THE CITY OF VIERNA

The city of Vierna (technically) has six residential sections:

--the Rich Quarter: Where the richest citizens live. They call it "the Parkside Quarter."
--the Nice Quarter: Where the lower-upper class and the upper-middle class live. They call it "the Merchants' Quarter."
--the Work Quarter: Where the lower-middle class and the upper-lower class live. In polite society they call it "the Summer Quarter."
--the Poor Quarter: Where the lower-class lives. Polite society call it "The Autumn Quarter."
--the Bad Quarter: Where the worse-than-lower-class lives. Downright dangerous. Polite society call it "the Winter Quarter."

Then there's the Strange Quarter...

--the Strange Quarter (moves around, but is most often near the Bad Quarter): where a lot of magical people used to live... and some still do. Strange things happen there. Used to be called "the Witch Quarter," but no one in polite society calls it that...

Then there's the non-residential sections:

--the Shop Quarter (near the Nice Quarter): where most respectable merchants offer their wares.
--the Smoke Quarter (near the Work Quarter): the industrial quarter. The smoke from it covers the rooftops of the city on still days...
--the Green Quarter (near the Rich Quarter): big public park
--the Dock Quarter (near the Work Quarter): the docks, on the east side of the city.
--the Spear Quarter (near the Rich quarter): the city's barracks
--the Horse Quarter: (near the Spear Quarter): the stable area and stockyards.
--the Wall Quarter: the empty staging area that runs all around the city. An empty space of about 50 yards on the inside of the city's huge exterior wall, so that things like catapults can be moved around if need be. A good place to get mugged at night if you've got money and can't run fast (or if you LOOK like you've got money and LOOK like you can't run fast).

Then there's a couple of streets that are almost like little neighborhoods of their own:
--Temple Street (near the Shop Quarter): where all temples and shrines are found... (the officially-approved ones, anyway...)
--Play Street (near the Shop Quarter): theater district, bards, scribes

There are also:

--the old catacombs under the city, where rumor says at least a few undead still wait

THE CITY OF VIERNA

GANGS OF VIERNA:

--The Mots: A tween gang, with no humans, elves, dwarves nor halflings. Standing offer to let Jaffa switch and join them...
--Led by the goblin Graen.
--Also contains the tabaxi Sharrmm, who is not going to forget Anthielle anytime soon.

--The Painters: one of the worst teen gangs in the Poor Quarter (and therefore, older than The Mots).

--Annette: human, age 17, leader
--Jack: human, age 14
--Mary: human, age 14
--Anne: half-elf, equivalent age 15

--Big Julie's Gang (which may get an official name later) Known members so far:

--Big Julie, human (I guess??), 16-and-a-half, male, leader, likes to punch things
--Skull, human, 15, fidgety, male
--Smarty (who may get an official name later), human, 16, male
--Quiet (who may get an official name later), human, 15, wears all-black clothes (although some of them are gray from wear and age), male

--The Talons: Another teen gang. Led by Ral, a teen half-elf who actually knows a spell or two.

Other personages:

--Durgali Ironbelt: an old dwarf woman whose (ghost!) father wanted us to find the missing Ironbelt clan locket. She's a mage who lives in the Rich Quarter. She attuned the Tiny House for us.

--The Outraged Crone: Dinkar stole her cane. Wonder if we'll ever see her again...?
