Xavier life was different in his younger days until he challenged the leadership of his Pride. He and the small group that followed him believed new ways were needed to be adopted instead of adhering to old customs - he lost his challenge. He and his followers left the jungles of his homeland many years ago and after chance and circumstances, now live as Freebooters (he hates the word "Pirate") on a ship he calls Youalli Ehécatl in his tongue but known as Night Wind in the common tongue.

He has thought of returning to his homeland but he knows that his life now is on the sea and pushes those thoughts aside - it would take something very important for him to return. He considers his fellow Balam crew as his charges and family and will defend them and they him. His ship the Night Wind is a Galleon he acquired during a sea battle after his previous vessel was damaged beyond repair.
