Background: Storyteller

Storyteller (+1 on Charming rolls dealing with anyone who has just heard one of your stories... +1 on Insightful rolls dealing with spirits and legends.)

NOTE: This Background is really only for Homo Sapiens humans or Woodlings.

You bear the mark of the emissaries- those crucial few who trade in stories and carry tidings across vast and perilous distances. Perhaps you were born with it, or gained it in a ceremony. Perhaps your tribe exiled you in disgrace; or perhaps the allure of unseen horizons and untold stories was simply too great to endure.

Travelling storytellers deliver tidings, twist rumors and rekindle ancient legends. They are exempt from the petty wars of tribes and clans. Strangers welcome your weary feet with
open arms, asking nothing in return but fables of those places they dare not go themselves. However, hospitality is quick to sour once the stories and food run scarce.

Only one thing is true of every kinless wanderer: They lead a lonely, dangerous life-- a life exiled from the tribe of their birth, never to know the warmth of home.

EQUIPMENT
Motley clothes, a staff (medium), a bright yet tattered cloak, a dewskin filled with a strange herbal brew, a purse of grasscakes, a purse of nettles and berries, a ley map with charcoal and a knob of tallow, 4 rushlights, and a solo piece game.

MNEMONIC COLLECTORS
Wanderers often carry reminders of the countless tales they encounter beyond the distant horizons. What does your most treasured story look like?

Reminder table (d6)

1. The petrified skull of a creature that childishly ignored warnings on the deadliness of winter.

2. A piece broken off a curious weapon, its epic history predating the Reign of Ice itself.

3. A small carving representing a dreaming spirit that bears tidings from beyond the Veil.

4. A black stone that fell from the Moon as she wept for her lost children.

5. A talisman gifted by a nearby tribe whose champion was killed by a still-looming threat.

6. The colossal handprint of a Zho’Krei who wandered Earth’s distant edges, where reality blurs into dreams.
