THE RULES and stuff

The game:

--The game has 8 rounds.

--Each round will be announced by the GM.

--Each round, each player will write a submission.
----Each submission must be less than 275 words.
----Each round's entry will be sent to the GM via Private Message.

--When the "submissions" stage is done for each round, the GM will post them all.

--Then, each player will vote privately (anonymously, as far as the other players are concerned) for the best submission, by private messaging their votes to the GM. YOU CANNOT VOTE FOR YOUR OWN SUBMISSION.

--The GM gets to play too. Voting will be totally transparent (right after everyone's voted each time).

--Any proven plagiarism ("hey, you copied and pasted that from a back issue of Dragon magazine//some old module//some website (that isn't your own personal website//character)") will mean instant disqualification for that player.

THE EIGHT ROUNDS:

ROUND ONE: 1 CHARACTER: YOUNG.

--Each player will create a YOUNG adventurer character for a fantasy world. If human, they'll be about 18 (give or take a year). If not human, they'll be the equivalent of human 18 (give or take a human year).
--Description will include: name, background, species, class, non-class skills (3), alignment (evil alignments not allowed), motivation for adventuring, and stats. Stats will be the classic: STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIS, and CHR on a 3 to 18 range. You'll get 70 points to distribute among these 6 stats.
--You MAY also include, if you wish: relationship with a deity, a minor magic item, a hireling companion, a steed, a pet (any or all of these).
--The player submitting for this round must also describe what adventure the character is currently on.

--NOTE: The LAND or WORLD the character is in should also be named-- BECAUSE, if players wish, some characters may end up being IN THE SAME LAND and/or WORLD. This should be discussed in the OOC thread before Round 1 begins. For example, one might say "Okay so are any of these characters going to be existing in the same Land/World?"

The possible options are:
--1. No, each character will be in a totally different fantasy world.
--2. Each character will START OFF in a totally different fantasy LAND, but 2 or more Lands might turn out to be in different parts of the same fantasy WORLD.
--3. ALL characters will be in the same fantasy WORLD, but will start off in different LANDS.
--4. ALL characters will be in the same fantasy WORLD, and some may also start off in different parts of the same LAND.
--5. ALL characters will be in the same fantasy WORLD, and ALL will also start off in different parts of the same LAND.

It's possible for characters to meet in later rounds. This should be determined by discussion by whatever players are writing the characters for a given round in question.

ROUND TWO: PARTY (Young).
--Each player will take one of the adventurer characters from round 1-- but NOT the one THEY created. The player will then create a party for that character.
--The party will consist of the character from round 1, and 3 to 5 new characters. For each, list their name, species, class, alignment (evil alignments not allowed), and their motivation for adventuring.
--You MAY also include, if you wish, for each: relationship with a deity, a minor magic item, a pet (any or all of these).

ROUND THREE: NPC.
--Each player must create an NPC (any alignment allowed). The NPC will show up to help the party sometimes if good (or if they're a spare hireling), or to try to cause trouble for the party if they're evil, or who knows what if they're of neutral alignment.
--Be sure and mention the NPC's: name, species, background, alignment, and their motivation(s).
--You may also mention their class, if they have one (they very well might not).

ROUND FOUR: 1 CHARACTER: PRIME.
--Each player will take one of the adventurer characters from round 1-- but NOT the one THEY created. If human, they'll be about 28 now (give or take a few years). If not human, they'll be the equivalent of human 28 (give or take a few human years). Their stats from round 1 will be the same, except 2 more points can be added wherever one wishes.
--The player submitting for this round must describe what adventure the character is currently on.
--Also, the alignment must have changed (but not to anything evil), and the player must explain why.
--Also, you may include, if you wish, a new magic item (it can be somewhat powerful).

ROUND FIVE: PARTY.
--Each player will take one of the adventurer characters from round 4-- but NOT one of the ones they worked with in rounds 1 nor 4, but one they haven't worked with yet. The player will then write about the party of that character (for their Prime).
--The party will consist of the character's party from round 1. For each, write about one thing that's changed about them.
--You may also, if you wish, remove up to 2 party members (who aren't the "main" character). You may replace them with new party members, for whom you provide details as in Round 2. (The party may not drop below a minimum of 4, so if you remove 2 characters from a party of 4, you MUST replace both of them).

ROUND SIX: 1 CHARACTER: OLDER.
--Each player will take one of the adventurer characters from rounds 1 and 4-- but NOT one of the ones they've worked with already. If human, they'll be about 49 now (give or take a few years). If not human, they'll be the equivalent of human 49 (give or take a few human years). Their stats from round 4 will be the same, except that 1 more point can be added wherever one wishes-- but one 1 must also be lowered by 1 point, too, because the character has officially started Getting Too Old For This BS.
--The player submitting for this round must describe what adventure the character is currently on.
--Also, the alignment must have changed (but not to anything evil), and the player must explain why. (It can change back to what it started out as in Round One, if you want.)
--Also, you may include, if you wish, a new magic item (it can be quite powerful).

ROUND SEVEN: PARTY.
--Each player will take one of the adventurer characters that they haven't already worked with-- or, if they've worked with all of them already, one chosen randomly. The player will then write about the party of that character (for their Older phase).
--The party will consist of the character's party from round 5. For each, write about one thing that's changed about them since round 5.
--You may also, if you wish, remove up to 2 party members (who aren't the "main" character). You may replace them with new party members, for whom you provide details as in Rounds 2 and 4. (The party may not drop below a minimum of 4, so if you remove 2 characters from a party of 4, you MUST replace both of them).

ROUND EIGHT: ENDING.
--Each player will take a character that they haven't already worked with-- or, if they've worked with all of them already, one chosen randomly.
--Each player will submit an ending for that character. This is the only time they can be permanently killed off (they can die before this, but they must be resurrected somehow not-too-long afterward). If they die in a non-peaceful way, it must be successfully heroic. If they die in a peaceful way, it should not be sad nor overly tragic.

QUESTION: "Can things in later rounds reference things in earlier rounds?"
ANSWER: YES.

Voting will not be explained here, because it'll depend somewhat on how many players there are. (There need to be at least three, but there can be rather more than that. The game will be capped at 6 participants (which includes the GM).)

IN THE EVENT OF A TIE, the GM will break the tie UNLESS the tie involves himself, in which case what the hell, there'll be a tie, and the tied players will be said to have both achieved victory. This is also true of the final score:

The player with the most points at the end will be said to have won.
