Skyfro:
I see in the Advancement thread that you're looking to tie advances to number of posts. I have a few questions about that, since it can skew how people play.
Would that include IC and OOC posts or just IC?
How are you going to count them, since RPOL doesn't make that distinction?
Is it just Total Posts/# of players and I'm overthinking it?
I tend to do shorter, more focused posts, but I know some people, especially those who can't post as frequently, do longer posts that may hit on several threads of activity. I think some clarity up front will keep anyone from feeling like they're at risk of falling behind because of their writing style (not that a disparity in advances is as bad as falling a level or more behind in D&D/PF).
So I am still up in the air with the advances. I am using it in another game and it works well for keeping interest up. I might nix it for this game in favor of controlled advancements. Probably will go with that.
But there would be no difference. The way I see it is if you contribute the game in any manner and keep posting that is the life blood of the game itself. Without that the game just simply dies. So while I have considered that as a rather bad thing I also keep track of who is posting a lot of garage in the chat and then just trying to level but at the same time 3k post is no small task. So you won't have people hitting that in even a year of play.
