GM BLUE:
Fighter: Your Forceful increases by 1.
--Tough: Any damage you take is reduced by 1.
--Fierce: You do one extra damage for every 4 you roll over the first one.

Actually, Tough doesn't work because PCs will seldom take more than 1 damage at a time, so I've changed it to:

--Armor: Any damage you take can be ignored if you want-- but doing so will damage your armor. Afterward, you'll have to find or buy more armor to use this benefit again.

Zero takers on the ad for this game so far.

Should I give it one more day and then give up and go with just us two players (and one co-GM) if there are no takers?

Re: OOC THREAD

Okay, we have our new person! Welcome Uagu, the Frog Order Mage!

Pick a froggy portrait, Uagu...

Okay so we have a Frog Mage and a Hapid Gladiator, and if no one objects I will add to this trio an Uglolla Spirit Shaman, for healing and stuff.

UNLESS we want to run 2 characters each? For a total party of 6?

If that's too insane, they'll just be a trio. Just offering the possibility.

Ooooookay.

SO. (Choose a portrait, Uagu.)

SO.

Me:

Harran the Wise, Wandering Uglolla Spirit Shaman:
• Forceful 1
• Agile 1
• Insightful 2 because of Uglolla cultural heritage
• Charming 2 because of Uglolla Spirit Shaman training

Heal: Roll Forceful+Insightful. Restore an amount of health equal to the number of 4s you rolled to an ally you can see.

Elemental Defense: Roll Insightful+Charming to unleash elemental energy of your choice. With one 4, you can block, trap, or push back up to 4 targets, if they are all in one direction from you, or you can just repel everyone/everything in a 10 foot radius around you (but that'll include allies near you too). With two 4s, this also does 1 damage to 1 target you choose. With three 4s, this also does 2 damage to 1 target you choose, or 1 damage to 2 targets you choose, and so on.

Hapid Gladiator:
• Forceful 2 Because of Gladiator training
• Agile 2 Because Hapid upbringing
• Insightful 1
• Charming 1

--The Dance. As long as Yorin isn't outnumbered, even if Yorin's highest roll in combat is 2, she still manages to improve her position. She gets to roll 1 extra d4 for her next combat roll against the same opponent (yes, even if that means she rolls more than 3).

--The Tricks: The first time Yorin takes damage in combat, she doesn't. Although her opponent could've sworn they hit her, it was just a trick-- they narrowly missed her. This ability cannot be used again until combat is over and a new combat situation arises.

Is this all okay with you, Yorin?

Uagu, Frog Order Mage:

Your Insightful increases by 1.

• Forceful 2 Because of Frog Monarchy military training
• Agile 1
• Insightful 2 because of Order Mage training
• Charming 1

Mage Armor: Roll Forceful+Insightful. For every 4 you roll, an invisible shield will block the next 2 points worth of damage. This will also protect people immediately behind you. You cannot cast this on anyone but yourself, and once you have a shield, you can't cast it again until it's used up. It only lasts about 5 minutes, even if it absorbs no damage.

Enhance: Roll Forceful+Insightful and pick a target (which could be you, yourself).
--If the highest result is 4: Your target rolls as if all their stats are 1 point higher (maximum of 4) for their next two rolls.
--If the highest result is 3: Your target rolls as if one of their stats (your pick after you roll to cast the spell) are 1 point higher (maximum of 4) for their next roll.
--If the highest result is 2: Your target rolls as if one of their stats (your pick after you roll to cast the spell) are 1 point higher (maximum of 4) for their next roll, but you can't cast this spell again until you've had at least an hour of rest.
--If the highest result is 1: The spell fails, and you take -1 on your next roll.

How does this sound to you, Uagu?

Looks good.

I do not see many options for frogs, luckily they have the Chrono Trigger guy.

Will we be doing a session 0?

No, I think by session 0 he might mean a thing where the three characters meet up.

I can do one if y'all want!

Furthermore, Uagu had a thought-- that his character was sent out from the Monarchy to try to find some escapees from the kingdom and bring them back... but other things might get in the way...

...and I was fine with that idea. Maybe Uagu has second thoughts about heading back. Or maybe the person he's pursuing is a criminal who murdered someone before they left//or that's why they left//or it was just in the process of escaping...?

Re: OOC THREAD

I'd like to do both. I think it'll be better if we have a good amount of backstory and we've got a good reason to know each other before we start playing.

