I put some first Character Creation info up in the relevant pinned thread.
It is a classic Free League process.

Archetype - is your Class, Career, Job... giving Key Attribute & Skills, which Talents to choose etc.
Issue - is your Mindset, Problem, Main Characterization... and it can be changed as the game evolves.
Drive - is what keeps you going, your Goal, your Fear... It can change during the game.
Anchors - are are people who are important to you (NPCs in the group of Survivors) and that can help you reduce your Stress when you interact with them

Since the first players are starting (a group of 6), I thought it might be interesting to see about getting a second group going? (thus no access to the maps & discussion of the first group--for now)

Hope we get some more players so we can meet up with you all. And I'm more of a dog person then a cat :)

In general, in my mind, when I give information like that, openly, that information will be shared, by default, without having to say so.
If there is something I imagine might not be shared I would specifiy this or send it privately.
Of course, if a player states their PC does not share something, then we go with that.

If anyone prefers to get all their knowledge secretly and then decide themselves what to share, that is fine, just tell me your preference.

I'm good with all the open info being shared. Saves on posting where all we do is repeat stuff the GM has just posted. In this case, Cody absolutely would have shared what he saw and offered the binoculars for everyone else to get a look if they wanted to see...

I figured as much, but always good to be sure!
