The search for any RM, MERP - or even VsD - was a long one.
Haven't seen any and cannot find the time to set one up myself

I have considered running MERP and will think about it some more.  Perhaps using RM2, I discovered making characters here that I don't like RMSS enough to bother with it.

Okay, IF we proceed with another game, 1) MERP or RM2?  2) Third age between Hobbit and LotR okay?

1) RM2 for me 9but I'd roll over to MERp if it were that or nothing. Main difference that I like is the possibility to improce stats on level up.

I don't have any MERP Material (except for Thieves of Tharbad).
Played quite some TOR around Lonely Mountain after Hobbit, though, so happy with the setting.
I often wonder whether it is mainly nostalgia or whether I truly like RM. I can only say for sure that the 'make everything easier' approach of recent games is not exactly my taste. Then again, playability is important.
I think the biggest "pain" with RM2 is to declare which of the plethora of companions, optional rules to use and naturally Middle-Earth kind of limits half of the possible professions due to its non-magic nature.

Yes, with the caveat that even MERP has several magic using professions, even what one would call semi-spell casters.  If I were to do it in RM2 though I would certainly limit to what I'm comfortable using/knowing.  My general leaning towards MERP is that it provides the cultural backgrounds nicely.

Several low effort possibilities come to mind:
1) Use the char generated here and use RMSS
2) Use RM2 and translate the char from here into it
3) Use RM2 with the restrictions laid out here
4) Use MERP but graft in the RM2 mechanism for stat increase possibility at level ups. (I always found that super exciting although it rarely happened in practice).

All such restrictions need to be applied to all NPC's as well.

Okay, I hope this game eventually continues but am not holding out much hope.  In the menatime, if anyone is interested, come and take a look: link to another game

You can make the closest approximation, but the system is substantially different.
