The Juicy Bits

Personality: Cael is an ascerbic man but that comes from a life of being trodden on and overshadowed. He is upset that his study has not yet proved productive and is slightly irked that he must resort to a goddess to get what he wants. OTherwise, he is gregarious and light-hearted when around friends and confidants.

Backstory: Cael was a byblow. An illegitimate child born to a noble father. The man had recently lost his wife and took comfort in a servant. His birth was also difficult with him being breach and the doctor's using tools to straighten him that left a scar on his face and, to most thought, the reason for him being small and weak. This resulted in Cael having older siblings more like uncles and being doted upon in the household. It also meant that nothing was expected of him. As his brothers and sisters grew into adults and accomplished things, he lived perpetually in their shadow as a bastard and a child. No fewer than two of his brothers joined Familia and his eldest sister even joined Hera Familia. OThers took roles in academies and among the nobility. By the time Cael came of age, all the paths had been trod and by those wearing large boots.

Meanwhile, he had nothing to show for his own studies. Despite pouring over every book in his father's library and the ones he could convince the aging noble to buy, Cael ahd gotten no closer to unlocking magic. It was the one thing none of his siblings had done. It was the one path he could choose that would allow him to stand out. So, when he heard that Hecate herself was starting a Familia, he made the decision to join to take the next step to master magic. His goal was to be an independent, wealthy adventurere and an undisputed master of magic.
