appears before the Rat girl.

Vermina cast "Summon Monster II"

Vermina casts her spell conjuring a giant spider.

Brokk draws his kurki and glances out.

Xander looks out, eyes narrowed and he decides to cast a spell upon Brokk, resting a hand over his shoulder and then the half-orc dissapears! "Move quick and move fast. They will not see you."

Bucko grabs his gun, loads it and (assuming he does) readies himself in the window, knocking it open providing himself cover!

Both constructs stand there about 30', and one of them starts up his sawblade. The other gets to the doorway, sawblade engaged and he doesn't see anyone within range not aware of Brock being invisible. Its the whole intimidating thing.

Taking a deep breath, he casts a spell as two small bolts of energy fly out and connect with the construct! "Construct! Its immune to all mind issues! And disease, poison, sleep....and electricity is the key!" Looks like being knowledgeable is a good thing! He can keep going but he's only got 6 seconds! The elf backs away 20'.

The half-orc re-appears and goes to sink his blade into the construct! But he misses his mark!

Everyone within the tavern is taking cover, throwing up their tables in defense. The barkeep pulls out a club "What in blazes!" He remains behind the bar. Its a good thing that most of the tables are about 15' from the main door.

Vermina ordered her summoned Spider to shoot a web at the large machine and it does so.

 Vermina then drew and threw a card at the machine, the card returning to her hand unharmed afterwards.

 Vermina knew the spider would vanish soon, but ordered it to get one last action in before it was done. The Ratling then drew and threw another card, returning like before.

(ROUND 2) The goblin fires the gun at the construct! He then reloads it!

The construct breaks free from the entanglement!

The other construct moves through the rain and darkness and stops at a window.

Brokk can get Sneak Attack now (Flanking spider)

Vermina's summoned Spider couldn't stay any longer and vanished where it came from. She Threw another card, this time missing by a mile.

The ratling decides to throw her card but it only gets about 5' and returns to her hand.

Slash goes Brokk's blade, hitting the construct again!

The staff returns to Xander and he throws it again! It sinks into the construct, and the construct seems to be badly damaged!

The goblin fires and the charge doesn't work. He is able to get it to not be stuck but its empty.

The construct uses its sawblade against Brokk! It sinks into the half-orc's chest!

Brokk's attack hit him in the leg!

The mage throws the quarterstaff out and attempts to smack it! It connects!

It turns towards the rogue and goes to slice him up with its sawblade but it hits the side of the window and slices part of the wall slightly!

The tavern owner starts to push people out the back of the inn, holding his club. He seems angry at all of this! His pub! Son of a....

 Vermina was glad to have ruined the one killer and tried to move into position and when She got into a good position, She tried to draw and throw a card at the other machine.

 After making sure Brokk will live, Vermina attempted to return to helping defeat these metal horrors. She had a split focus, which caused her to miss with a card and almost stumble over herself, but not do so.

Brokk's eyes fly open as if he had awakened from a bad dream with a saw blade only, it wasn't a dream!  Stabilized, he barely makes it to his feet and moves away from the thing that literally cut him down.  As he turns, "I'm hit bad with none of my healing on me.  I'm headed out the back!"

Buckos reflexes tell him to reload and drop a shell into this construct before it cuts him in twain....

He pokes  the barrel into the machine and pulls the trigger....

Bucko's shot hits it right in the...well yeah. It starts to fall down at the goblin! Xander watches the construct start to fall. Brokk starts to head out as the keeper shows him the backdoor where several other people are slamming into eachother and some get out as the rain starts to pour on this dismal night!

The construct begins to fall and Bucko dodges out of the way as quickly as he can...

Bucko is dodging and trying to reload at the same time, knowing he does not want to let another one that close again....


"I claim parts!"

It slams into the ground just as the nimble Bucko just dodges it. The keeper watches what is going on "What in bloody hell is going on here?" He demands as everyone in the room is finally outside. Brokk doesn't have to be but can. The entire room is empty besides the current group.

 Now that the threat seems to be neutralized, Vermina joins Buck in actually looking at these machines.

 "What are these things? Who built them and where did they come from?  Why would they just show up and try to kill everybody?"

Xander pulls the keeper aside. He pulls out the picture. They seem to argue a bit and the mage walks away. He kneels down and checks on the dead dwarf, and slowly rises up "Another librarian. This doesn't make sense. Unarmed. Nothing on him. It just doesn't make sense. We should bring him back to the library." He glances at Vermina and Bucko. The gunslinger is probably checking out the gear and whatnot of the constructs. The half-orc is nowhere to be seen, probably outside.

"We should head to the library and the gear shop. I can take a look..." Xander kneels down and starts to check it out "The sawblade could be used. I don't have anything to use. Perhaps the gnome can help us out? I've seen things like this before but still not sure of why it came here. Maybe someone was in control of it? From what I recall they don't normally harm anyone. Used for checking out a area. Clearing it out but not sure why they attacked." Xander looks torn.

The keep mutters something under his breath "Fine fine. Librarians." He rubs his chin "Librarians that don't know a damn thing? Priceless. Yah better leave. Like now. And yah best be careful. Slums can be bad lately. That plague. Somethin' bout the docks..."

Xander's attention goes back to the keep "Plague?"

The keep spits out "Yah that there plague. Never bloody saw someon' with it. But its bad. All this crap..." Mutter mutter "Never saw anyone lookin' like that. But definatly pretty. I wouldn't mind..."

And the look given to the keep is bad. Xander stares at him. But the keep bites his lip "I say could be in the junk area. Now yah going to leave? Gonna take some time to get this place clean. Bloody son of a..."

Xander looks at the group "We got the wheelbarrow from the gear shop. Maybe take them there? And..." He turns to the keep "The library can pay for anything lost."

The keep grumbles and nods "Elves..." He spits out.

The elf ponders something. Constructs? Plague? Slums? His friend is missing? And now a dead librarian. Nothing makes sense...

Bucko starts to gather the mechanical items and see if they can be taken to the gnome..
“We take to gnome, he buys and tells us more maybe he knows these ones..”

Brokk walks back into the tavern and sees the others looking over the constructs.  "Hey, I saw someone on the roof watching what was going on.  It took off.  I'd like to get a look up there if my chest wasn't so cut up.  Can one of you help?  I don't have my potions with me but, that's going to change."

The mage gives the gunslinger a odd look "Yes. I am a librarian, Bucko. And I doubt he will buy them. We should get information." Xander kneels down "Do you understand?" Its like talking to a child. With a big gun. He looks over at Brokk "No I don't have anything to heal you. Vermina? Got anything?" And now the rogue saw something.

"Of course, Hold still for a moment, Mister Brokk..."

 Vermina muttered something, it was magic, but whatever this was it was different than her normal speaking with cards that She usually does.

I have tried to explain it to you and tell you I am a librarian several times but its like telling a kid what he should know and then he forgets several seconds later." Brokk will look for an easy way up onto the roof where he saw the figure.

"Yes lots of roof ways, I stay on roof over my stand...now with construct might have to get a new live place."

Bucko moves into position to cover anyone who is climbing up to the roof....

With the two constructs load up, the floating wheelbarrow is taking on a lot of extra weight. When not moving, it lowers to the ground. Rain comes pouring down upon the heads of the group as they try to check out the upper soaked floors of the building. They do see a fire escape up the side of the building. Also there seems to be no one on the road. Not a single soul. Its quiet, probably around 8 pm. Maybe everyone is in for the night save some guards and night workers. It is normal but just feels...off.

Bucko's ears shift around a little and his head swivels around, then he sniffs to cool wet night air....

"Bucko not like this not one little bit...."

Brokk walks around the top of the roof where he saw 'something' up there as he ran out of the inn after being attacked.  He looks out over the immediate area and puts his hands on his hips as he takes in the quietness.  He shakes his head and looks down to his friends on the street, showing his empty hands to them as if saying, 'Nothing to see up here!'

