1. It's somehow less depressing with an extra remove to an imaginary fantasy world?

2. It means there's hope for a cure for ghouls someday maybe?

3. Gives me more narrative freedom? I mean, if I put it in, say, Minnesota, or Miami, or heaven help us New York, everyone knows where everything is already (or used to be). This way, everything's new.

4. Magic is (oddly) more believable than science? I mean, how can RadAway just cure nigh-lethal radiation poisoning in seconds? How can a Stimpak fix you when you've taken a super-sledgehammer to the head and torso almost instantly? How can you explain glowing ghouls... like, at all? (One thing I notice playing Fallout 76 is I can kill a ghoul that almost kills me with radiation but once I kill it I can stand next to it for an hour if I want to and not take any more rads...)

5. It lets me add class perks (as such)...
