Queen Cobra

Evelyn Leighton aka Queen Cobra
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 148lbs
Age: 36
Eye: Slitted pupils in a poisonous green
Hair: Blue-black tapering to green

Once a respected individual in the field of toxicology, Evelyn Leighton fell into the orbit of a supervillain known as The Visionary after her proposals for controversial genetic research were shot down in flames, taking much of her standing with them. At her new mentor’s side she developed a course of treatment meant to imbue a human subject with immunity to a particular snake’s venom, but when it was administered to her it resulted in far more extensive alterations to mind and body both. Changed and vulnerable, she was easily shackled to her new allegiance. She became Queen Cobra and lent her knowledge and new-found power to The Visionary’s ambitions both in the laboratory and in the field.

As part of The Visionary’s cabal, their menagerie of agents and post-human villains, Evelyn committed herself to the betterment of humanity through science. She developed and refined an array of toxins and employed them in acts of theft and sabotage to further the cabal’s ambitions, but she also continue to delve into human biology and explore the potential for growth and change. She was no cruel butcher – she took no joy in bringing harm to others others – but her work would never grace the pages of any prestigious medical journal. What mattered was her master’s approval, and all the world’s scorn would mean nothing when it came begging for the hope promised by their discoveries.

For The Visionary had a vision of a darkness to come, a trial that would test humanity. The old world might fall in the face of it, but they would be ready. They had to be.

They weren’t.

[Queen Cobra, pre-collapse]                            [Evelyn Leighton, post-collapse]

Evelyn is a tall and hollow-cheeked woman made distinctive by her pale and waxy skin. Her flesh is marked by scattered patches of grey-green scales and criss-crossing striations that give her an unmistakable reptilian air, and though her shape and aspect is still human there’s a sharpness to the lines of her features that feels just a little bit off. Poisonous green eyes, slit-pupiled and cold, hardly help to warm one to her, nor the fact that her countenance is more prone to scowls than smiles. All-told her aura screams keep your distance – good advice when dealing with venomous creatures.

She favours a palette of blacks and greens with gold embellishments, her wardrobe leaning towards the former but her uniform making copious use of the latter two. While before the collapse she had a very particular tastes in fashion, practicality and pragmatism have gone a long way to erode her standards in the present day. Whatever works: sturdy and warm. Hoods are welcome too for at least a trace of anonymity should she chase it.