He comes down and rejoins them on the street.  "Nothing!  Nothing up there at all.  It's eerily quiet out here too.  Not many people out in the streets either.  Weird.  Let's go over and see the Gnome and maybe get some answers, huh?"

Bucko carefully positions an oil cloth over his musket as the rain starts, he cradles it in his arms, with the muzzle down....

"Rain at least keep sthe lake full and the streets clean, but washes away things as well."

With Brokk on the roof, he doesn't see anything odd but does notice what looks like dark smoke in the docks area but its really hard to even seen especially with the downpour of rain. Perhaps he's just thinking its what he saw or the dock workers are busy or a possible airship crashed but most would believe it would cause more mayhem. He climbs down and Xander glances around. Still nothing in the road. Nothing odd. Just pouring rain that hits the muzzle making Bucko's work pretty hard but not possible. Vermina seems a bit out of it as Xander walks up to her and places a hand over her shoulder probably for support for her. Or maybe the mage.

"I just saw some smoke down by the dock area.  Nothing up on the roof.  Wanna go back to the Gnome?" Brokk asks as he descends back to the group.

"Could everyone be off the streets because of those machines that attacked us? Are there more?"

 Vermina shared some of her disturbing fears as She traveled with the group and tried to listen and consider what they were saying.

"If more machines shows up Bucko take down whoever be watching from roof and they not be as good puppet master with hot lead in the faces!"


Bucko pats the top of his musket as he talks about shooting someone in the face...

"I've gotta say Bucko, you're pretty good with that thing.  Keep up the good work.  I like your skills too Vermina.  We're a unique bunch.  Machines seem to have everyone spooked for sure."  He keeps walking with them to his bosses shop.

Bucko smiles broadly he does hit most of the time, and it is certainly a good skill set, that most goblins are not known for....

"Surprises gnome too, he say that must have bee crack-pot who made Bucko crack-shot!"

"Vermina, helas good, better than Buckos bandages, and better than fancy hooman clerics in big temples!"

"Apparently you don't like mine." Xander speaks out and starts to head towards the gear shop. Once there they find a strange sight-most of the buildings look abanadoned or closed up. There is no light coming from within the shop and a glass window is shattered but from here it looks like it was shattered inside. Rain is still coming down making the eery sight well more eery.

Brokk's eyes go wide when he sees the condition of the outside of the shop he has been working in.  He looks to Bucko and motions him to follow or lead up to the door and then enter quietly.

Xander nods, watching the others and slowly follows next to Vermina. The goblin opens the door slowly and finds the shop trashed. Gears are thrown all around. Some of the racks are either dented or on the floor. This place looks like it had better days! The construct dog enters and looks around with Brokk following right behind him. Theres some odd goo on the floor, smashed as well and scattered around. Where the desk that the gnome usually sat, the chair is turned over and on the ground. All of his gear is knocked to the ground. There seems to be no sign of the gnome. But there is a closed door near the back of the shop and a second floor.

Bucko points to the door and makes his way over to it,

He holds a finger in front of his mouth the way humans do to say they are going to be sneaking....

He then nods to Brokk

He sets himself to one side of the door, because if there is one thing a goblin with a gun knows it is angles of fire.....

He motions for Brokk to grab the knob and hold position on the other side of the door...

Brokk draws out his kukri as he grabs the door knob to open it.  Once he is set, he returns the nod to Bucko and turns the door knob/handle to open the door and enter.

        A block down the street, Isaac makes his way carefully through the downpour, silently bemoaning the later labour he will have cleaning his armour. As he walks his patrol, he catches a glimpse of what he thinks are furtive figures outside the gnomish gear shop. Unsure of the shadows considering the absolute torrent of water the Gods have chosen to dump on the city, he approaches quietly until he stands at the door of the shop. Glass glittering on the ground at the front indicates something has occurred, and two hazy figures at the door confirm it.
        He draws his cold iron blade and unholsters his shield, preparing for the looters he expects. "Halt, miscreants!" He shouts as he steps fully into view, ready for combat, "Drop your ill-gotten goods and stand ready for arrest!"

Brokk stops his progress of opening the door and turns his head slowly to the voice issuing commands.  "You've got to be kidding me!"

"Brokk?!? What are you doing here, breaking into the gear shop?" Isaac looks around, taking in the obvious destruction of the shop and spotting the others in the party, "You couldn't have done all this, since I saw you enter moments ago. What's going on? I didn't think I'd see you all again like thieves in the night." Lowering his weapon and shield, the knight of Sarenrae is visibly perplexed.

"Isaac?  I work here!  What are you doing here?  No, hell no we didn't do this.  We were attacked at the tavern by some machines, and we walked up on my boss's shop looking like this," he tells Isaac as he shows him his wounds from the confrontation.

Bucko is surprised by the turn of events as well....

"I-zac, that is yous.  Where you beens? We was almost cut to bits by these machines....."

Bucko shows the machines to the paladin (I guess he is a friend, everyones pal)....

Addressing Broķk, he offers, "If those still pain you, my Lady's magics can close them?" A brief inspection is all he offers Bucko's collection  saying "Those devices are beyond my kenn, friend, you know that. I can't understand thier tick-tock lives. Do they not need a controller or something?"

Bucko nods enthusiastically...
"That what Brokk say that he thought he saw someone on the roof above the fray, thought might be the master of tha puppets. "

The goblin pats his musket...
"They tries again they gets face full of lead!"

Bucko introduces Vermina
"She heals very good job, better than Bucko!"

Gripping his quarterstaff, Xander lowers his hood as he turns to face the paladin "Isaac, we do not know who or what is controlling them if anyone is at all. What Brokk saw could be something, or could be someone watching from above. Mayhaps its the one who os controlling them. But that is conjuncture. We're guessing and not solving anything. I want to find out who is doing this as the machines killed another libarian in front of us and I am also looking for a friend that went missing. There is something about a plague as well. Mayhaps they are connected or perhaps they are. We don't know. And Bucko just wants to cause as much trouble as he can. That doesn't help." He looks over at Bucko "Right Bucko? You just want to shoot things? Thats not why I asked you to help. You do realize this? Probably not. I hope I can explain it to you further and you attempt to grasp it. Its not that I am trying to be mean, I am trying to get you to understand what is going on. Shooting first isn't the best option. And we all know Vermina and what she is capable of, yet some have their secrets." Glancing at Brook he sighs "It seems like you beliave they were being controlled and yet have no proof, and believe this person was the culprit. Again, its what you believe with little proof. We should find out what is real and what is not. Facts. And listening to Bucko isn't a wise move." He kneels down to be eye to eye with Bucko "Not that we do not listen, my friend. That is not what I ment. What I mean..." He sighs "Your help would be appreciated, Isaac."

"My foes? I didn't want these enemies and they attacked the group. They went at all of your friends. As far as I know I have no enemies. Does that go against your code, Isaac? Not helping people who are in need and are your friends as well? A strange code." Xander felt like he was being attacked by the accucastion. Its been a rough night "Perhaps we were at the wrong place at the wrong time. Or the right place. I don't know." Perhaps trusting Isaac isn't a wise move but he's a holy warrior.

In reply to Xander Xalus (msg # 113):

A bit taken aback by the barrage, Isaac replies "I'm not sure what you're implying, Xander, but my 'code' isn't so narrow-minded. We do what we must to promote the good and defeat the evil, if it can't be turned. All else is narrative to that goal, and helping friends is just common sense."

Bucko shakes his head at the two of them....

"Yous both talks too much with too many words, we no time for words now, we is trying to finds who murders librabrians and also other things to do as well, no times for talks in the rain, we talks later on by the fire aith all who wants to say a lot, then Bucko can drink...err listen to yous both."

Bucko decides he is going to see about the upstairs, for all he knows the gnome is bleeding out somewhere up there.....

