Delilah Ross Riverboat Queen that won the Golden Garters in a card game and has the legitimate deed to prove it.  The Mayor of New Orleans was an obese man as was his son.  (Mayor Bosch is a very handsome fit man who was also probably in the war at one time.)  The son became obsessively infatuated with Delilah and pressed his attentions on her.  Jarod Nicols, a gunslinger for hire, worked for the Mayor of New Orleans and was in love with Delilah and she him.  So to help his son's cause the Mayor sent Jarod out of town on something made up but far away enough that the Mayor's son could have his way with Delilah.  She spurned him inside and it made him furious.  When she went out to go to her room at a hotel there she was dragged into the alley by gunpoint by the son who tried to rape her then and there.  She got hold of the gun and there was a struggle and the gun went off but it wasn't Delilah that dropped to the ground but the body of the now dead son.  She ran back into the saloon there and told Kentucky and Suzy what had happened.  They all three fled in the night on horseback and made their way to Laredo where she opened up the Golden Garter, cleaned it up and added a restaurant doing good business.  Bosch has tried to buy it from her but she won't sell.  He built his own gambling emporium with rooms for his whores to work and live and for his henchmen and his guests.  Jarod will find out what happened and go after Delilah coming then to Laredo.
