Will wait till the group reacts to what just happened, and see what they do in general, before seeing where to bring in Juan Vidalgo (Tyrone's "replacement), Jacques Chartier (a PC the GM - me - created, in order to test the solo TWD rules ; if we can, at some point, no rush, have that PC team up with 1 or 2 others, on a run or something, and check out the 'oracles' etc. to manage solo adventures) ; and  Bohdi's character.

Info' on Character Death in the book (could not locate again where that was covered!):
link to a message in this game

(I have long been thinking about whether/how to manage people arriving later in the game having PCs that lag behind XP-wise forever ; and now there is the question of people dying starting - by the rules - totally from scratch... so I will see what to do - if anything - about that: extra XP for a while, a % of XP, some kind of "Raising an Heir" thingie as in TOR...).

Bonus XP would be nice for new characters. A chance to catch up over time.

That would be interesting. I was wondering about the solo rules myself.

In reply to Matt Carter (msg # 182):

I will see what to do. Still thinking it over...

One of the ideas of the rules having players who must re-start a new character not get any XP--unless they take over an NPC that is trained/master etc., must be aimed to reward PCs for training the NPCs.

In reply to Fate (msg # 184):

I would point out that evey NPC converted to a PC gets at least 3 advances(1 expert, 1 trained skill). Juan only has 3 advances, same as Ty.

Re: OOC-General Chat

• the advances are all in skill points, not in Talents
• you get one point per trained skill, and two points per expert skill—which can total 0, or 1/2 dozen…

Re: OOC-General Chat

re. XP:

• we will see what we do if/when any take over an NPC as their new PC (easy to adapt the bonus anyhow) ;

• in the meantime I will change the game-book rules and put in a couple house rules for XP:
- for all players (new people, or ones who missed some sessions, or got less XP), I will give double XP until they 'catch up' to the highest XP character
- for players recreating a character, I will give them the XP their old character had at creation, but no new XP until they acquire this XP they start the new character with (but give them double XP acquired until they do so)--then, they will 'catch up' at double XP to the highest XP character

I will see how this works, and maybe change things if needed.
It helps newcomers not be always "behind", lets rerolled PCs start like the previous ones were XP-wise while still having a temporary hindrance...

Right now this means:
• John & Alex get 1 XP to be at the level of Sean, Gabriella & Jonesy
: 31 XP
• Matt goes from 8 to 16 XP
• Deborah goes from 3 to 6 XP
• Juan is at 0/ 31 XP. He will need to acquire 31 XP at Double XP to get up to a level where he can start spending new XP again (that will also be gained at Double at first).

NOTE:
@Jonesy: I believe you still have 11 XP in bank, and can spend 10 on something
@Matt: with 16 XP you can spend 10 on a Talent or increasing a Skill (to 5 max) - Abilities cannot be raised.

Correct! How about I use some XP to add Suppressive Fire one of the Soldier's Talents?

SUPPRESSIVE FIRE: You can attack up to three enemies with the same attack when you use
Ranged Combat, but they all take one less point of damage and you can’t add damage from
extra successes.      You were trained to be a soldier

Re: OOC-General Chat

@Jonesy:

• Okay, noted for Suppressive Fire.

SUPPRESSIVE FIRE: You can attack up to three enemies with the same attack when you use Ranged Combat--so 1 Success hits up to 3 targets.
--but they all take one less point of damage--so you need a weapon that has 2 Damage, since that is reduced to 1 (whereas a 1 Damage weapon would reduce to 0).
And the best is to get your hands on a heavy machine gun (Damage 3, so 2 dam' to each).
and you can’t add damage from extra successes.

• Noted for Gabriella be his new PC anchor.