Bucko goes on not waiting for the others.....

Seeing Bucko heading up, Isaac follows as well, more suited to action over debate. Sword and shield at the ready, he prepares for possible foes.

As the goblin goes up the stairs, the door slams open and the gnome stares at him but has a interesting weapon-a pistol with a glowing end "Don't move. Drop yer gun. Try anything an' you won't like that outcome." Its hard to tell if he even saw anyone but the gnome seems focused on Bucko "You all talk too damn much. Specially you, goblin. All that messed up way yah talk. I said drop it. Don't make me ask twice. Who in bloody hell are you?" Everyone can hear him but its hard to really see him besides Bucko. Going up the stairs-bad idea. Well it can be.

Bucko sets his musket down...puts his hands up...

"Gnome is my friend we looks for him, worried he is in troubles."

Bucko sticks a thumb towards his chest...
"I be Bucko Rackingclaw."

Brokk gets behind something so he isn't accidentally shot by his employer.  He calls out to him, "Hey Boss!  It's me Brokk.  These're my friends with me. Dont shoot, I'm coming out."

 Vermina is willing to continue on with the others, but hearing the aggressive threatening to shoot, She would hide her smaller body behind her larger friends.

Isaac helpfully makes himself the thing Brokk gets behind, his considerable bulk a solid mass against accidents. "Now, let's stay peaceful and un-flamed, or whatever that weapon does. We're looking for your safety, after all." he says, putting his sword away.

As long as Isaac doesn't mind, he will take the human shield option peeking out behind him as he talks to the Gnome.

Bucko keeps his hands up....

Bucko spends some time thinking carefully and he manages to say.

"You said we so loud and talks loud so you know we are supposed to be here and are concerned for our friend."

"Everyone drop yer damn weapons. Now!" The gnome keeps the gun up aimed at the goblin "Brokk? That you? Son of a damn..." Though it apparently means he knows the others, he keeps the weapon still ready "Bloody good fer nothin' crazy constructs came in here and wrecked my shop! My beautiful shop!"

"Everyone relax and put your weapons away! Yeah boss, it's me!  They attacked us at the tavern as I dropped off what you had given me to deliver."

Brokk sheathes his own kukri and waves at the Goblin, " He's a little ticked off right now and he'll shoot you."

"I plans to shoot his face, whens I finds it."

The ratfolk is a bit more relaxed now that people are no longer threatening each other and yelling. Vermina is still a bit wary though and still hiding a little bit behind Brokk, but not as much anymore. Some spooks her probably the gnome yelling and she shifts off behind everyone and steps outside. Out of sight, out of mind.

Standing more like a guard than a barrier now, he sheathes his sword and slings his shield, letting the conversation flow past him. Seeing how things seem under control and not adversarial, Isaac heads back downstairs to watch for these aforementioned construct-raiders at the main door.

Brokk and looks at Bucko, "Lower your damn gun Bucko!  He's not our enemy!"  Brokk next steps out from behind Isaac.  "C'mon boss.  Cooler heads prevail.  We're all good here.  Matter of fact, Isaac here is a Paladin!  How much more gooder do you need?"

OOC: Brokk is assuming that Bucko is talking about shooting the Gnome in the face?

Bucko points at the stairs and his musket on the ground...

"I already did!  We are all friends here!"

"WHat in bloody hell is that damn goblin even saying fer crying out loud. Make some damn sense you little...well..." The gnome grumbles, keeping the gun at Bucko "I don't trust anyone that worship anyhing. Yah know that. All that there taking their noses and shoving them so far up their..." He finally puts the gun in his belt and starts to head down "Move it!" He mutters.

Seeing nothing of note in the empty streets, Isaac turns back to face the interior, wondering where the true enemy hides.

Brokk will make sure he gets out of the way of his boss and ask, "Any idea what happened here boss?"

Bucko keeps his hands up and heads down the stairs as instructed....

"Someone talk sense to tha gnome before he narrows the gap between mah ears for me."

"Maybe if you made -sense- with the way you talked. I strongly suggest yah keep yer trap shut before I close it fer good. My shop is bloody trashed and I don't want tah hear you doing stuff with your mouth I don't understand. Will someone tell me what the hell he's trying to say? Keep talking goblin and I'll narrow the gap, oh I definatly will. No head." Wel he's upset and taking it out on Bucko. Course not even Xander can't make sense of him half the time.

Xander steps up and rests a hand on Bucko's shoulder and looks at the gnome "I am sure the libary can help out with the repairs. And we got some construct parts we can part ways with. For free. Right Bucko?" His eyes narrow on the goblin next to him "We have some questions if you don't mind and lookng for a friend. Something about a plague and do you know if someone was controlling them?"

The gnome grumbles and grabs a chair. He sits it up and sits down "Dunno. Damn construct  came here and wrecked this place. No rhyme or reason. I was upstairs and I peered down. Yah don't live as long as I do by mouthin' off or taking chances." He rubs his chin "Well I'd check the contrusts but as yah can tell I got others things tah tend to. But I guess I can take a quick look." Grumble grumble. He drops down.

This entire place looks like a bomb went off.

Brokk nods when Xander puts his hand on his shoulder.  "I'm going to try and find out who did this to your business boss.  I owe that to you for putting a roof over my head and giving me a job."

Bucko keeps his hands up while waiting for some sign from the gnome that he has for certain decided not to shoot him....

He left the musket on the stairs and he is not at all happy about it....what if more machines show up???

The most still and quiet you have had from the goblin in some time..

The gnome pulls off pieces of construct. He goes into the back and comes back with misc tool and gets to work. He's definatly not happy since his shop is almost destroyed and now he has to work without not having time to even process.

Plus that damn goblin gets on his nerves! He gets under the chestplate and pulls out a really odd mechanical device "Something I say was controlling them but not sure how close. Mayhaps they just went nuts under whomever was controlling them. Hard to say. If you give me time I can figure it out, course the shop needs to be fix first." He grumbles.

Xander glances at Brokk's hand on his shoulder and nods "Could be time but the library can help yet they will need compensation. Perhaps you do free work for them in exchange for them aiding the shop and suppling it at times with what is needed? Partnership. Course it could change as I don't govern the library."

As much as the gnome doesn't like it he nods in agreement. He is able to get two sawblade weapons off and starts to examine the 'heads'.

Bucko seeing the gnome involved in his task, goes up the stairs and retrieves his musket, once he has it in hand he heads outside to wait out of the sight line of the gnome and nods in answer to Xander in answer to going to the library...

Brokk will begin to tidy up the shop while the Gnome works on the machines as Xander pitches his idea.

Isaac, singularly unequipped to help with those gears and mechanical things, stands guard at the door, in case these rogue machines make another appearance.

After some time, the gnome is able to get the saw blades uses and puts them aside. He gets the chest plates fully open and stares at them "R? Whats this for? Eched inside. Both of them. New I can tell."

The wizard kneels down and puts his hands on the two chestplates <blue"Isaac and Brokk? Can you keep this place safe? Shore up the door and the window. Bucko? Where is he?"</blue> He glances around and then to the gnome "Once this shop is safe, we can go into the back and figure out what is needed. Come morning, I intend to go to the library. You can write up a letter asking for help. It will aid you." He stands up and goes to grab the chestplates and puts the near the stairs leading up.

The gnome grumbles again and goes about trying to clean up this mess. Between Brokk and the gnome, the floor is cleaned up and some areas are in decent shape but most of the gears and gizmos are ether shot or in bad shape. Xander doesn't know how to fix them but he does his best putting the ones that can be fix in one pile and the other in another.

They get a good amount done and he looks at Isaac for a moment "One of us will keep watch. So we go to the library come morning then check out the slums and the dock? Perhaps we can find out who or what is behind this. Sound good? You don't need to come, Isaac but your aid would be appreciated."

Bucko pops his head up high enough to peek into the window, standing on a wooden box for extra height....

