Salonius nods after giving the rest of the perimeter of this place a look. "A good plan. Let's also remember the free room and board offered, which we should probably take advantage of. Speaking with Father Zentus should be able to wait until the morninng."

In reply to Salonius Spes (msg # 67):

Skyfro looks mildly annoyed.

"Or we could just talk to him since he was right outside when we came in. Food and sleep can wait until we know if urgent action is needed."

Mina speaks up. "Did not the Sheriff urge the Holy Man to return to his building of worship? Perhaps he is there."

She begins fidgeting in place again.

Chapter 2: A dish best served cold

Heading out of the crypt you find yourself back at the top of the stairs looking down into the tomb. From the middle of the grave yard you can see the lights are still on at the church from earlier today. You can make out any people inside but you can see torches are lit by the windows.

Salonius simply nods at Skyfro's recommendation and goes up. When he sees the light on in the church, he turns to Skyfro. "Is that where you were saying he would be? You know more about the situation." He is clearly open to whatever Skyfro recommends.

Scratching his head once more, Gerard leaves the crypt and takes a deep breath of fresh air. Turning towards the church with its lights on. With a pointing gesture, "You may know better, Salonius, but thats where I'd look for a holy man to be," and followed after Skyfro.

Walking up to the church, you don't bother to knock instead entering through the door where you can see the Priest and Sheriff talking up at the alter. When you enter the father rushes towards you with the sheriff in toe not far behind him.

"Oh dear friends. Tell us what you have discovered?" says the father. The sheriff stands next to the father and raises and eyebrow.

Chapter 2: A dish best served cold

Mina follows along behind the others. She goes out of her way to stay some distance behind the Holy Man, Salonius, so she can keep an eye on him.

Although visible relieved to leave the crypt and graveyard, she becomes nervous again as the group approaches the church.

As she reaches the threshold of the Holy Place, she hesitates. Sweat forms on her brow. She lifts her left foot up and gently tests the floor just past the threshold by tapping on it with the tip of her boot. She looks around hesitantly and then slowly puts the rest of her foot down. She pauses a moment, as if waiting to see if something is going to happen, before stepping the rest of the way inside and pausing again. As she stands there she looks around her and then down at her body.

She looks as if she is waiting for something to happen, but when several long seconds go by and nothing does, she mumbles to herself, "Did not catch fire. Good."

She cautiously steps further inside until she reaches the back of the group again. She leans on her spear, its butt pressed against the floor, with both hands on the haft near the joint where the metal blade is attached.

She fidgets as she listens to the conversation.

In reply to Zyphus (msg # 74):

Skyfro suppresses a chuckle at Mina's care in entry but quickly focuses on the two townsmen.

"Someone has defiled the tomb. Gerard saw signs of goblins and at least one human amongst them. They appear to have taken the body of Ezakien Tobyn, and left the others awakened by magics foul to prevent us from reaching his tomb."

The sheriff steps forward lifting his hands. "Whooo there. Let's quiet this talk. The goblins have already riled up the townsfolk enough to make them nervous. If they here they dug up our former priest, they might start to get spooked."

The priest looks at the group, "I don't suppose there's much more information we can gather from this."

The sheriff gives a look to the priest and then the group, "This needs to stay quiet until we can figure out the details of why the goblins setup this elaborate distraction and why they would want Ezakien Tobyn's bones or body. So many unanswered questions."

The priest looks at the group a bit embarrassed. "I would offer you housing but with the attack against the goblins, I am afraid there are a number of wounded within these walls. Do you have proper lodging for the night?"

Torlek leaned against a pew "thank you for the offer but perhaps you would aid us more by telling us all you know about the late and now missing priest" stated the gnome before turning to the sheriff

"Sir I understand your concern forcyourctown but I have just been attacked by the dead and I'm not in a very good mood so I suggest you also think on why someone would want the dead priest and also if you have had a run in with any human stranger in town or if a stranger has been mentioned to you or your men that was out of the ordinary.......otherwise I will start asking questions in town myself...." he added as a slightly veiled threat

Chapter 2: A dish best served cold

The priest looks surprised by the little gnome. "Father Tobyn was the last priest who was the religious leader of this town. He died in a fire a long time ago in a terrible accident. We lost him and his daughter that day in the fire. There isn't much to say about that, he doesn't have a very hidden past. The town library will have more information about him and his daughter."

The sheriff looks at the Gnome with a different expression but raises his hands in an effort to bring down the conversation, "Look little gnome. I understand you saved Sandpoint from a lot of pain today both with the goblins and whatever you ran into inside of that tomb. We appreciate your help. But as the father stated. I am not sure why someone would want Tobyn's remains. He was a typical priest with nothing to hide. A man of the cloth and one of the best as far as I am concerned. He cared about this city very much and was a great loss to Sandpoint. My actions were not ment to offend but soley as a way to keep this under wraps as long as possible. The town people will find out soon enough through word of mouth. Better to keep this to ourselves while we try to discover the true meaning behind these events."

In reply to Zyphus (msg # 79):

Skyfro addresses himself to the priest first. "We have been offered a roof and food by a grateful innkeeper, but I appreciate that you are thinking of us in that way."

He turns on the sheriff and fixes him with a considered stare. "I am a guest in your town and I do not wish to tell you how to do the job entrusted to you, but the goblins did not attack today by chance and so we must act as if anything they do is meant to be done soon, the people are already agitated and a little more bad news will not change that. If you wait until they are calm, it seems you will give your enemies time to do whatever ill they wish to do with the body and the people will eventually have to be agitated again. If we act quickly, we could recover the body before it is permanently defiled." He pauses, "Unless you can live with that, we should act quickly."

The sheriff turned to the half-orc. "No, I agree sitting back is not something we want to do. However, more time is need to look into these events. For now the night is long and I think everyone needs rest. I'll go to the guard and tell them to be on high alert around the city. I am also going to bring in a few of my people to look over the tomb itself make sure no one else bothers it. What I would ask of you, head to the library at dawn. Find out more information about our good priest, something in history has to give us insight to why this is happening."

Mina quietly listens as various members of the party speak with the Sheriff and Priest in the church.

As the conversation goes on, she leans on the spear like a walking staff and slowly wobbles in place. Her brow continues to sweat and she begins to look a bit peaked as the minutes go by.

Mina is anxious to leave the Holy Place and wastes little time in stepping back outside once the group is done speaking to the Priest and Sheriff.

Once everyone is back outside, she falls into her usual place at the back of the group and seems ready to take the Innkeeper's offer of free room and board.
