THREE TRIBES: Names and stuff
CULTURE
It is up to your group to decide if you all hail from the same clan or met while travelling far from home. In the former case, you should work with the GM and other players to envision what your home culture may be like. Three sample cultures are provided below.
GENDER
You may depict your character's gender however you wish. Your choice has no mechanical effects. In some tribes, gender may be completely meaningless. In others, gender may hold strong spiritual or, in rare cases, vocational implications. In such tribes, those who blur the boundaries that might constrain male and female often hold sacred positions.
The Dawn Clans of the Plains
“The encroaching Winter will not cow us from the lands of our ancestors. We will build our
cairns higher, grow our feasts sweeter and forge our tools sharper until the great Sun Spirit himself envies us. Then he will see that we among his children are worthy.”
The plains familiar to these dusky folk would feel oppressively alien to many cultures. Dotted with enticing plants, tempered beasts, and deep-rooted structures of unearthly stone;
the inhabitants see more of their own crafts reflected in such lands than of the Earth herself.
The honored few emissaries who roam these rippling plains carry the Sun’s booming authority and a secret, whispered fear-- that Dawnfolk rituals draw power not from the spirits but some deeper, more ancient entity far from home on this Earth.

“Within every cave. Beneath every canopy. Rushing through every ford. Countless tribes of
Earthen spirits have lived here far longer than we have, and will endure long after we are
forgotten. Honor a totem spirit, trust their part in the Great Cycle, and they will bless you with all the wisdom and strength of their kind.”
Dotting high mountain peaks and secluded gullies, sacred ley crossings are marked by the
majestic trees of the spirits. Tending to their blessed carvings are the midwitches,
unquestioned creatures who walk the line between Human and Other.
With flesh like icy peaks and eyes of barren stone, expectant valleyborn brave untold
horizons to birth beneath the tree of a trusted spirit. Such a journey is only the child’s first harrowing migration. Those rare few children who survive their 12th winter rightfully earn the title of Man, Woman or Sekhet- and don their guiding totem’s mask forever.

The Blood Clan of the Mists
“Blood is the living essence that flows through all things. Do not spill the blood of one you do not wish as eternal kin; whose story you do not want your children’s children to carry. Choose your path now, and know that every decision is equal. Embrace all you have made, but take none for granted.”
The scarlet gloom of the deepest forests hide many secrets. The fearsome Blood Clan are
one such enigma; their breath in perfect harmony with the swaying shadows that conceal
them. Every nomad’s body is a tool; a canvas adorned by the blood and bone of their kin.
The bravest among them hunt memories; every moment a morsel to feed the dreams of their
descendants. Sometimes they dream of their own ancestors. Other times, lives that joined
their ancestors in ritual. Ritual visits are a harrowing weight to bear-- for that is the way of the Ritual of Blood.