"Bucko still heres stands guard makes sure no more people on roofs or robots coming."

"That's something I can take care of, certainly." the Paladin answers as he starts taking damaged scraps and boards, scavenging from nearby buildings as needed, to reinforce the window openings and such, providing a worthy defensive barrier against easy assault. If enough materials are available, he will also barricade the upper floor windows, and look for any other accesses that may expose a weakness in the defenses. His stalwart enthusiasm for the task inspires calm and focus in all nearby.
When asked about going out in the morning, he answers "I am curious at least to see some of what was reported doing all this chaos. I'd certainly want to come and find out."

Brokk finishes the cleaning and takes a seat.  "Whatever you need me to do to help out the Boss!"

Bucko watches the broken down robots being turned into armaments for the shop itself and he nods approvingly....

"This is a good plan, to have a place safe from sawing robots so we can shoot them before they can get to us!"

The gnome stares at the goblin. He throws a fist up and Xander shakes his head as the man goes back into his backoffice "I will speak to him. Bucko? Mind watching the area for a bit? I think we all need some quiet time."

Between Isaac and Brokk fortfiy the area, it seems to be good enough until the gnome can find something better. Isaac easily got the door and window boarded up as well with Brokk's help.

Bucko perks up and says through  one of the small cracks...

"You gots it, you hear gunshots yous come running."

Brokk helps Isaac put the last item up to fortify the shop.  He puts his hands on his hips and looks at their work, "I guess that will do for now Isaac?"

Nodding, the steel-clad warrior says "Indeed. Anything substantial coming through those boards is going to draw our attention. Let's see how the others are doing." Making the rounds, Isaac checks to see if any more help is needed, always keeping a weather eye open for any unusual noises from outside.

Later on once Xander returns:

Once back with Xander, he seeks more details of the initial attacks. "You mentioned something about these attacks at the library? And a plague? What kind of disease is afflicting people? Where did this all start?"

Bucko stands his post outside, he recalls talking to a guard once, so he repeats the general orders for guards as he remembers it, mostly under his breath.....

"I will guard everything within the limits of my post and quit my post only when properly relieved.
I will obey my special orders and perform all my duties in a military manner.
I will report violations of my special orders, emergencies, and anything not covered in my instructions to the commander of the relief."

Xander remains in the back as everyone takes their time resting regrouping and the light begins to form. Everyone seems to be heaked up and the mage comes out. WHen asked, he glances at Isaac "Far as I know of there was no attacks on the library. Not sure where you got the information from but I suggest you are making others nervious. We found a dead librarian, killed by one of the constructs earlier. I intend on taking him back this morning and he was taken inside. I think we can find information there and once done, we can check out the slums and harbor. Sound good? I do not know where my friend dissapeared to and I intend on trying to find them. It is odd, but she could simply could be back at the library. As for the disease I don't know even if it is one and the gnome found a 'R' in his search of the bodies. You were here when he found it, Isaac." He seems to be frustrated and upset as the gnome comes out, grumbling something with a parchment folded up and he hands it to the mage "Sorry if I came across as rude. I am just worried."

"Ah, I see. Misunderstanding happens when you come late to the party. Let's get your librarian back and see what transpires from there, after we've double-checked the fortifications and such. I'll leave the search for information, once there, to you." He then does exactly that, confirming the barriers are solid and then helps to pack up the others.

In reply to Brokk Grunk (msg # 154):

Smiling, he answers, "I've been to the slums, when necessary, my friend. Those poor souls there are always so desperate and I'm happy to help where I can to bring them out of that wretched place. If we wish to not be noticed, though, I will conceal my Lady's glory for a time."

Once everyone is gathered together, the group heads outside. The gnome remains in the shop, grumbling. Xander motions for the goblin to come over as they head for the library. The area on the way seems peaceful. Some people move to their shops, buying and selling. There seems to be no sign of constructs or whatnot. A few people wave at the group. Xander doesn't wave back, seeming out of it and focused on the task.

As they march along, Isaac is full of smiles and acknowledgments of everyone who waves or takes notice of the group, a few words of greeting and pleasantries as time allows. "What happened seems to have been just against certain places, friends. I don't see much damage here."

"We musts be targets then, when you gets shot and yer friends gets shots, you bet it was no accidents."

Bucko is suprised anyone is waving, he watches them do the thing and then when no spell comes flying at him he knows it is just a greeting.....but he does not like it.

Brokk nods as he acknowledges some of the people he might be familiar with along the way.  "Yeah Isaac but, doesn't mean it couldn't have come from here!  Desperate times makes desperate people.  Not a bad place to hide out either if you don't wanna be found.  A little coin could buy a lot of friends around here.  Damage isn't always physical!"


"Just be ready to go when we need you to Bucko.  Take it down a notch for now, OK?  We don't need you shooting any innocent for waving to you the wrong way."

The pretty redhead rounded the corner between buildings at a full sprint, or as much as a girl could in a chain shirt, barefoot and carrying a book could run.  She had to get that book to the librarian pretty much yesterday, and she was not willing to pay late fees that she could not afford, Goddess help her!  Of course, Her Lady did not care if she was late with a book, but it was not as if the petite priestess cared.  After all, rules were rules.  But when she was in the garden, she forgot everything.

So around the corner she went, her long tresses trailing, her breath a bit gasping as she turned to corner to make the last few steps to...

But she didn't see the group in front of her as she was running with her head down.  So she didn't see the poor Goblin that the Half Elf ran full speed into.  Indeed, she didn't see anything as she fell head over heels, her skirt floating over her head as she truly summersaulted over the hapless little fellow, knocking him flat and landing on her back, the book going one way, her going the other as they all came to the ground in an ungainly heap.

Bucko hears the bare feet on the wet surface behind him and he gets into a semi-crouch his musket parallel to the ground as they become a tumbled mess....

"Yous Yous yous runs over us!  Why you so heavy for girls?"

Bucko finds his large feet a help in coming to a stop, as he stands back up only a bit dizzy from the experience....honestly it was nothing compared to the goblin games.....

Isaac, ill prepared for a lithe assailant impacting one of the party, leans down with an amused smile to help the young lass to her feet. "Well, that was an unfortunate event to both the book and yourself, lady! Are either of you damaged more than your pride?" His air of calm and peace surrounding them all, he looks over her dishevelment for any injury.

Brokk takes a step back from the three-person pile up and readies but, does not draw his concealed Kukri).  "Hey!  What's the matter girlie?  You OK?"

Her face red with embarrassment, the young half elf gratefully took the large human's hand and allowed him to help her to her feet.  She pulled down her skirt, brushed her hair behind one pointed ear, then picked up her book.

Up close, she was indeed very pretty, with features that delicately blended both her human and elven heritage.  She had a leather flight helmet on her head, a pair of goggles perched on top, and rings on her fingers and in her ears.  The chain shirt was tinged green, a pretty color, and was designed under her blouse to allow her arms and midsection to be displayed.  About her neck was a very pretty necklace, which held a fairly large medallion, which itself was silver and showed a stylized songbird of many colors in a circular pattern.

She looked again at the both the goblin she had run over, and at the human and... was that a part orc?  All this allowed her to mostly catch her breath.

"I am so very sorry, good fellows," she stammered, her voice soft and pleasant.  "I fear that I was in such a hurry that I did not watch where I was going.  I hope no one is hurt?  My Lady would not be happy if I were to have harmed any of you."

"Our friendly low fence you ran over is rather resilient." He says, gesturing at Bucko, "I'm sure he took no lasting harm from the tumble. I am Isaac Harvester, Paladin of Sarenrae, at your service. Your haste indicates some manner of urgency and possibly trouble - can we be of service in any way?"

Bucko notices that the girl who ran him over seems to be alright...

He points his thumb at his chest...
"Bucko did goods job!  Breaks girls falls!"

