Parson spent his youth as a military fighter pilot, after which he accepted a job with a large corporation to fly clandestine product (he never knew what it was and he never asked) into restricted or highly regulated areas.  At one point, however, his ship was attacked and forced down onto the frozen moon of a gas giant.  For two days, Parson managed to survive until the moon's hazards before coming upon a small mining community where he managed to hop a transport back into civilized society.  However, his company terminated there working relationship and then attempted to terminate him.  Parson now hires himself out as a pilot for whoever can pay, and makes a point to ask no questions.
