Eoghen's thread, Derilyn, and beyond...

Eoghen arrived on the military packet ship from Druckenwell, that being his last stop before showing up here. He felt like they had visited every place on this side of the universe.
He was sore from sleeping in whatever cramped seat he could find, day in and day out for the past... how long... twelve days? Fourteen? He checked his orders and the time stamps... nope, fifteen days of bouncing here and there. He needed to check his immaculate dress uniform which he was sure looked like he'd slept in it despite his efforts to protect the suit bag he had stored it in.
He dragged his gear off the ship and down to the gate, unsure of what he may find or who he should report to. Security checked his documents and security dongle, then directed him to a hall way which led to another security checkpoint. A quick replay of the last one, except that this time they also issued an update to his Orders.

From: 5B7 Fleet Forces Command.  Report to Lt. Commander Sallin, Briefing Room 403B, Deck D-37, 5-11-16 1130.  Service Dress Gray Uniform with Cover. End Orders Update

He checked his tablet, He had about 23hours before he needed to report. The Security Sergeant pointed him to the central shaft and told him what deck to input on the elevator.
He struggled out of the contraption into a small room with passage ways going in three directions.  A female looked at him and smiled, then pointed down one of the passage ways  Third portal  on the left is Junior Officers Bays. He nodded and thanked her, then half carried and half drug his gear to the portal  marked Junior Officers Bay. He opened the portal and went in, finding several LT JGs around a table chatting... they all looked at him and one said Which department you joining?
He replied Pilots, Tie Fighters
The fellow shook his head You will be sorry, there is no glory out here, just ass chewings. Your bays are this first aisle, any empty cubby is yours. Necessary and showers are at the other end of your aisle. Across the passageway and two portals down to the left is the ships exchange, they can get your uniform straightened out for you for a couple of credits, but check back with them well before you need it, as they can foul things up.
Thanks for the information, I'll get on it.
He found an empty cubicle and unpacked, hanging his dress uniform up so some of the wrinkles might fall out. He located a mess area, the exchange and got his stuff squared away, then hit the rack for eight hours of shut eye, before his appointment with Lt Cdr Sallin.

Having reported and been told how things work here, Eoghen heads back to the Bay with a cup of coffee to see who is there and to introduce himself.

DSDP is huge; and busy 24/7/365 - there's always folks about, from all kinds of imperial regions, and ships, and service branches.  Troopers for deployment on any of the planets in the Elrood sector, Navy men (gender neutral 'men' there, it's the Empire after all) of all specialties, some ISB folks, of course, which most seem to give a wide berth to, and plenty of the Imperial Diplomatic Corps as well...