He looks back the way she came, still trying to figure out what she was running from.....he scratches his head....

"Thank you, Mr. Bucko, for breaking my fall.  I fear that it is a bad habit of mine, to rush from one place to another.  I am gratified that you are not injured."

She turned to the Paladin, giving him a bow.  "I am glad no one was injured in my quest to return a tardy book, Sir Paladin.  I am a Priestess of My Lady Shelyn, Goddess of Beauty and Love.  She teaches that I am not harm others but in protection of others, but I sometimes forget that I am my own worst enemy sometimes!"  She blushed.  "Still, forgive me for interupting your journey to what is likely something important.  With your forgiveness, I shall continue to the Library to attend to my own mission."

Isaac raises a shapely eyebrow at that and offers, "We are also heading to the Library for our own purposes. Would you be adverse to travelling together for the short distance, for company? While we may not be the most symmetrical crew, we do rather well at reaching our goals unhindered or slowed. Perhaps along the way, you could solve a slight puzzle I'm having. Did you hear or see any unusually violent constructs, out and about yesterday?"

Watching the goblin get knocked down and the woman lying there before behind helped up, Xander grips his staff. He glanced at Bucko "You alright? Both of you? I am Xander, a librarian at the well library. Searching for a missing woman. Trying to find out why they killed a librarian....and to find out something about a plague. If there is one." The mage stands there, with a hovering cart and something with a blanket covering it. He kneels down to Bucko "You did well. Stopped her in her tracks and gave us the advantage of meeting her. Good job." Course Xander made it up but if it makes Bucko feel good-so be it.

Brokk relaxes as the situation has obviously turned friendly.  He crosses his arms, "Is this the girlie you were looking for Xander?"

He begins to look around the area to see if anyone was chasing her or maybe watching her.

"No." Xander looks at Brokk.

She looked at Isaac, thinking.  "Nay, I have seen naught of such creatures, either recently or further back.  It has been quiet around me for the most part."

She frowned at the goblin.  "I am no 'girlie,' Mr. Bucko.  I am a woman, even if I am somewhat young.  Do not let my Elven blood fool you.  I would appreciate it if you would call me by name, but not call me 'girlie.'"

She crossed her arms, then looked to Issac again.  "Since I am going there, I shall be most pleased to accompany all of you.  Are you all new here, or have I simply not seen you, as I have been busy in my works."

Brokk looks at the priestess with a confused look.  He then points over to the Goblin, "Umm, he's Mr. Bucko.  What's your name Gir-... I mean um, lady?  We know you said you priestess.  Priestess of Lady Shelyn got name?"

OOC: I'm thinking you got Brokk and Bucko confused.  Just playing along accordingly...

Bucko sniffs the air....

"Yous smells likes flowers and not stinks like man or fish, so yous is too some types of girl monster..."

Yes Bucko just upped the antie to "monster" for her.....but he did get trampled!

IC: The young woman blushed again.  So many names, and she was still confused!  "Forgive me sir, I... I am sometimes a bit ahead of myself.  I am Kisaiya, and I am sorry I missspoke.  I did not mean to.  Girlie rather confused me..."

She turned to stare at the real Bucko, and frowned.  "I am no monster, small sir, even if I smell of flowers.  Lavender to be specific!  I apologized for running into you, but that still does not make me a monster!"

Brokk snickers, "It's all right Kissya.  Takes a lot to offend me.  Name's Brokk.  You ain't bein' chased or nothin' like that, are ya?"

Kisaiya shook her head, sending her tresses flying a bit.  She tucked them behind her ears again, then she looked up and down the street.  "No, there is no one chasing me.  Should I be concerned?  Are there people chasing you, Mr. Brokk?  Or you and your friends?  I've not been chased, I just seemed to run about as if being chased.  I have done nothing wrong, nor offended anyone.  I'm just a simple priestess who only wants to help others."

"Just looked like you were in a hurry.  Not too good a place if you know what I'm sayin'."

The Half-Orc relaxes a little bit and leans on a wall.  "We're not sure on people chasing us.  We're lookin' for answers on why those machines attacked us and my bosses place last night."

Bucko nods enthusiatically....


"Yes Bucko knows this game she plays calls it kiss chase, the boys chase her an she runs an runs and if boy catches her theys gets kisses!!!!  Counts Bucko out of kiss chase games!"

"No one chases Bucko, Bucko shoots them calls it bang boom game."

Brokk grins, "He's uh, very 'passionate with his talent."

The half elf stared at Bucko for a moment, then she burst out laughing.  "Oh, my friend!  Trust me, I do not play that game, or at least not in the way you describe!  But I promise you, I will not kiss you unless you ask nicely!  No boom boom needed!"

She recovered herself, the mirth shining in her eyes.  She then turned to Brokk, trying to look more serious.

"A good point, sir.  So yes, if you all are going to the library, as am I, then I will be happy to accompany you.  While I a Priestess of Beauty, I can defend myself against those who would hurt me or others.  So if evil things are here, I will aid as best as I can, in the names of love and peace."

Brokk puts a hand up to Kisaiya, "Nah, not sir Kissaya, just Brokk is fine.  Maybe my dad, if I knew who that was, would probably be called sir."

Bucko heaves a sigh of relief that the fast and furious girl has slowed down and will not hurt anyone else....perhaps she needs shoes....

"Library....Bucko reads too!"

Certainly, Brokk.  I get too formal sometimes.  Not my upbringing, just polite.  A girl can get more done with kindness than threats."

She smiled at the goblin.  "That's wonderful, Bucko.  What do you like?  This is an old saga about brave knights and princesses.  Very romantic.  Do you like books like that?"

She brushed her hair back again, then unconsciously adjusted her armor and clothing, which only served to bring attention to her very womanly curves.

Isaac moves ahead of the group, now that the speed bump in the road has joined their procession, and continues heading to the library. "Then let's get back on track. Daylight is passing and the longer we wait, the more likely the cause of these disruptions will escape justice."

The wizard just stands there looking dazed and glances in the direction of the library. He waits until everyone is ready to leave and starts out ahead. It seems peaceful. No constructs. no one out to get them. Just relaxing as the mage maneauvers the floating casket with the blanket through the streets. He's quiet, perhaps just focused. Or doesn't want to talk. Bucko can't read but acts like it. Everyone knows that. But the mage doesn't want to bother him with it. He's got other things to tend to. When the cleric gets close he pulls back the blanket temporarily to reveal the dwarf's face and the hole in his chest. His eyes go from the dwarf to the cleric and he sighs before pulling back the blanket.

Kisaiya's eyes widen, then she nods at the wizard.  Dead dwarf.  Hole.  Firearm or magic bolt.

She walks with them, now very quiet.  Of course, none know she actually has shoes, she does not like wearing them.  And while not a genius, she is fairly smart.  These men are taking a dead man... to the library?  Odd...

"Bucko been learning to reads, knows letters and cat and dog...maybe fish Want sign so smart people knows I sells fish since stacks of fish is not enough for people to knows!"

Bucko stops talking when  he sees  something is going on up ahead...

Brokk looks Kisaiya up and down before returning to address her, "It's Ok to be polite, until it's time not to be polite.  Kindness and threats have their place in society no matter how you look at it.  Some are subtle, some are blunt.  We don't have to worry about that, right?  After last night at the bar, be prepared to be 'impolite' in case we run into trouble, OK?"

"Whattay see Bucko?"

Kisaiya, despite her misgivings, puts her hand on her short sword, which is there in case she hasn't her glaive, and looks about.

"I don't have to be polite if my friends are in danger.  And I assume you are all my friends, right?  I'd hate to be wrong about that."

She pulled down her goggles, which made her eyes look bigger as she watched the street.

Brokk shrugs his shoulders, "OK, you're Ok in my book Kissya.  Brokk will be your friend.  I like girls who can fend for themselves."

A tear forms in the goblins eye...
"Bucko never has girlfriend before...."


