Celestia
Celestia comes from a race of genetically engineered soldier-slaves in service to the Empire. Her world, Leda III was a warmer world than Earth, full of deep jungles and vast deserts, and the Ledans are genetically engineered to be strong, tough and cunning... but obedient.The Ledans are a warrior people but rather than being dour and spartan, their culture revolves around embracing the wonder of life and expressing yourself, putting beauty out into the world. Beneath it is the understanding that this is done because any day might be your last. When you die, you want your loved ones to be able to celebrate all the beauty and wonder you knew in life and your intimacy with them, through all your joys and sorrows shared.
And their 'religion' such as it is, revolves around the veneration of individuals chosen from among them to serve as avatars of the virtues they hold most dear. The people of Leda III each give of themselves, in a mystical sense, so that their shamans can imbue these avatars with the powers and abilities relevant to their virtue.
Celestia was her people's avatar of Justice, a tough undertaking in a world of slaves.
And it turns out she was really good at it. She lead a revolt against the masters that was broken only when she and her fellow freedom fighters fled into space to prevent the Draogh from wiping out all life on the planet to stop the seeds of rebellion from spreading to other worlds they controlled. They engaged in piracy for many years after and harried the Draogh, though the Draogh ruled from their watery depths and it was near impossible to get to them with their vast psychic defenses.
In a pitched battle Leda III, Celestia's vessel was badly damaged and she was grievously wounded. She set the ship's hyperdrive to take her away from there, not knowing the navigation system was badly damaged, then put herself into one of the ship's stasis pods, to be retrieved and healed by her comrades. But when the ship dropped out of hyperspace, it was nowhere near its intended target, she'd arrived in the solar system. She was in stasis, so the ship's virtual intelligence brought itself into orbit around an unknown world and remained there for some time until it picked up on a signal from a lost Ledan vessel on Earth. On Earth, she met Crowe, who had no memory of who he was, though he had been living for hundreds of years. Together they stole a ship to return to Celestia's homeland. When she connected to the ship, she discovered that she had been in stasis for hundreds of years and it was likely all the people she knew and loved were long dead.
Now, she has managed to return home to see what became of the world she knew.
Traits:
- Avatar of Justice: She's the leader of the Ledans.
- Omni-Tool: It can project force or energy, has quantum energy so it is always powered and can be used to interact with technology... as the name implies, it can do all the stuff.
- Ledan Warrior: Genetically engineered supersoldier, designed for enhanced strength, speed, stamina and resistance to disease, toxins and radiation. She's also been trained since she could walk by the greatest war masters in the sector.
- Inventive tactician: She's accustomed to fighting from her back foot, using inventive, unexpected tactics to take on stronger and better equipped adversaries. This has developed in her a talent for thinking creatively and finding unexpected solutions to problems.
- Swashbuckling Space Pirate: All that pirate stuff, bold daring, roguish charisma, stylish and inventive fighting, stealing things. She seems to do a lot of stealing things.
- Wondrous. She's a beautiful space pirate freedom fighter, but she also possesses a joie de vivre and open wonder at the world around her and toward the people she loves that is hard not to be drawn to.
- Sneaky Bitch: Celestia is kind, happy and generous with the people she loves, but better not to forget that she was a pirate for a long time. She's sneaky and tricksy when she needs to be and can be a real bitch with people who get in her way.
