If I Archive a thread, is it forced to the very bottom of the thread list?

If not, is there any way *TO* force threads to the very bottom of the list, short of bumping every other thread?

achrive threads  are like mixing  Kool-Aid,..soner or later the powder sinks to the bottom of the glass.

 this  happens to  unusedn threads  as well.. the active threads push them down.

for my part? I know of no way to push them down.

As long as they aren't marked as Notice (which keeps them at the top), they will be sorted by last post. Since they will be locked to new posts, they will, as donsr said, eventually make their way to the bottom of the list...

Yeah, I knew that threads sort based on last post, but I was hoping that Archiving a thread (as opposed to just locking it) would force it down the list.

Otherwise, there doesn't seem to be much reason to opt for Archival versus just Closing threads, if you're still relying on time and activity to move them out of view.

Archiving -does- make all private lines visible, though, whereas Closing a thread doesn't, so there's -some- difference. I was just hoping there was some other difference between them to make Archiving beneficial, since the forced visibility of private lines is a pretty big detraction.

I always   just  click, 'close thread, force to achives"  and they work their  way  down.

I had a fried  who just deleted threads to get rid of them.. but that's nuts!, unless you're goign for , severally limited run games .

 i have, at this point 9 pages of threads, there i times i have to search out   back  posts to get  names and such, that i failed to  right  in my notebooks.

 so?  yeah.. no one can post on them once you close it, and they will 'sink' down the  pages.

That's the only difference really... they either reveal, or don't reveal, the private lines.  Two different options for closing a thread, depending on what you want.  Some GMs want the private lines visible, some don't.  So both are available.

the  very first one  i closed, one of my players  who was a GM  else  where , told me to close and force...i've been doing it ever  since.

To me, Archive would be for "publishing" the adventure when it is completed (i.e. - so the players/lurkers can read the whole story and see what happened from other points of view) while Closing gets the thread out of the way but maintains the players' own character perspective on the story...
