Chapter 2: A dish best served cold

As day turns into dusk you find fires being lit by candle light at most of the houses you past on your way to the cemetery. Luckily, it is right next to the cathedral(see map #2). At first glance the cemetery is unassuming and no one of course manning it at this hour. So walking into the gate is rather easy. Knowing what you know you stop at the main entrance deciding what to do next.

Chapter 2: A dish best served cold

Mina looks at Torlek and considers his words. She replies, "I will go to the cemetery."

When Gerard also addresses her, she looks up at him. While certainly not tall, she doesn't feel particularly small either and so is a bit off put by him referring to her as such. Or perhaps he means it in the sense of a child, but she likes that comparison even less. She replies, "There are always things to fear, Archer."

She walks with the others to the cemetery gate, but lets Skyfro and Salonius lead the way. She isn't particularly bothered by the dimming light as her eyes adapt well to the darkness, but she seems to grow more nervous the closer she gets to the cemetery. Once there, she waits quietly while the others decide what is worth investigating. A light sweat starts to form on her forehead and she begins fidgeting while the others deliberate.

In reply to Mina (msg # 2):

Skyfro stands at the gate to the cemetery and surveys the scene.

"I don't see anything moving and I'm not especially skilled at spotting the signs of past activity. Any of the rest of you a skilled hunter or tracker and want to take the lead on searching? I will watch for any possible danger whilst you do."

Salonius walks silently with the others. He shakes his head at Skyfro's inquiry. "I am not useful in that regard." He looks over at Torlek. "It is a fact that my god helps me be useful when it comes to undead, though, so I will be on the watch for any like that." He grins a mischievous grin.

Chapter 2: A dish best served cold

Mina huffs a thick bang of golden-red hair out of her eyes and grumbles something under her breath right after Salonius mentions undead.

Looking towards Skyfro, she says, "I suspect the Archer is good at spotting things. He would not be much of an archer if he were not." Of course, she leaves unsaid that she too is good at spotting things since she isn't keen on going into the graveyard and poking around...especially at night.

She puts the butt of her spear on the ground and rests against it like a walking staff.

In reply to Mina (msg # 5):

Skyfro hops up on the wall and takes a look around.

"The graveyard runs up against the outer wall of the town. Looks like plenty of cover for approaching the outside."

Mina:
"I suspect the Archer is good at spotting things. He would not be much of an archer if he were not."

With a slight smile, Gerard nodded. "Yes. I can follow a trail, and I to like think I see more than I don't... but this may be my first time looking through a graveyard!"

With a shrug, Gerard stepped forward and started examining the gate area of the cemetery. "Stay with me know. I'm not usually the one to be first in line to a fight." As he found something on the ground that led him further into the cemetery.

Chapter 2: A dish best served cold

After Gerard takes the lead and Skyfro follows behind him, Mina picks her spear up and holds it firmly out in front of her with both hands. Unlike normal, she has the speartip angled downward and her attention seems focused on the ground around her. She slowly creeps along after them through the graveyard.

She has a noticeable pale expression on her face. Each time she comes near a grave, she turns her spear towards it. It's as if she expects an undead fiend to reach its arm out of the grave, grab ahold of her leg, and drag her kicking and screaming down into the netherworld.

Salonius brings up the rear. He pulls out a mace and holds it in one hand, a shield in the other. He is watchful but confident as he follows...

Chapter 2: A dish best served cold

As you enter the graveyard Gerard notices that there are two men that you bump into The Priest from earlier and a sheriff of the town. Father Zentus sees you and waves you over. "These are the heroes I was talking about good sheriff."

The Sheriff tips his hat to the adventures. "Ah. I remember seeing you folk among the celebration before it turned into a blood bath. What brings you folks here at this late hour, most of the towns people are spooked enough that they won't even go outside much less come to a graveyard?"

In reply to Zyphus (msg # 11):

Skyfro looks at the Sheriff for a moment.

"The guards managed to capture one of the goblins and, when questioned about the usual coordinated nature of the attack, said that they had met someone in the graveyard. Didn't want to wait for overnight, so we came here straightaway."

Chapter 2: A dish best served cold

Mina stops a few feet off behind Gerard and Skyfro once they reach the two officials in the graveyard. She keeps a few paces away from Salonius and leaves the talking to Skyfro since it was his idea.

As she stands there, she holds her spear level and close to her body with both hands and nervously looks around at the nearby graves.

Chapter 2: A dish best served cold

Torlek kept up with the others even though his short legs took two steps to one of theirs. If he'd been on his own he'd have let the wind take him there but after the attack he felt there was safety in numbers.

When they bumped into the two villagers while entering the graveyard a thought crossed his mind why would these two be out at night and in the graveyard as well....surely the priest would be out tending his frightened flock and the sheriff arranging the night guard to protect the village from further attack.....he decided to keep his thoughts to himself until they had left but he studied them never the less

07:57, Today: Torlek rolled 5,4 using D8,d6, rerolling max ((5,4)).
