Greetings all!  Thorgrim Stonearm here.  Dwarven fighter.  Journeyman blacksmith working in Northport.

Hi! I'll be playing Raithan Zurrah, a human ranger. I'm still working on my character sheet and other details, but I should have that done soon.

Thanks for checking in here, everyone. Welcome! I see some of you have drafts of your character sheets completed and others are still working on them. If you haven't already done so, send me a private message when you want me to look over your sheet. If you have sent me a private message, I will try to get to it tonight or tomorrow.

I anticipate starting the story this weekend or early next week.

In the meantime, if you want your characters to know each other when the story begins, you can discuss the details here. It is not necessary for everyone to know each other, as I can find ways to pull everyone into the story, but it would be helpful for some of you to at least be acquainted with each other.

Thorgrim is a journeyman blacksmith in Northport.  I need to work with DM on specifics, but likely he is working with an established blacksmith (possibly a human who owns the shop) in the city.

I could see knowing Silmion from a business side of things.  The others from having visited the shop or maybe just a good scrum at the local tavern.

That'd work great with me. I put down that Silmion knew Dwarvish anyway because his human father was a banker by trade and would've worked with Dwarven guilds/bankers.

Anyone else originally from Northport or have an idea of when you came to the city? Silmion's never left, so that would limit the locale of where else he'd know people from.
We can always just be recent drinking buddies though. :P

I envisioned Arkanthis as being a relative newcomer to Northport.  Some of the fun of playing an outlander is leaning into the fish-out-of-water tropes.  I won't be obnoxious with it, but there will definitely be some barbarian-in-the-big-city moments.

With that said, I have no issues with the character being acquainted with any of the other PC's.

Clemency used to work with the thieves guild and might still have contact with them, if Silmion does any guild work. She also could have bumped into Arkanthis on the streets at some point.

Some unexpected events at home have prevented me from responding to your messages. I'm still planning on starting by early next week, though. I'll get to your messages as soon as I have time. Thanks for your patience.

No problem DM, hope everything goes well. There's been a bit of a winter storm for the past week at my place, and I know the constant extra work of shoveling has me feeling fatigued.

I like that type of character, Arkanthis. I can see a lot of fun just meeting her for the first time, so I'd be fine either way, knowing her briefly beforehand or not.

I can see Silmion knowing Clemency. He's thieves guild adjacent, he's more of a bounty hunter, so he might've clashed with some members of the thieves' guild before. However, he also does work for the mob and has participated in protection rackets or loan sharking, so I don't think he'd have an entirely adversarial relationship.
It's strange, I just saw a youtube video that explained how Rogues made the best non magical combat medics due to Expertise and tool proficiencies. IF you don't start with a magical class, it'd be fun to see your Rogue in action!

Raithan is a disillusioned former soldier who has recently settled in Northport. I could see him being acquainted with Thorgrim if he needed to purchase a new sword. And perhaps he might have done some sell-sword work for Silmion, if Silmion hires people to help collect debts. It wouldn't be something Raithan would be too eager to participate in, but he is practical and knows that he has to pay the bills somehow.

I'm fine with knowing Raithan. Silmion isn't always eager to participate in his own work, but he'd definitely hire Raithan when he knows he has to go after armed delinquents. There are legitimate criminals that he catches and that he'd need help with, but he has to pay the bills too with shadier stuff, so he'd respect when Raithan says no.

I decided not to have Raithan know Silmion or any of the others when we begin, though he does recognize Thorgrim from the smithy where he purchased a sword.

Sounds good.  Especially the fact you 'purchased' the sword :)

Silmion doesn't get a good read on the bartender. All he can tell is that the bartender is irritated with the group.

Maybe we need some Inspiration? :D

I'll see who else I can chat up for another try. Is there anyone that looks noteworthy?

Before I respond to Silmion's most recent post, I want to know what Thorgrim intends to do. It sounds like Raithan and Clemency are going to stick with Silmion and keep investigating tonight, but I'm not sure about Thorgrim. Let me know.

If there is a possible lead, Thorgrim will go with them.  If we hit a dead end, then he will go back to work and hope something develops in the next day or so.

It’s been two weeks with no updates.  I assume this one died.

It appears that way... I was waiting for Silmion or Clemency to post, but they haven't logged on in two weeks.

I'm sorry it turned out this way, and for not engaging earlier.
I definitely contributed to the game failing, but I was waiting for any engagement from Clemency or something else to propel the plot along. Especially with me failing all my rolls and everyone not really on the same page as to how we wanted to move the game forward, I just didn't know what else to contribute. I let apathy and my busy schedule take over and thought I'd just return to the game when Clemency or the DM had posted a response.
I should've probably spoken up in OOC about how I felt before this point.

Either way, I'm definitely not able to continue this game.
I apologize for the part I've played in the game dying out, but I still wish you all good luck and good games in the future.