He looks around briefly....
"No one I needs to tell they all already heres, so they knows!"

While everyone seem to flock and swoon to the cleric, Xander seems to be worried about other things. His face is serious as he keeps moving and motions for the others to do the same. Perhaps he wants to say something but now isn't the time or place. Though the half-elf is attractive. As the group keeps moving through the busy streets, low and behold the library. Standing on either side is two guards protecting it. People move around, going from place to place and some are holding up small shops.

Isaac heads to the doors of the library to open them wide and let Xander and his unfortunate cargo inside.

Kisaiya stands to one side, looking around, her book in one hand, her hand on her sword with the other.  "This girl doesn't want to fend for anything.  Isn't it... odd... to take a body to a library?"

Bucko has chosen the moment of entering the library to crunch on a halfling wandermeal cake, and he says with his mouth full....

"I dunno, but Xander said binders be in tha based mint and they maybe makes mummys?"

He is suddenly embarrassed and offers the other half of his crunchy bit to Kisaiya
"Yous hungry too?"

She smiled at the Goblin.  Truly, she was not that all familiar with Goblins, but she still carried an open mind.  And he was cute, after all.

"No thank you, little friend.  I ate already.  Enjoy and be ready for what faces us.  I fear that with dead bodies, we may have little beauty.  But I pray we have something to bring us further to something good."

That in mind, she paused to set down her book and put on slipper shoes.  She might need them, after all.

Bucko looks around the library and for once he stops cradling his musket and slings it across his back and covers it over with his cloak....

"Yous reminds me Xander say library place to bes respectful..."

Bucko considers his feet and whether or not he should get shoes......

"This is how we take back the dead of the library-they will read him his last writes and check the body. I am not going to let him lie in the street to be picked at!" The elf seems to get irritated with the cleric, his eyes narrowed on her but he sighs and looks away "I am sorry for my poor reaction but this is what he would want and I feel it is neccasarry to bring him here. His body will be sent to his hometown." He looks at Bucko "Once we go inside, do not talk. Any of you alright and if you choose keep it to a low whisper. Some inside won't take it too kindly and wish to use the library as a safe haven to study and be with other scholars."

The guards move away as they see the paladin going towards them and opening the doors to allow the entrance of the deceased. Xander moves ahead, adjust his cloak "Xander. I have come with dire need of assistance with this librarian. May he rest in peace. Shall I take him in or will one of you take him elsewhere within the confines of this establishment?"

One of the guards seems to recognize the elf and nods "I will take him where he needs to go." He takes the end of the floating wagon and starts to head into a different area but connected to the library.

Xander takes a deep breath.

Brokk smiles at Xanders request.  "OK Xander, I'll leave the embarrassing to Bucko!"

Brokk will follow everyone and try to behave himself the best he can.

Kisaiya looks at the gathering with confusion.  "I would not let any man to be left in the streets, nor do I wish to inpugn any to be picked at.  As a Priestess of Herself, Shelyn, I would allow no man or woman to be disgrased in death or otherwise, while in a library or anywhere else.  Nor will I alow myself to be disparaged while in this place.  I am a Priestess, and will be treated with respect!"

She stamped her foot in her anger.

Listening to the words spun out at him, Xander just stares at her "Are you done? If you need time out we can wait." Xander probably grabbing the bull by the horns. He has meet clerics before, acting all holier then thou. Probably why he steers clear of them. Two different views. One worships being a scholar and scholarly arts. The other worships something that doesn't make itself known.

Her eyes widened in surprise.  "Don't think that because you are a full blood that you can speak to me that way!" she replied softly.  "Yes, I will wait.

She stepped a few steps away, then followed up at the end of the line of her new fellows, forcing herself to calm down after her emotional outburst.

"As abrasive and diplomatic as always, Xander." Isaac shakes his head "You'll give this one a bad impression of our little band before she really gets a chance to know us. Go. Take care of your friend - don't just let the guard do that task - and see them laid to rest properly. It's the last, greatest blessing one can do for another. We'll wait here until you return, and then proceed with our search for the culprit."

"You believe I said this because I am a full blood?" Xander stares at the cleric. "For everyones information, I don't really give a damn. Have you seen my allies? You want to stay here be my guest. Want to pout? I expect that from Bucko-not you. If you want for me to call you Priestess that definatly will not happen. That is what you are doing-pouting. And Icaac?" He turns towards the paladin "I am not going. The guard will take the body which is already did and know what they are doing. Plus I didn't know the man even though we worked in the same location. You need someone to guide you around the libary. It seems the first chance you get you want me to leave." He tries to regain his composue. speaking in his normal tone which makes it sound eery. He's got a lot on his plate.

"We find man who sent robots!  that man killed librariean tries to kills us too, and tore up gnome shop, thats the SOB I wants us to finds!"

Bucko bursts out and then settles back down quickly looking at the ground while he rubs his big toe in the dirt.....

Kisaiya was still.  She knew she was speaking out of turn, and yet the full-elf's response did nothing to feel she did wrong.  Clearly, he did not respect her race, nor her religion.  And while she wanted to react more, she knew that was wrong.  Love and Beauty did not react with jealousy and anger.

She whispered a prayer of forgiveness to her Goddess, her hand on her holy symbol, then she looked up.

"I think we need to find why this poor soul is dead.  And as my friend..." she hesitated, as she indicated Bucko.  A friend who was Goblin?  But he was, and she embraced it.  "My friend is true that the man who was killed is our goal.  So I say we go find him.  Anyone know where to look?  I just came to return a book, and I can do that now.  But if I can help, please let me help."

Nodding, the Paladin responds "Very well. Lead us into your library and let's find what our next steps will be. This delay is costing use dearly." He then proceeds past the guards and into the foyer, waiting for the rest to follow.

Brokk will follow the others and tries to keep his manners by not opening his mouth.

Kisaiya walked softly on her soft slippers, looking about her.  She had been here before, yes, but it seemed so much more... sinister... this time.  So she looked around, her hand on her sword, her other hand straying almost at random to the songbird symbol at her breast.  Uneasy.  But still, brave enough to follow.

Bucko shifts foot to foot waiting to see when the others are going to actually go into the building, as he wonders about saying more, but he cannot think of anything he needs to say.......

"Yeah...."

Inside the building there are two stairwellls going to the second floor and one below ground. Books upon books are in aisles from the front of the libary to the back. Centered is two people, looking humanoid sitting at a big desk. A few others mingle about and sit down in small sitting areas at the end of the aisles-four in total. It looks perfect in diameter. It just huge. From the outside its hard to tell how big it is-perhaps some sort of magical nature "I will be back. Bucko? Behave." He goes to gently put a hand on the cleric's shoulder before moving it and departing up the set of steps.

Kisaiya blinks at the gentle touch.  A bit of red comes to her cheeks.  Then, she nods, then moves forward to place her book where the returned books go.  A big part of her wants to browse for more books, but clearly, this is not the time, so she returns to the others.  She places a gentle hand on Brokk's shoulder.

"Behave now, okay?  I made enough trouble, don't want you getting in trouble too."

Bucko points to the two people seated at the counter...
"Bucko should ask them nice to show words and helps read?"

Brokk puts his hand on the shoulder of Bucko.  "There will be a time and place my friend!  Let's stick to the plan and just behave ourselves!"

Kisaiya chuckled.  "You two are trouble, aren't you?  Thank you for keeping us on track, Brokk.  Whatever that track is.  I am still confused.  Maybe someone will share that plan with me at some point?"

Bucko nods enthusiastically....

"Yes plan is finds man who cut Bucko with machine saw ands blast his head off with musket!"

Brokk nods to Bucko's assessment.  "Sounds about right Bucko.  Damn machine took a big cut out of me too!  They don't bleed no blood but, you can cut them just as well  Kissya."

Brokk laughs, "I don't know how you do it Bucko.  Very good idea!"

