All characters start with 5 health points.

All players and the GM should discuss beforehand what will happen if the players loses all their hp.

The two options are: they just fall unconscious, or they die.

If the entire party falls unconscious, then the PCs should get captured, probably to face interrogation (or some complicated mode of execution, like being fed to wild beasts) later, meaning the GM should give the PCs a chance to escape sooner or later.


Fight to stay conscious:
The GM may want to allow players to roll to fight to stay conscious/alive. For example, they might roll Scrap or Attune, and consult the following:
--4: the character can keep playing with "zero" hp, but if they get damaged again, they will immediately pass out or die.
--3: the character can keep playing with "zero" hp, but they can no longer fight nor run far. They mostly have to concentrate on finding cover nearby and to hope that things turn out well soon, because if they get damaged again, they will immediately pass out or die.
--2 or 1: the character passes out or dies.


Recovering HP:

--Mostly, characters recover health just by resting, at a rate of 1 HP restored for every 3 hours of restful sleep.

--Any character may attempt a Doctor roll for any character, including themselves, if they have five minutes with nothing bad going on. The highest result is how many HP are healed. They can try again to treat the character every 6 hours afterward. Add 1 if the character rolling and the target are both in a well-equipped medical lab. Subtract 1 if the character rolling and the target have no equipment or medication available whatsoever, and just have to jury-rig equipment (like tearing up fabric to use as bandages, or making a splint out of whatever's nearby).
