Introduction (because no one reads the introduction)

Welcome to the grim city of Shadowmoor, a place shrouded in darkness and ruled by the iron fisted control of Count Ravencroft. The once-vibrant city now lies under a perpetual gloom, its streets patrolled by the Count's enforcers, where whispers of rebellion are quickly stifled and dissent is met with swift and severe punishment.

Well you've done it. You did something that got you noticed by Ravencroft, a count on a mission. The man runs the Shadowmoor area with an iron fist and doesn't ask twice. He uses unfortunates such as yourself to do his dirty work. Turns out you don't need a lot of muscle when you have fellows like you getting caught.

Ravencroft family has been here for ages and while the family themselves are usually okay, this generation doesn't meet those standards. Ravencroft has a sister by the name of Madame Nightshade and a big brother Grimclaw. If their names don't make you think of something out of the darkness then meeting them face to face will.

Now the only way for you to get out of this deal with the Ravencroft's is to do his bidding. That's going to keep you between a rock and hard place. The old count doesn't have small tasks, he has dirty tasks that keep you in his debt. Right now you are hoping to get out but for now you are biding your time.

DarkHolm is a darker D&D game focused on a group of people who did something to the Ravencoft's. It takes place in a region called Shadowmoor. This isn't your typical four color fantasy story featuring typical heroes. In most cases you are some combination of either:
  • thief
  • highway man
  • heretic
  • outcast
  • mercenary
  • Scavenger

Or just anything else you can think of. Before you even make your character ask yourself this:

1. What did you do to the Ravencroft's to force them to enslave you?
2. What unique set of skills does your character have that they found important?

Once you have answered these, you can continue to create your typical 5th Edition Character creation using 5e rules.

DarkHolm isn't going to shy away from the Darker races so things like Drow, Draguar are most certainly welcome. Things like Goblins, Orcs, and what not are still forbidden so don't think you get to play as a psycho but you can play a darker character.

You can also follow being in the wrong place at the wrong time, maybe you are a character of justice and now you are having to act like a monster. How does that change you?

If you ever wanted to play a more dark D&D then this is the game for you. The area itself is filled with some pretty nasty things as you might expect. This gritty setting is going to force the players to make decisions they might not be ready for.

What you need to know:

Level: One

Races allowed: Basic all - Drow, Deep Gnome, Duergar, Shifter, Dhamphir, Hexblood,  Reborn. *NOTE: While some of these races are monsters, they are not full blown monster. Orcs, Goblins, Animorphs and what not will not be allowed. You are still in a pretty human like city and there aren't talking cats. Hope that clears up some of the confusion.

Class allowed: No homebrew, most of the basic classes are fine and sub classes ask if it's a subclass that might be one of the questionable intent.

What I need: Include book numbers for everything you do. I don't have the book it gets hard for me to manage. If you are so incline use something similar to: http://dnd5e.wikidot.com to refer to the rules.

What do I need give you to join? Start by answering the questions that got you where you are. Give me some motivation for your character.

Attributes: 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8
