  • Arkansas looks the same as when Umbra met him a decade ago. The crotchety, stinky dwarf makes frequent treks into the Plastic Jungle and other times sneaks around the English Hill and Cottage Lake slums.
  • Zipper [ C2/L3 ] Ork gang member, Crimson Crush
  • Umbra's older half brother, Zipper isn't much for family get togethers and such. He is loyal enough though and has helped Umbra out in the past. Truth be known he keeps in touch with Umbra as much as the benefits to him as well as those to Umbra. In the end, it serves both the orks well enough.
  • Hatter [ C2/L4 ] Troll Former-Street Sam
  • Hatter lives in Redmond northeast of the Touristville. Some time in the past, he was probably as shadowrunner, at least by his ware he had to have been. These days he's a little off in the head (ergo: Mad Hatter) and during delusional periods makes conversational references to Alive in Wonderland and various other children stories, fitting context as only he could hope to understand. He wanders about keeping to an area no more than a dozen blocks in any direction. He gets very agitated quickly with rude, bad-mannered people to the point of violence. To those who don't ruffle his feathers, he is a gentle giant. In his periods of lucidity, he can be quite the conversationalist and local residents find him to be well meaning and have 'adopted' him, insuring he is fed.
  • KE Sgt Nelson [ C3/L3] Knight Errant Sergeant
  • While Umbra was recovering from the incident with the insect hive, Sgt Nelson was assigned as a liaison to watch over Umbra. The grizzled sergeant grew a soft spot for the little ork and was instrumental in getting the troll arm to replace the one Umbra lost in the battle. In the time since, he has taken an interest to insure that Umbra doesn't get caught up in the meta-human prejudice that is so prevalent in the Barrens.

A weretiger

Not particularly awesome at anything (except perception) but quite a lot of fun to play. Her bunch of Yakuza are 'traditional old school'. That means they run a protection racket, but they actually provide protection for it. They keep their part of the streets clear of other types of crime than the ones they do.

Description: Ludovic, or Ludo for short, is a small man who has a clear bookish air about him. With a physical manner that would be more at home in a college, he is an unlikely friend on the battlefield who has proven himself a godsend when you have a bullet in you. His aura flares like wildfire and the old school doctor's bag he carries has saved more than one life even if a red cross is a clear 'shoot this guy' sign.

Notes: Ludovic is a major in Phantomology, or Occult Biology. He blends a firm medical practice with healing magic for his day-to-day funding but his passion is the study of S.S.E or Spontaneous Spike Expression. He has even published a paper on the study of a theoretical means to cause Spike Expression in someone who is otherwise a common human. All this points down to a single subject of study, the creation of a Drake and the means they have to transform from human to this false dragon form. He has firm theories, but future research requires a lot of coin.

--Always wanted to try my hand at a mage who was trying to turn himself into a Drake. Would likely never happen but oh what a fun character to play.

Well, who knows what was in the drug Dunkelzhan's will paid people to administer.  Adversaries of his made sure it could never happen, but maybe there would've been a ton of drakes after the associated comet.  Who knows?  Maybe Ludovic could track down remaining samples and reverse-engineer the magical effects.


Anyway, a character idea I've tried to play a few times, only to have games die out from under me.  (Always a sad day when that happens.)

His basic concept began as a joke, but then grew into something that's a lot of fun IMO, and it all starts with backstory, as any good character should.  A few months before start of play, (or long ago if starting at prime runner or such) he was on a supposed milk run that went very very wrong.  His first team was screwed over by Mr. Johnson, as happens so often.

On the run from Knight Errant, separated from his team, he took a risk by jumping into a limo and laying on the floor, offering his sidearm butt-first to a startlingly attractive young lady seated within.  "Hide me!  Please!"

"Drive."  She ordered, accepting the weapon and keeping it trained on him while the limo began moving.  "You will owe me.  Or rather, you will owe my father.  He is not a man you refuse.  Understand?"

As it turns out, her father is the local mob boss.  The character?  Secretly a Drake.  Princess saves Dragon from Knight.  Now his Contacts list is largely filled with made men, and his rescuer is his girlfriend.  Her dad... may not approve of their relationship, but allows him to live.  For now.  If his baby girl ever gets hurt though?

Name, ethnicity, metatype, etc...  All those are flexible to fit with the local organized crime family for the starting city of whatever game he's in.  I've written him up as Japanese, Hispanic, Italian, Korean, etc...  The basic idea remains the same.
