Calix Eilbala

Name: Calix Eilbala
Age: 427
Race & Gender: Elven Male

Physical Description:
[Calix shares many physical traits with his father, King Eilbala. From the long white hair that hangs past his shoulders to the flawless facial features and the pale skin, he shares the obvious, telltale signs of the Eilbala bloodline.

He is fairly short for an elf, clocking in at 6'6". Calix is very fit, having a very wiry musculature that matches his tall, lanky form.

Calix has blue, piercing, wise eyes.

Though he is still fairly young for an elf, he is well into his adulthood, appearing to be in his late 20s to early 30s. However, he has retained this appearance in age for quite some time now.

Personality:
Calix is very down to Earth (well, Tarduril). Unlike some royal families that are spread throughout the lands, King Eilbala did not pamper his child. He raised him to be a warrior, a noble, a gentleman, and a diplomat.

He is very polite, but can be harsh and cutting when the need arises.

Calix is very protective of his friends, and will defend his family and its name with his life.

While he may have the pompous attitude of a noble at times, mostly when he is angry, he is generally quite relaxed and relatable.

Unlike some of his kind, Calix is very open-minded toward and accepting of other races. He does not see elves as the one, true race of Tarduril.

If he ever is crowned king, he has many plans he wishes to enact that will send the elves of the Old Forest in a much more progressive direction, where xenophobia will hopefully die out.

Background:
Calix, son of Aquilan and Aerith Eilbala, was born in the Old Forest, one of the most ancient and sacred homes of the Elves of Tarduril.

His father was distant at best during his childhood, while his mother raised and nurtured him. Fifty years into Calix's life, his mother was murdered during a raid on the Old Forest by Goblins and Humans alike.

After the death of his mother, Calix and his father grew close. Wanting to avoid another death in the family, King Aquilan saw fit to train his son in the ways of war, of magic.

The Eilbalas, known far and wide among the Elves for their mastery of fire magic, are a strong family. While Aquilan had mastered the use of fire magic, he wanted Calix to grow into a well-rounded warrior. Deciding as much, he refused to teach magic to his son, until Calix had mastered the use of the bow.

Calix was sent off to join the ranks of the Rangers of the Old Forest (ROF). He spent upwards of a century studying and mastering the ways of the bow, as well as becoming a skilled swordsman.

He was taught not to rely on his use of magic, but on his skills as a warrior. He was taught that he should utilize magic along with his archery and swordplay, as well as during hand-to-hand combat. Calix was not meant to rely on it, he was meant to be strong in several areas of combat, but he was certainly meant to use it to gain an advantage over his enemies.

The Prince studied under Nightbreeze, herself, and grew quickly in his skill. At the end of his training, the only member of the Rangers who could best him was Nightbreeze. To this day, he has not been able to best her in battle, though they spar often.

Having found his calling, as a warrior and protector of the Old Forest, Calix returned home to finish his training under his father.

Only after Calix had been adequately tested by the most skilled soldiers of his father's army was he granted an audience, a chance to become his father's apprentice.

After studying for nearly two centuries in the art of magic, King Aquilan decided that he was ready. The King passed on his personal bow and blade to the Prince and entitled him the Protector of the Old Forest.

Over the years, Calix has fought off countless intruders, defended against hundreds of assaults on the outskirts of the forest, and has become loved by the people and creatures under his protection.

After years in service to the King, to the people of the Old Forest, Calix has been granted passage (by his father) into the rest of Tarduril. King Aquilan decided that the Prince should travel, learn the ways of the world and meet the other races. If he is to one day inherit the Eilbala throne, Calix would need some real experience out in the world. He would need to learn who his enemies and allies were early on.

While the Prince has not done much traveling outside of the Old Forest, he has traveled to Ildarith and met with the Aranan family of nobles. He has several friends in each of the noble families. He has sparred with the Knights of the Spear on several occasions. Though they share different cultures, different views on battle, they respect eachother.

Calix, much like his father, has a soft spot for the Dwarves of the Iron Mount. The Prince wishes to be dubbed a friend of the dwarves as his father once was, to be granted his own set of runes.

The Eilbala family name is a heavy burden to bear. One that many Elven nobles have crumbled under in the past. None have carried the name so proudly as King Aquilan and his son.
