Packing their belongings, the wounded man, and the body of their slain companion, the party departed Hollin heading South and East making for the Gap of Rohan through Dunland.  The northern regions of this land, along the Southwestern foothills of the Misty Mountains are quite pleasant, green and largely uninhabited.  The men of this land are herders, keeping their flocks in the southern pastures, close to the River Isen.  It is ten days to the Gap of Rohan and the Western-most part of the Westfold.  Fengel* is King in Rohan at this time and there is peace (if uneasy) between the Dunlendings and Rohan.  It is not difficult to find a settlement of Rohirrim, though it is likely to appear semi-permanent village since the Rohirrim have few settlements.

Here in the Gap of Rohan the Great West Road runs into Rohan from West Gondor here and runs along the north of the White Mountains to Edoras, passing by the Westfold Dale and Helm's Deep.  Rûniel walks along with the others, usually keeping her hood up to either hide her features or ward off the sun.  At night she wanders near the camp, sometimes singing softly to herself.