I guess I'd like Uagu to have a few frogs on his list, I'd like to include one which was an apprentice of his, a colleague, or something along those lines. I'm very open to the reasons that the frogs chose to escape, and those reasons might not even be known to Uagau; it sounds like that order kind of just expects blind obedience.

Are there any current events which are happening around the world that are particularly interesting? Is everything peaceful? Is it common for people to travel? How are frogs viewed outside of the kingdom?

For the frog kingdom, how does the caste system make people view each other? Are lower pips considered lesser frogs? If so, how much lesser? Is social mobility possible, or do people stick with their castes?

How are frogs selected to join the Law Mages? What is their apprenticeship like? What does it mean to be sent out of the kingdom on a mission? Did Uagu have any particular mentors/teachers that were important to him?

No problem-- I will provide a list tomorrow. Three frogs? Four frogs?

Uagu:
Are there any current events which are happening around the world that are particularly interesting?

Not that most the common person is aware of...

Uagu:
Is everything peaceful?

Except for the usual constant problems between the Frog Monarchy, The Cage, and The Chessboard Village, yeah. But those aren't currently war-- just more like little skirmishes when small bands of fighters or raiders happen to run into each other.

Uagu:
Is it common for people to travel?

It happens every week-- but everyone knows it's a little dangerous, too. Bandits, thieves, beasts, the occasional monster.

Uagu:
How are frogs viewed outside of the kingdom?

Frogs who've LEFT the Monarchy are seen as decent people. Everyone feels a little sorry for them.

Frogs who still report back to the Monarchy are kind of seen as jerks-- like Russians during the Cold War. "It's not their fault, personally, but their masters would wipe us all off the map like ants if they could..."

Uagu:
For the frog kingdom, how does the caste system make people view each other? Are lower pips considered lesser frogs?

Yes, that's how I pictured it.

Uagu:
If so, how much lesser?

If you're a three-pip Frog, two-pip frogs are just a tiny little bit worse than you. Four-pip frogs, you look up to just a little. A TWO-rank difference in caste is a lot different. If you're a 3, 1s are definitely second-class citizens. Fives are seriously "the beautiful people."

Uagu:
Is social mobility possible, or do people stick with their castes?

Rarely. Only if someone gets a promotion based on surprising merit, like if an entertainer discovered late in life they had magical talent. But usually people discover that early on, so...

Uagu:
(1) How are frogs selected to join the Law Mages?
(2) What is their apprenticeship like?
(3) What does it mean to be sent out of the kingdom on a mission?
(4) Did Uagu have any particular mentors/teachers that were important to him?

1. Testing for talent is done when young.
2. I'll leave that up to you!
3. It means they either really, really trust you... or they're secretly testing you, and will take great pleasure in hunting you down and dragging you back if you fail the test try to defect permanently.
4. Sure-- if you like, I'll make up 1 or 2 for you. Just let me know.

Re: OOC THREAD

Yeah, I'm fine with this choice of stats for my character. Anyways, my character will probably be exploring around the world cause of her Hapid nature for always being the life of the party. But she has another motivation, she's trying to find her parents that have gone missing. And it's not just her, theirs been a string of missing Hapids happening across the continent, she wants to know why.

Also, the Monarchy may have some Cager sympathizers in their ranks trying to create chaos by freeing other people that see their views or just want to be free of the old Caste system. Might be a good alternative for an escape, and a reason why Frogs are making an escape.

Oh yeah, HAPIDS are the exception to travel. HAPIDS are always running all around everywhere exploring everyplace they've never been.

And I don't mean everyplace HAPIDS have never been-- I mean EACH Hapid is interested in exploring everyplace that that individual has never been before. Anywhere you go, there's probably at least one Hapid passing through...

Runaway 2: Engwun (male). Knight (soldier).
Runaway 3: Gligga (female). Rook (bard).

Mentor 1: Riglo (male), Bishop (Paladin of Noric).
Mentor 2: Esheg (female) Bishop (Law Mage).

I certainly do not mind.

Uagu:
Are order mages given a uniform, or are they able to wear armor?

I keep having to re-think things given the way HP and damage work.

My answer is:

EVERYONE will have access to this move:

--Armor: Any damage you take can be ignored if you want-- but doing so will damage your armor. Afterward, you'll have to find or buy more armor to use this benefit again.

And so, my answer is: Order Mages can wear armor if you want. (This has nothing to do with their Mage Armor magic.) (AND/OR, you can just wear a uniform instead. Up to you.)

This means I'd have to give Fighters a new starting ability... but since we're a Spirit Shaman, an Order Mage, and a Gladiator, I don't have to worry about it.
