OOC (out of character) chat

Since Quest for Dragonspire is an existing adventure, I really want the players to add their own flair with their backgrounds on the characters. Don't go too strong with the sheet. But do include some minor back story with your character submission (3-4 sentences).

This will be a long game that will include advancements for all the characters over time.

Already have two submissions so far. I think by the end of the night I might have all the submissions filled. If so I won't waste time. We can start this weekend and jump in.

I need to know by vote. Do you want the more crunchy armor/weapon rules where the damage is randomized. Armor reduces damage but also breaks or do you just want to keep the standard? I am fine with either way. One just adds more progression for armor and weapons in the game.

OOC (out of character) chat

I am catching up today. We have a total of 4 people. So I will post the start of the game today. The other person is part of my one of my other games. Hopefully we will get 5. I'd like to have a few more heroes in the adventure but for now 4 is fine by me.

Liche:

Do you mean we should put in in the biography? There is no place for HP in the character sheet.

Re: OOC (out of character) chat

Hello all!
Thanks for having me, Liche.
And happy to be playing alongside my fellow comrades...
See you soon in game.
Here is the info' I put up:

Spoiler text: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)
The Squire is a young skinny Goblin, short & scrawny as his folk are.
Barefoot, with ratty pants tied with a string, and a backpack under his cloak, he respectfully and carefully carries a big shield around, its crest a Black Chicken on green checkers.

Grah-Grubl was born to a family of poor sharecroppers working the estate of a noble family.
With more children than can be counted on fingers and toes, especially when you're missing a foot, the family could not feed all these oversized mouths.
Thus, their youngest was sent to work in the count's stables.
Later, Grah-Grubl was appointed to serve the youngest son of the count, becoming his squire, and forever going by that name only: the Squire.
As the young wannabe knight set out to accomplish great deeds, the Squire traveled with him, serving as Sire's cook, cleaner, palfrey, and shield bearer.
Since his master disappeared following yet another night of drinking and gambling, the Squire has frantically been seeking to find Sire...

Re: OOC (out of character) chat

Can I buy a couple of foothold traps that I can use against humans? How much do they cost? They are probably big enough so I will need to have them tied to the sides of my backpack? And what is the price of the traps that can be used against smaller animals?

In the "Items and equipment" section I see only "Prices are suggestions and represent an average cost", but you did not list any items. Maybe you could give us at least a few examples of the prices of available items?

Re: OOC (out of character) chat

The Squire is not buying anything, so, if the You also start with 10 Gold can be shared, I would be happy to donate those gold pieces to Raska for their purchases (or any one else who needs them).

Re: OOC (out of character) chat

So yes, equipment is a pretty long list. Do you want just a general list or would it be easier to just say I am looking for X, X, X how much does each cost?

Re: OOC (out of character) chat

I said what I am looking for specifically, other than that you can just give us 10-20 items from different groups so we could imagine how much is 10 gold, can we buy any luxury items or just some food with it.

Re: OOC (out of character) chat

Let me work that list and get together some simple items:

Traps are 1 gp a piece.
Food is supplied by the Baron.

Re: OOC (out of character) chat

I came up with a few more items:

A sturdy net, maybe a square with a side of three metres. Then some branches and leaves could be woven into it to hide a small tent or somebody could wear it to stay hidden, it could be used to make traps or catch fish.

A grappling hook, we already have some free rope with us.

Some small bells that can be tied to tripwires set around the campsite so we could hear someone coming.

A coil of string that can be used for those bells.

Some lockpicks might be useful if we will want to enter someone's house searching for clues.

Is there any encumberance system? Any maximum weight for us to carry? Since we have rucksacks and pouches, what is their size?

And just to be sure, are we starting with free weapons? There are weapon prices mentioned but I only see that we get 10 gold and an adventurer's kit for free.
Also how much does some leather or mail armour cost, or we have some free armour on us? Oberon has a plate armour, does he get it for free? How much a plate armour would cost?
