Re: DUNGEON 1: THE DERELICT SHIP GRAVEYARD

Evan:

Ok sorry,

12:09, Today: Evan rolled 5 using 1d6 with rolls of 5.  Ghost Warning Die.

(--On a 4 or 5, the GM chooses one thing from the following list:

ยท There is a person, some persons, a monster, or some monsters here! On a 6, you spot them first. On a 4 or 5, they spot you first. On a 3 or lower, they spot you first and will always attack!)

https://i.redd.it/tg3ka33twtb61.jpg

MINIBOSS: HAUNTED ARMOR

A suit of armor sees you, and attacks!

Well I mean technically it might as well count as an undead attack, because it's clear that what's animating the armor's pieces is that they're all chock-full of ghosts. But hey, either way, all the better to punch you with!

(MINIBOSSES: Like regular combat encounters but it takes two hits with Get Violent to take them out. They also do 2 Harm at a time. (No more than 3 Minibosses per dungeon.))

Re: DUNGEON 1: THE DERELICT SHIP GRAVEYARD

The haunted armor looks like it was going to offer no quarter as it rushes at the group, so Myra drew her rapier and fell into a dueling stance.

"Evan, use your magic to contain it!" she calls. "Downy and I will keep it busy until you're ready!"

Then, with a nod to their flying member, she pounced forward, slashing at the ghosts in the joints. "Nevermore!"

Get Violent:
16:45, Today: Myra rolled 6 using 3d6 ((1,1,4)).
Oof.

Seeing that the ghosts can move the armor far quicker than she can respond, Myra does the only thing she can think of -- she pulls the small bottle she got earlier, and quaffs its contents in one gulp!

Using the potion of Agility from earlier for an extra die: 16:47, Today: Myra rolled 4 using 1d6 ((4)).
Meh!

Calls down small lightning strikes about the armor to try and contain it as Myra asked.
The ability to grow and shrink rearranging itself was somewhat problematic but he surely tried.

The lightning does some damage, but the ghost-filled armor still manages to punch hard.

(10:43, Today: The GM rolled 2 using 1d3 with rolls of 2.  1 evan 2 myra 3 downytouch.

10:43, Today: The GM rolled 2 using 1d2 with rolls of 2.  1 damage, 2 trauma.

10:44, Today: The GM rolled 2 using 1d2 with rolls of 2.  1 agility 2 insightful.

Myra is traumatized and her Insightful stat is disabled!)

The armor punches Myra in the head. It's not so much that she's really closer to dying, but it rattles her (emotionally), hard.

(Myra, tell about another time you got punched or fell or otherwise hit your head or got hit in the head. This brings that past trauma back to you...)

Re: DUNGEON 1: THE DERELICT SHIP GRAVEYARD

Myra zigs when she should have zagged, and the armor's fist clips into the side of her head, knocking her flat against the ground. As her ears ring and her vision wavers, for a moment she finds herself confused about where she is and what's happened...

Spoiler text: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)
"I really must thank you again, James," Myra gushed as she slid from the saddle of her horse, Wellington. "I wasn't entirely sure where to find a group of adventurers to join -- and I never imagined that my Shallowbay cousins would have such connections!"

James climbed down from his own horse as he surveyed the makeshift camp in the middle of the forest. "Well, it's certainly not as fancy as all that you're used to," he chuckled, and gestured for an ill-kempt boy to lead the horses to join the others. "Now, are you certain ya made a clean getaway? The last thing we need is Uncle Chuck and Aunt Ellie tramplin' in on us with a round of mercenaries, you know."

Myra nodded, but her attention was firmly on the camp itself, as her eyes greedily drank in the sights of this new way of living. "No alarm was raised, no candle was lit," she affirmed. "I doubt they'll even notice my absence until the servants come to wake me for breakfast."

"Excellent," James said, and brought the heavy leather sap up against the back of Myra's head. She crumpled. "Clarissa sends her greetings, love," he said as he bound Myra's unresisting hands. "She wanted you'd be humiliated proper by bein' returned bound and gagged, but I'm thinkin' even better to sell ya onto one of the west-bound slaver ships. You wanted adventure, right? Guess you're on one now!"

Myra forces herself to her feet, unsteady and swaying, and her fingers tighten around the grip of her rapier.

"No," she breathes, clearly angry now. "Not this time!"

Evan will check on Myra which wasn't the best choice with the armor rampaging.
Downy helped attack the creature in the background.

16:22, Today: Evan rolled 6 using 3d6 with rolls of 2,1,3.  Get Violent.
Perhaps you should have rolled.

13:01, Today: The GM rolled 2 using 1d2 with rolls of 2.  1 damage, 2 trauma.

It is not Myra's day. Myra's Agility stat is disabled as her traumatic memories overwhelm her.)

The ghost armor senses that Myra is vulnerable, and it attacks her.

It does her no serious damage, but again, her trauma gets the better of her...

Oof, I say! OOF!

Myra's legs are knocked out from under her, and she slams down hard on her back. Her rapier clatters against the deck as she holds one arm out as a shield, and slowly scrabbles backward away from the armor.

"Go away!"

Why does the die roller hate me so?

Evan:

Evan's slash hits nothing, though, because at that moment, the armor falls apart, and the ghosts flee. The party's attacks were just enough to dissuade the ghosts from continuing to inhabit the armor.

However, Myra is doubly traumatized, and there's loot lying around everywhere.

Downytouch and Evan gather it all back up... but the silver candlestick and the black opal are nowhere to be found... they must have rolled away and fallen through some broken flooring somewhere...

(One can, of course, attempt to Loot The Room for new loot now. (Perhaps you'd like to apply that 4 to such an attempt...?))

OOC: Is that for both, or just one? And if just one, which one (and another roll would be good)?

Myra looks up at Evan, and manages a smile even though tears are streaming down her face.

"I don't even know how to get there," she says. "I don't know where it is." Sighing, she wipes her face on her sleeve, and looks at her rapier lying on the deck. "I left against my parents' wishes -- to find adventure and excitement. Now I wonder if they even remember me."

Myra looks up with a heartfelt smile.

"You really mean that, don't you?" she asks. After a second, she reaches out a hand. "Well, I'd hate to disappoint going forward, then -- help me up." Once she's on her feet, she takes a deep breath and closes her eyes; after a moment of centering, she picks up her rapier and sheathes it back on her hip. "Alright," she says, with newfound determination. "Let's finish this."

Myra finds a gold seal, used for making an impression on sealing wax for letters and so on-- it forms a fancy capital letter H.

(It's worth 2 Loot.)

Myra examines the seal before handing it over to Evan.

"I wonder who it's for -- what the 'H' stands for," she says. "Maybe it's from the former captain of this ship?" She pauses as she thinks back.

"This was the second time we've run into ghosts on this ship, as a matter of fact -- when we first boarded, that woman seemed to want to warn us of danger... which we then ran into! I wonder what the cultists have to do with the ghosts..." She ponders a bit more, but then points further into the ship. "Let's talk and walk?"

OOC: Move Forward:14:29, Today: Myra rolled 7 using 2d6 ((6,1)).

Oooh, does that mean we choose? What do you think we should get, Evan? I'm thinking either "a clue" or "something hidden" would be good choices...

It turns out that there's nothing of interest in the room ahead.

...Or is there? Myra notes a section of wall that seems new... like it was added later than the rest of the room...

Further investigation reveals that there's a hidden handle-- it looks like the section of wall can slide to the left. A hidden... chamber? hallway? closet? Other?

Further, Myra's sharp ears... detect whispering on the other side...?
