New GM, who dis?

Hello! As 'Fate' I will be introducing a few new rules and Ideas I want to bounce off people's heads. If anyone has any major objections I will be willing to hear them out.

1-I am planning to have downtime. As the major threat of the Professor's troops are now, for the most part, at an end-people can just live for a week or so on the Nancy Foster and try to recover. I want all major injuries healed by the time that happens, so I will need a full report of people's critical injuries. I think there is only Alex's throat, correct?

2-I still want some deeply departed write ups for the PCs who have passed on. I will give that option to the players who are making new characters/taking over NPCs first, and then offer that option to the remaining PCs after that.

3-Anyone who has lost a character will get full xp transfer to their new character/NPC takeover. New Characters should have a backstory harrowing enough to survive all this time. They will be assumed to have found the Nancy Foster and its crew and join during the week+ of downtime.

4-Juan will be mostly an NPC. Don't worry, there will be plenty of projects to keep him busy-including the making of metal armor for the other PCs! I had planned to do so as a PC, and there are plenty of mechanical issues Juan can help Max work on.

5-NPCs will still be controlled by whichever PC 'brought' them. If you do not have an NPC, I would ask that you 'adopt' one for general use. I will give you control of that NPC-UNLESS you have the wallflower talent! From time to time, I will take 'possession' of an NPC in order to do something plot oriented with that NPC. I will run it by you the player first, explaining what I want to happen with some limits on said knowledge. In effect, letting you play out the NPCs actions from there.

6-Major combat changes! I will update the rules thread with said alterations. These will not be written in stone, but I have noticed when it comes to guns-there is a major rise in lethality. The game will still be dangerous, but the PCs should be able to endure a gunfight or two without losing someone.

7-Best news of all, Fate(OG version) should be coming back as a player! As Jacques or somebody else! I do want everyone on the same footing, so Jacques will get some xp to allow him to have equal footing with the rest of the group. Your Xp for this session will be posted in the normal thread.

8-I am not going to be making IC posts as of yet, but I should be ready to move on tomorrow or the next day. I will do an update in the status thread before I do so listing current events.

Awesome news, thanks! I have a couple of points:

1) does Sean need to roll Medicine to assist Alex's wounds? Or can the week downtime equal to the recovery?

2) If anyone wants to play Andy or Devon, feel free to claim them as characters. Just let me know.

The reason I am assuming Alex gets better is because of the medical lab and Sean and anyone else with a high medical skill. (Roll the highest score, and every PC helper adds +1 max of 3.) No roll needed in this case, but in the future rolls will be required.

Edit-there is also one 'unofficial' rule...THE DOG LIVES!

I don't care if someone nukes the entire area, Chase will bound out, immune to shockwaves and radiation looking for snacks and pets!

Because he's the best boy ever! Yes he is!

When reaching 3 health(Broken), critical injuries are not rolled right away. A PC victim can roll endure(Or just strength) to 'hold off' a critical injury roll. They are still broken however. This roll will be at a cumulative -1 for each round they hold off the critical injury. If first aid can be provided BEFORE this happens, the person in question gets to roll twice on the critical injury table and take the better result. The 'Nine lives' talent will apply to both rolls!

Does the 'Nine Lives' talent apply to all critical injury rolls, or only after receiving first aid?

Nine lives applies to all crit injuries(But not walker attacks-you need a different talent for that). If you are broken and have the nine lives talent, and someone does first aid on you, you get the benefit of rolling twice on the crit injury table AND being able to decide which order the dice are rolled for both!

All sounds good. I'm excited to try the new combat rules. Not that I disliked the old ones, but they were like the Harkonnens: brutal (said in a Josh Brolinesque drawl).

And it will be nice to have Fate as a PC. Welcome to the madness ;)

@New Fate: Do you want new characters on top of old characters (re-use existing sheets), or will we be getting new character sheets?

And this means I will be running Adria once more, I assume? Maybe she can find happiness with a new guy... at least the romantic in me hopes so. (A quick plea: Can someone please remind me, who the unclaimed NPCs who didn't get stats were? I haven't been keeping notes, I'm afraid.)