The half-orc waits while Isaac inquires about the constructs.

Bucko smiles broadly at his leadership and wonders if it is really that hard to leads big folk and especially stoopid who-mans........

Pointing fingers and yelling works on goblins, but not who-mans....they are stupid and lazy creatures has to be talked into doing....so much talks

Although it has been a brief few minutes, Bucko is already moving foot to foot and searching for enemies amongst the stacks and rows of books....

The two of them which appear to be humans wear the same thing. One of them speaks "You want to use the library to obtain construct information?" The other speaks out after "A variety of information is at your disposal. Four down and on the left." She looks at the other who speaks at the same time "Have a pleasent day!" Oh this is weird.

Isaac nods in thanks, heading to the location indicated. As they walk down the book-lined aisles, he says to his companions. "I intend to find if any records exist for that symbol you found on the constructs. Perhaps it'll give us some clue to the master of your foes."

"They have stuff like that in books here Isaac?" Brokk asks since books aren't his thing.

"They do, if the creator has been active in the past. Books are an excellent way to pass knowledge to others, even if the person writing it no longer exists. I don't know if we'll find what we are looking for, but at least it's worth a try and something to do while we await Xander's return." Isaac replies.

Brokk nods, seemingly impressed with the Paladin's thought process.  "If we find something Isaac, do we need to wait for Xander?  Who knows how long he could be here?  We could leave word where we go if he needs to find us."

A sudden though occurs to Bucko and he strains his brain just a little and he calls out to the others....a bit too loudly....

"Before was Jay Are....might still be!"

He clamps his hands over his mouth, it seems that the idea of not blurting out thoughts was something he was still learning...

Kisaiya listened, then let out a breath in exasperation.  "Boys, boys, boys!  Please!  We know that a man is dead.  We know that Bucko was attacked.  We know that constructs did that, or so you told me.  And none of this happened in the Library.  Perhaps, our efforts will be better undertaken at the place where the attacks happened?  I do not believe there is more to be learned here.  Now, I am new here, just a girl returning a book.  I have done that.  So if there is something to be learned, perhaps looking about elsewhere would be useful?"

She took another breath, hoping that she had not offended her new friends.

Isaac answers "From all accounts, the wizard and the rest determined there was nothing more to be learned at the battle site. Their gnome artificer is looking into the constructs themselves, but the only clue as to their master was that R symbol. If there's nothing found here, that may happen, but I was told we had nothing else to go on." Still walking towards the stacks, the paladin can't think of another option at this stage, since he wasn't even involved in the actual combat.

Everyone hears clear in their minds:

HUSH! THIS IS A LIBRARY!

The two librarians go to help Isaac looking for the 'R', but they find nothing. Isaac probably knows its relatively new and Xander probably mentioned it. Finding out something new in a old library doesn't really work.

Its possible to look up different knowledges as well. Xander doesn't return. Perhaps wrapped up in personal issues?

The librarians speaks out once they contend with Isaac and in a quiet tone they speak at the same time "Need any future help? We can do what we can! Thank you!" Odd ducks. Its like they are always near! Freaky.

With the help of the librarians, Isaac finds...nothing related to his searches. Perhaps he needs newer books. Saying to the librarians, "Unless my companions have something else to look for no, we will be leaving. I thank you for your time and aid." and heads towards the exit unless someone objects.

Bucko shakes his head vigorusly......
"Words in noggin not in ears.....wrong it is..."

Brokk shakes his head that he doesn't need anything from the library.  "Let's go then.  We got people to get who attacked us and my boss's shop!"

Bucko seems to be over standing around in the library....He is headed tow steps towards the door, stops himself and looks back remembering how slow whomans is....

Once back on the street, Isaac says to the group, "I'm intending to ask at my Temple about any serious diseases or the like in town. See where that leads. Any and all of you are more than welcome to the blessed House of Sarenrae!"

Kisaiya thought of perhaps asking about Xandar, but then again, he was a jerk.  It was not as if it was a huge city, after all.

Still...

"That Xandar fellow is still in there.  Do we need to wait for him?  Or leave a note?  I don't care if we go to someone elses place of worship, but it seems he was part of your group who is... doing... whatever you are doing?"

"Ah crap!  Yeah, maybe we should leave a message for him this way he can find us when he's done."

Brokk will go back into the library and approach the two librarians that had helped them.  "Could you give a message to our friend Xander that we went to the church of Sarenrae?"

"Good idea! I'm not one to hang around waiting for him, and if we leave a message, he'll find us when he's done." Isaac is more than happy to return to his Temple.

Bucko listens to the back and forth....

"Bucko hope temple is better funs than library is......does it has voices in head too?"

Isaac can't help but laugh at that. "Bucko, my friend, if you hear voices in your head at my Temple, it may mean you're God-called and I'll make you into a Paladin like me!"

The rogue gets to the center area and sees the twins. They look up at him and both smile "Welcome to the library. How may we help you?" Same time, both of them. Its pretty eery "To the Church?" One speaks and the other responds "Of course. If we see him, we will let him know." Same time "He's worried. We probably shouldn't say a word." Unison. Freaky and they smile.

OUTSIDE
Bucko and Isaac converse amoungst themselves. People come and go, moving from one shop to the next and play little attention. One of them smiles at Isaac, probably recongizing his god and they bow before going down a side ally. Seems like despite what is going on everyone seems to be in a good mood upon appearance.

Bowing in return, Isaac is pleased by the general well-being and calm of his town. A slight frown crosses his face for a moment when he thinks that someone has chosen to disrupt that peace, probably for a very poor reason.

Kisaiya left the library, walking with the others to the chapel.  No, this was not her Goddess, but love enveloped all, even other religions and worshipers.  They could only look at her and know that she was one following love and beauty.  So as she entered the temple, she smiled at all, and looked around, curious.  Another's temple was a curiosity to her.  So why not look?

LIBRARY
At the same time both of them speak "Xander has been worried about a librarian. Such a proud man. Good in what he does but bad with others. We will notified him. Pleasure to meet you and hope you return!" Its rather eery.

OUTSIDE
Upon a building visible to the group is a black cloaked form about 100' away and up about 100'. It seems to watch them then turns and quickly dissapears after a moment after darting off. No one seems to notice the form and everyone goes about their daily tasks as they wait for Brokk.

Brokk looks a bit uneasy with the duo.  "Umm, OK, thanks."

He walks back out into the street.  "Those two in there are really weird.  They said they would let Xander know we left."

Bucko is standing and using his thumb to judge where he saw a dark form, he is also checking the wind in case he has to aim for someone on a rooftop....

"Saws someone up there...watchings or follows us maybe?"

"Everyones in there is weirds to me!"

Looking up at the roofline for this reported spy, Isaac, growls slightly, hand on his sword. "If this is yet another agent of those that assaulted you before, we should be very wary of an ambush. "

Brokk turns to Isaac, "Apparently we've acquired an interest that we didn't ask for.  They wanted to hurt us and my boss why?  We don't know that part yet.  I've been ready for a fight Isaac!"

"Bucko know now, if saw hands attacks find person nearby who runs them and shoot him in the head, hards to run things that ways..."

Bucko pats his musket...

"Let's split.  Weak girl, maybe someone else, we be bait.  You big tough guys, go around and try to find them.  If they jump, we surprise them.  You get them, then maybe we get answers.  Deal?"

She stood with her hand on her sword, waiting.  She was new, didn't know everyone well, but ready for something!

"I was going to suggest that you and Isaac hang back and Bucko & I would be the bait but, Isaac seems to have other plans!  Let's not let him have all of the fun!"

As he runs after Isaac, he calls back to Kisaiya, "Kisya go with Bucko!"

The rogue and paladin search around and find a alleyway but no way for them to get to the roof easily. Its possible to climb up but could be hard yet there are several portustions coming out. There's no roof access along the building. So they can go inside and find a way or make a guess on where the 'follower' was going. Its hard to tell where it went from the ground.

