Chapter 1A: The Crossroads

As Jack is heading off into the darkness. It's a matter of time before the sounds of the old team mates and their voices trail off. After a solid hour of walking, he notices a very small camp fire that is being intentional concealed by rock. Had you not been noticing where you were looking you would missed it. You venture off towards the road to the area that leads off and to the side of the road where is there is ditch and find two people what appears to be resting. You notice pretty quickly that these don't look like you typical road travels, they look very similar to your previous companions.

ooc: What do you want to do Jack?

[Private to Junto Hind: [Private to Jaysen Clove: Jaysen and Junto you were hired by the Count before the big group was hired. You are unaware that other people have been hired to track down this necromancer that is giving the count a lot of trouble. All you know is that you owe the Count and because of that you are going to have to put up with this request. Unlike the other group you travel thus far has been fairly standard. You stopped for the night to rest and catch up but you are unaware of any of the events that have taken place with the other group. You did pass a caravan of traders but you didn't spend much time dealing with them.

Roll perception and see if you notice Jack.

Chapter 1A: The Crossroads

OOC: I wouldn't mind a bit of a description, but they haven't posted any, yet. And you just told them I'm there, so stealth is kind of shot...

Jack steps out of the shadows, "Howdy, folks. You might want to be aware, there's a group behind me that is looking for a camping spot. They might decide to use yours when they see your fire. Most of them are fine, but the little one is flat out bonkers. In fact, if you smell smoke, run. it means she set the forest on fire, after all."

Chapter 1A: The Crossroads

Junto is sitting crosslegged by the fire eating a fresh roasted rabbit leg. He nibbles on the tasty meat and spits out a small bone. He's used to traveling in silence so he spends the time pondering his past, wondering what tipped off his plan to the Count's men. He catches himself chewing on the same piece of meat for too long and spits it out... "Oh well", he shrugs. "One employer is about as good as any other I suppose", he mutters to himself. He flips the edge of his cloak out of the way and leans forward to break off another piece of rabbit...

19:02, Today: Junto Hind rolled 22 using 1d20+3 ((19)).

OOC: They didn't know you were there. It would've been an opposed roll but I am fine with you coming out and talking to them. Speeds up the process.

Chapter 1A: The Crossroads

A man popped out of the night, causing Jaysen to flinch and grab his glaive. He was ready, but the man did not enter his reach and was talking with his hands visible. Jaysen relaxed as the speaker talked, saying a whole lot of unnecessary words. He pointed at himself, "Jaysen." and pointed at his companion, "Junto." He did not offer any of the meal, which was Junto's, Jaysen was eating hardtack.

Alliterative lot. Jack doesn't break the trend as he points to himself, "Jack."

Chapter 1A: The Crossroads

Jack shrugs, "Through the Shadowbark and over the Stormcrags to a wizard's tower. Ravencroft wants him tamed or killed, and he's proven untamable by all accounts. It's that or worry about Ravencroft every time I come out of the shadows. You have to love travel, it's so broadening. Besides, I think I know what's going on. I'm curious to see if I'm right."

Chapter 1A: The Crossroads

Junto noticing the man approaching and listening to the ensuing conversation, nods in agreement. He holds out the remaining bit of rabbit to Jack. "Welcome, friend, it seems theres quite the crew on this mission. Do you know if this is normal? I wonder if we won't have a whole army before we reach our destination!"

Chapter 1A: The Crossroads

Jack shakes his head at the offer of jackrabbit, "Thanks, but I never eat anything that shares my name. From what the Count said, we're probably the 3rd or 4th group to be sent, and there may have been even more before us. I assume the quantity of people sent has to do with the previous failures. More, however, is not always better. Especially when the wizard in question can use the bodies of the failures to make flesh golems to defend himself with."

Chapter 1A: The Crossroads

Junto shrugs, eating the last bit of the rabbit. "Well reasoned, and well met, Jack. As Jaysen mentioned, I'm Junto. Pleasure to meet you, I think we're going to get along just fine. Shall we make camp and break in the morning, or would you prefer we set off with haste?"

Chapter 1A: The Crossroads

Jack shrugs, "I'm not sure it matters, but I'd bank the fire down low. There are undead in this forest. Or were an hour ago. There may be more. No need to set a beacon out."

Chapter 1A: The Crossroads

OOC: Assuming you rest.

IC: The night into the morning leads to no surprises. At some point you do hear the footsteps of people are horses during the night but a quick look leads you to believe that is the other group that Jack had mentioned. You keep quiet while they pass and notice that they go the other direction from the direction you are going. The night passes pretty quietly other than that tense moment. You do not that like Jack has said, they are bringing a good bit of attention to themselves.

Chapter 1A: The Crossroads

Jaysen awoke, stretched, and did some quick exercises to warm up his muscles. He gathered his equipment and when he was ready he nodded to the other two. "I suppose we get going? do we follow your friends or forge our own path?"
