Question: do all have the Alien RPG book (the Core rules book)--just so I can see how much info' needs posting etc.

Yes, I have the Core book. I also possess the Colonial Marines book, but no other.

Core Book is fine! (no Prehistoric Colonial Marines... that I know of! xD).

It is on Earth, "our" good old Earth (emphasis on 'old'?).
In the South-East part of France (I went with that, because I live in France, so I know a bit more about that region than others & because there are several important prehistoric sites around there).
Time-wise, I will give some OOC information later on, but though I said 40,000 years ago, it would probably be closer to a bit over 30,000 years ago (32,000 or so).
Which, I believe, is the Aurignacian period.

re. the climate & such--you will see what a scientist I am, when I answer: "Hey, it is Spring time, so the weather is nice!".
I/we can look into that a bit, though...

I do not have the core book but I can get it
I do not want you to spend $ you do not have or that is needed elsewhere--but if you were thinking of getting it etc., it is easier you have a .pdf of the book.

I am fine posting information here, just that if the players have the book, then you can look more things up, and I do not need to post pages of rules etc.