The goblin and half-elf watch the others move down a alleyway. Several people mingle about shopping without a care in the world.

Brokk looks up at the roofs around them.  "Best I can call, whoever is following us, him, or they, are using the rooftops to move around and follow us.  Makes sense doing that so they're out of sight.  What do ya think Isaac?  Pick a likely direction and try our luck and hope they show their hand?  We could try and capture one of them and, well umm, have a hands on conversation with 'em?"

Shaking his head, he replies, "No, not strategically sound. If he is moving across the rooftops, he can out-maneuver us easily. We might need to draw them into an ambush. Perhaps if we make a scene loud enough, the watcher could be caught unawares? Who is the best at being sneaky, these days?"

Kisaiya looked at her little companion.  "Don't worry, I can take care of myself.  I'm not just a helpless girl.  My Goddess protects me, and gives me the tools to protect myself."

She smiled.  "Trust me, we'll make a good team!"

"Brokk and buckos both sneaky, nots likes that words very much...Bucko stealthy!" The goblin comments.

"Then you two should team up and see what you can quietly see from the rooftops, while I get back to the main group and act all obvious and paladiny and such." He says with a grin, "Maybe I can present a juicy target for our friend." After they go, he heads back to the main group, loudly saying "Nothing found. Must have been just a thief looking for something easy. So, what do you think we should do about those automatons you all fought?"

When the group gathered back up, Xander has yet to make a appearance. Several people are around, browing and taking in private. Everything besides that one lone person seems to be making a appearance. Several guards enter from where the location of the gear shop is but they seem to be not in a hurry. Four of them, moving towards the area past the library. They seem to be in good spirits but possibly hiding something. Or perhaps the others are, it remains unknown.

"Not chase shadows, we goes next place and watch for watcher."

Bucko believes looking for a cloaked person is dumb because of course they drop the cloak and look like everyone else...

"Sounds good. Let's continue on to my Chapterhood Temple and see if we get any useful information there." Isaac says, still keeping a watchful eye.

Brokk nods his head and agrees with Isaac.  "They know who we are, whoever they are.  Keep an eye on rooftops and be prepared for trouble quickly!  Lead on Isaac."

Brokk will follow Isaac to his temple.

Bucko laughs a little
"Keeps eyes opens wide, machines can lies still as is unalives,  could hides in piles, crates, anything...."

Clearly Bucko is more used to things that actually move and can be seen, rather than the other things, reminds him of traps, nasty things that do not breath and are hard to find...

"Standing here means nothing.  Let us go forward, and if something is above us, they will find us.  And if not, we will see something.  So?"

So saying, the plucky cleric moved forward, not caring if anything lept on them or jumped on them.  Her sword was ready.  And so was her gumption.  And she stayed near Bucko, because he actually supported her.

With the group gathered together they decided to stick to the main roads. Though it will take longer, its safer. Well they think its safer. They travel towards the temple in the distance but the road seems to give out! Two people fall into the darkness! One hole appears barely missing the group. Another hole slowly appears near the entrance to a small pub!

Kisaiya, with her sword ready, is prepared for almost anything... but a pitfall.  Still, she is still ready.

She will cast, depending on if she is one of the two falling.  Shield Other.  Otherwise, she will use her low light vision to see where they fell.

Bucko scans the area looking for a magic user who would be able to do such things as create holes....

"Mage has hand upon us, does anyon sees him?"

Isaac sees the people fall and holes appear, and he rushes over to where the people vanished. Once there he looks into the hole for the victims, and then back up and around the area, looking for someone who cast this spell and is still looking their way. If he fails to catch sight of the caster, he will try to aid the people who fell in. "He must be able to see this place to cast the spell!"

Brokk looks around in as many directions as he can and focuses on what Bucko says and he draws his composite bow, nocking an arrow, not drawing it back.  "Not a big fan of mage's either Bucko.  Call out anything that looks lie it's gunna hurt us."

22:16, Today: Brokk Grunk rolled 29 using 1d20+10.  Perception Check.

There seem to be no sign of the caster as the cleric waits. Both the rogue and paladin look around not seeing anything besides the mass histeria looming around with people freaking out and trying to get into buildings. As they look down they seems surprised as they can see some sort of creature gnawing and whipping around a tenticle. Shrapnel from where they are standing corrode as they step back. Everyone that went through seem to fall into the darkness and land in the sewer being sweeped away from the current. Some are hit by the creature! Their has to be at least two of them or more as the ground begins to shake beneath them. They can easily avoid it by moving away from it!

Brokk will move away from the area while retaining the grip on his bow and arrow in case he's attacked.  "What the hell is going on here?"

Bucko sees the creature, thinking it maybe normal for the sewer system he  continues to try to find a cause of  the holes...

"This is Confusing!!!!"

Studying the depth of the hole, Isaac tries to estimate the risk of jumping down to attack the squid-like creatures. He is especially concerned with the victims who feel in and were swept away, as the creatures seem to have a different purpose. "Is this some kind of summoned beast, goaded into attacking the city? We should engage it!" He says, pulling out and readying his longbow.

Kisaiya took several steps back to, then looked at Issac.  "I am fine with engaging.  But... it will be dangerous.  And my spells from my Goddess are less deadly and more of the healing variety.  But I can shield another, and create a spiritual weapon.  Perhaps that is enough?  I want no others to die."

She looked down, sheathing her sword as she prepared to jump.

Bucko prepares to fire on the monster....

DM: are we in point blank range?

When the cleric gets ready to jump, the ground beneath her gives slightly then collapses! About 20' down is some sort of creature. It hisses and swings up and connects, as the ground again starts to shake! As the cleric seems to be in danger, a floating disk slides beneath her giving her more leverage and makes it so she can get back onto equal footing! Xander emerges! "I'm really not so good with bows, but I doubt it's safe to get into the pit directly. If we could coax it out, I'd be better able to fight it." Thinking hard, he pulls out a flask of oil as he increases distance.

Kisaiya gasped in surprise as the ground gave way.  Fortunately, she had her hand free, and the rising disc saved her.  "Goddess Bless You," she said to Xander, scrambling back and drawing her crossbow.

"Summoned creatures to eat the city!"

Bucko fires off a shot to see about scaring the creatures...

Looking at the creatures, Isaac tries to see if they are actually causing the feared metal decay or if they are truly constructs with no special ability. After that, he fires another arrow at one of them, still moving away. "I certainly don't want to have my armor destroyed by their tendrils, but if they aren't truly rust monsters, then I would prefer to engage in melee!"

The rogue, gunslinger and paladins attack all hit one of the rust monsters but it keeps standing!

The wizard goes back about 20' and cast Mage Armor!

They charge!

One goes after Brokk and hits his armor but the rogue makes the save!

One goes after Bucko and hits his armor as well but the gunslinger makes the save!

And the last goes after Isaac but his armor doesn't make it as it is barely able to stay on him!

Cursing as his question was answered in the worst possible way, Isaac forgoes his bow and pulls out his sword. Taking a mighty swing at the creature, he tries to avoid the tendrils from destroying the remnants of his armor. "That's going to cost a lot to replace!" He focuses a bit as he attacks, wanting to know if these creatures are a product of evil

Kisaiya backs up thirty feet, then raises her hands, calling on her goddess.  A shimmering Glaive appears in front of her, and she directs it to the nearest monster.  It swings, striking at the beast, as if she had arms that were dozens of meters long, holding it.  The weapon was her Goddess' choice, and it was glowed as it struck out.

Shrugging as his armor becomes rusted metal around his feet, Isaac steps up and swings again at the new attacker, feeling a lot lighter than he usually is. "I wonder if I can make armour out of YOU, fell beast!" he says. His strike misses, mostly due to his trying to keep his sword from contacting the metal-damaging tendrils and joining his armour on the ground.
